Ah Chong is one of the most experience mechanic I've come across in handling Phantoms. While his workmanship may not be entirely perfect (he may forget things sometimes), he is proficient in the knowledge and troubleshooting. There was another one I came across few years back, but I didn't get his name and he subsequently left the employment of Eng Sin Motors (Choa Chu Kang)

The old ahpek now at eng sin is also pretty good. I like him to handle my phantom last time. Very nice uncle also, always asking me to ride safely and what things to watch out for after the repair.

Too bad the auntie always quote cut-throat prices.

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

sometimes that is the problem with getting a bike that is priced like a phantom, $500 overhaul can possible buy more than half of a bike.

I do not know what to do if my bike needs to overhaul and cost 500.

I recently bought 2 diff bottles of fuel system cleaner. cost about 30 plus in total because I bought the bike recently and wanted to clean any dirts, not sure if it helps but if it does, I didnt feel it. Seems to make little sense to get it if the idea is to be fuel efficient or wash carb. How much can one save on a fuel sipping phantom when a bottle cost more than my one fuel up, to clean the insides, not sure if it even work.

the part comes in a box, Honda Original Parts, made in Thailand

Should be New Old Stock, cos i know Honda parts no longer produced in Thailand, cos the plant shifted to Indonesia.

I know the feeling. But we have to be realistic. The price we paid for the bike is for one which has been used closed to 10 years. Its rather difficult to expect a machine to run 10 years without changing parts, especially when the part is inside the engine where it is constantly being used.

Even if the previous owner is the only owner and takes good care of the bike, the point of abrasion and erosion is the law of nature where man or technology cannot overcome.

We can only hope it doesn't happen to us so soon.

Personality wise I don't dislike all of them inside Eng Sin, but skills and technical knowledge is a bit lacking to me, except for the mechanic which I had the chance to meet on one occasion. He was quick to point out to me that the rear suspension had extra modifications which added stress to the chain and causing the chain rolller guide to wear off at an alarming rate. By then I had already changed 2 roller guides at Eng Sin. The mechanic also pointed out that the cant (tilting angle) of my bike was due to the "raised" rear suspension, and he proved it to me by taking it out and the bike cant angle was back to normal. But by then I had already welded an additional "high heel shoe" on my side stand which made my bike stood almost straight when the modification was removed. Similarly, I ask the ahpek at Eng Sin before i went to weld my high heel, and he suggested to me to change my side stand...zzz which was why I went ahead to weld the high heel.

When my engine casing cracked, I didn't know who to go to and so I sent it to Eng Sin. The bill was the same cost which I paid for the bike originally. Almost fainted...Then I decided not to go there anymore. No regrets ever since.

anyone knows how much for clutch pad replacements? When they change, do they change the fiber pieces alone or with the metal plates?

By the time they open up to change the clutch, I think I will spend more to change a lot of other things as well. The labour charge isn't cheap to begin with.

I will go figure how the gear shifter works, I know the screw is loose. I had previously wanted to adjust the lever to accommodate my boots but there seem to be no screw from the outside.

Ah boy seems to have good pricings, you tried sourcing for parts there? the last time I asked about caliper, it was under 40 but I didnt buy as mine is working. The normal spark plug is $3. A chopper handlebar was 40.

The anti vibration thing, I looked at a lot of phantoms, they do not have that. A lot of bikes do not have that too. Maybe I will get those silicone mat and shim it a bit. The majority of the vibration I have comes from the windshield. I didnt set it up properly and it is vibrating on my headlight.

I like the look of wwII royal enfield bikes, looks like the slimmer version of the even nicer IMZ M-72 / changjiang 750.

I think Phantoms do come with this anti-vibration rubber. I was cleaning my bike and i realised there are 2 sets remaining on the block fins. Went back to the part manual and saw the part being listed.

Maybe I'll check whether FJT/ EVERFIT/ EVERSUCCESS has stock or not.

I ask planet mechanic, they do not have.

FJT say they do not hav stocks for it, but they can order for me. Require a deposit. About $5.xx per pc. I am thinking of ordering 12 pcs to keep as spare (only left 2 pcs on my block, and keeping 100% spare.)

I like my e21, I bought a fuel tank to fit inside it. A pity it slopes a bit at the base, this lowers the storage cap.

wow, you mean you can have an extra fuel tank inside the side box? Can take a picture to see how it looks?
