But seriously, the amount to set aside for flying schools in North America is almost the same as setting money aside for a degree.

Yup its the same as getting a degree. The whole course gives a CPL with ME/IR and instructor rating + 200 hours. Hope to find a job over there or come back to sg and work in malaysia.

Airbus A320 type rating you mean?

It's a passenger jet; You should have ATP certification first bah... Not only that, you have to be employed in the specific airline company that has A320s in their fleet.

 

If I'm guessing what you're aiming for, well I'm not so sure whether budget airliners in Asia are becoming lucrative job pathways, although it might be true.

 

I know that this is the case in other countries...all junior pilots usually start flying regional jets (CRJ, ERJ, turboprops) and for budget airline companies as well.

A320 rating can get privately from overseas schools, however its quite useless as most airlines want hours on type. so dont expect silkair to hire you instantly with a a320 rating as hours play a huge part!

does being an instructor still give one the excitement and satisfaction of flying but without the operational hours (odd days, weekends, holidays) if one was a commercial pilot?

 

so a progression for instructors is to achieve type rating and instruct cadets on this rating? are they allowed to switch to commercial piloting given the hours you have instructing?
