Hey BoyDan, Guess you didn't search first right? loL. But anyway, here goes.

1) Go down to LTA Sin Ming and request for a Lay-Up Form.

2) Fill in your particulars, license plate number, date Lay-Up commences, etc.

3) Take a queue number and wait for you turn to be called.

4) Pay the Lay-Up fee of $5.35

5) Your bike has been successfully Laid Up!

Please remember that after the Lay-Up commences, you'll have to leave your bike at the address which you filled on the form. Get a season parking for your bike as well.

For more detailed information, you can visit the One.Motoring website.

And if you ride your bike when it's laid up , you can get charge in court .

Riders are naturally more daring then Drivers , cause Riders are constantly facing danger on the road.

thanx 4 ur replies guyz..

but let say i hvn't go 4 vehicle inspection as stated n went 2 lta to do a lay-up,i need to do the inspection meh?

Nope, no need to do an inspection before the lay-up.

By the way, an inspection certificate would last for 3 months. So if you do the inspection first, and within 3 months you decide to re-register the bike, you will not need to call a tow truck to send the bike for inspection. Just have to produce the valid inspection certificate and the road tax will be renewed for you.

But if it's after 3 months, or you did not even do inspection in the first place, when you want to re-register the bike, will have to inform LTA that you will be towing the bike for inspection, have to call a tow truck to tow the bike to the nearest inspection centre, tow it back to your house, then proceed to LTA by another transport to re-register you bike + renew road tax, then can go back to your house and ride the bike again. (not forgetting that you'll need valid insurance as well)

And just in case you ask what's re-registering, it's just issuing a new road tax for your bike, cause when you lay-up, there won't be a need for road tax. The fees will just be the road tax fees.

Yeah, can be used anywhere other than Sg roads.

But you can't cancel the insurance if you intend to ride it, so you only save the road tax.

how you going to get to m'sia without riding pass the custom in sg?

But do be careful...although it's rare and I don't know whether it's true, I've heard that LTA might send inspectors down to the address (stated in the Lay-up form) to check that your bike is physically there.

This is stated on the Layup form as well...

Deregistration is almost the same as the end of COE of a vehicle in Singapore.

You have to scrap it or leave it at/ship it to another country, such as Malaysia

Hi all! Juz wanna share some info abt e re-licensing part coz I juz did it a few days ago.

I laid my bike up for 9 mths coz gt some problems wif it. Neway I've got my dad's bike to use so I dun need it much. I practically ignored it's existence for 9 mths so it could'nt start up again when I wanted to. More accurately, it started up n died again..

To cut a long story short, I pushed it all e way to Planet at Ubi and after they fixed it, I pushed it to e Kaki Bukit vicom there for inspection. It's a gamble coz it's stated that we are supposed to tow lay up vehicles to vicom. Someone in SBF mentioned 'dun play wif e law in sg' regardin this in another thread, but I really dun tink payin $30 or $40 to tow a bike for like..1.5km is worth it. Anyway, I figured the point of towin e vehicle is only to prevent us from ridin it on the roads, so if I take e trouble to push it should b fine, right?

I dunno it's I lucky that day or it's e norm, but the inspector at e vicom there dun seem to be too concerned whether the bike is lay up or nt at all. From e looks of it, it would'nt hav made any diff if I tow, push or ride my bike there. The inspection was done n den I piah to LTA to do e road tax n re-licensing procedures. Oh ya, the insurance was done in the mornin le. Heng I did that first lo, queued for 20-30min when I'm only the third in line.

Okie.. so the process is:

Insurance - Most NTUC Income branches open 10am-6.30pm/3.30pm (Mon to Fri/Sat) Only e Ang Mo Kio branch open on Sundays 10am-4pm

Vehicle Inspection - Vicom Inspection Ctrs open 8am-5.30pm/5pm (Mon to Fri/Sat)

LTA - Opens 8am-4.30pm/12pm (Mon to Fri/Sat)

Hope this helps ^^
