No polarity difference.

O.o

Which connector will that be? Is it sharing connections with other stuff like meter/lcd/signal? How many wires does the connector have?

I am trying to DIY a VTEC indicator.

Thanks!

That one I know its link to the main connector, it is suppose to be a big connector once you remove the headlight.

The Vtec indicator will be slot into the connector. I saw it once when i installed the voltmeter.

DONE by Rabbit, haha....

Can hang around bike shop for better visuals

Hi all, anyone can advise where to buy the t10 led cheap for spec 2 meter lighting? Wanna replace my meter light coz too dim cannot see.

ebay sells them very cheaply. i got a few pairs from there. but those LEDs i bought are not bright enough for me. they cannot illuminate wide enough (only part of the meter is bright). end up i use back traditional bulbs with filament. all-round brightness and super cheap.

traditional bulbs come in many colors too. (bottom 2pairs are LEDs)

Done up my VTEC indicator according to @quizesilver instruction posted in this thread years ago.

It is a simple DIY. The only tedious part is to remove your tank and putting it back.

Step 1: You need to take out the side covers and unscrew the screw that is securing your tank(below the seat).

Step 2: Before you can actually remove the tank, you need disconnect 4 hoses and 1 fuel gauge connector. You can actually lift up the tank and memorise which hose is connected to where. Pretty straightforward.

Step 3: Once your tank is out, locate this grey connector that is mounted to your chassis. There only one cable in the connector.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/lycanboy/Forum%20Usage/CameraZOOM-20120304232358617.jpg

Step 4: Connect the + wire of your LED to the connector. You might wanna wire a resistor in between the + wire as recommended by quizesilver. I didnt put though. Too lazy :X

Step 5: You can connect the - wire to your chassis if you bike is grounded properly. For me I just connect the - wire back to my battery. I believe if you didnt ground the - wire properly, the LED will flicker when your bike is on/idling. My did not flicker at all.

Step 6: Do not mount the tank back yet. Start up bike and rev slightly above the rpm(to on VTEC) WHILE clutching in. The LED should light up.

Step 7: Mount back your tank and connect back the hoses and fuel gauge connector.

Start your bike again to check that everything is running fine. If your fuel gauge is dancing abnormally, it means that the fuel gauge connector is not connected properly.

There you go. DIY VTEC indicator :)

Changing your own meter light saves you a lot of money! :) My is a CB400 Spec 1. I think the bulbs locations are the same for all Super 4 with VTEC. Maybe someone with a non vtec can "tear" apart his/her meter too. ;D

I only spend USD$ 3.40 for the pair of T10 from dealextreme. :D Time spent is about 30min as I took my time to figure out how to remove the meter.

Step 1: Remove the bolts that is holding your headlight and the headlight bracket.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/lycanboy/Forum%20Usage/CameraZOOM-20120404163159237.jpg

Step 2 & 3: Remove the bolts from both sides (Circled in Red) that are holding the headlight bracket and the meter. Then remove 3 screws for the covers behind the meter. Circled in purple.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/lycanboy/Forum%20Usage/CameraZOOM-20120404163421383-1.jpg

Step 4: Put out the sockets and you will see the meter light sockets

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/lycanboy/Forum%20Usage/CameraZOOM-20120404164203749.jpg

Step 5: Replace it with your new T10 and switch on your ignition. If the new T10 doesnt like up, the polarity might be wrong. Pull out, flip it over

and insert it again. If it still doesnt light up, you have a faulty bulb(unless your light socket wiring is already faulty for some reason).

WALLA!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y71/lycanboy/Forum%20Usage/CameraZOOM-20120404164145760.jpg

I changed it to orange(same as stock) because I like the colour. However, I wanted to save some electricity so I used LED instead of filament bulbs. ;) It is bright enough to illuminate the whole meter :D

Have fun!
