The two mechs are friendly to customer. Workshop is one of the cleanest i've seen.

i talked to one of the mechs..'ah pui'..he was a real nice fella...explained to me in detail..

 

all i asked him was how much to do install dyno and with tuning and all...he quoted me a price tat's very reasonable..only that stock fer s4 still not available coz of the festive season in the us..hence warehouse all low on stock...

 

then i asked him how much fer juz tuning and again he quoted me a very reasonable price..after which i added i got full system..he immediately explained to me why i need to get dyno jets and only then do tuning..he showed me the difference between stock jet and dyno jet..explained something abt the spring on the jet that's co-related to the throttle response etc... :thumb:

 

he really knows his stuff and was patient and honest with me..i mean he could have sapu my 75 bucks...and done it and juz kept quiet...and my bike will still feel not in prime condition coz i didn't change my jet..

 

i waitin fer stock to come in...will immediately send fer dyno...can't wait to feel and hear the difference...

either that or it takes one and a half mth for shipments to come thru...

if thats the case, i wanna have a look at the ancient sampan..

I guess workmanship and mech's opinion are all very personal..

But IMO, i do not trust any shop that can kick out superbike (SBK) specs from a stockbike with end can and PC3. Period.

Unity is a good place to service bikes , i heard tat they r quite good in servicing yamaha bikes . I servcied my bike there most of the time . Cos i pay my instalments near there too .

 

Mechs quite good , both Ah Pui n Ah Xiong r good mechs . Ah Xiong should be more into the tuning n dyno runs while Ah Pui should be mostly handling the servicing .

Dun scare? hmm... not really scared or worried in retrospect..

Yes no doubt HKL aka Ah Bee will be taking over unity but with the same two people running the show, looks like there isn't going to be much improvement..

In essense, its just a capital injection.. And given that Ah bee will manage the place, things are probably going haywire.. No offense to people who support the friendly mechs at unity.. No doubt they may be nice pple. Hell i belief they actually do know some stuffs.. enough to be labelled as mechanics in fact.. But knowing things and putting them to good use is regretfully separate distinct issues.. Well dyno tuning in the rain?!?! Who we kidding here? Hello?? atmospheric pressure?? humidity?? I mean regardless of the reason behind it, there isn't really a justification for cheating customers is there? Especially customers who entrust their beloved machines to them..Machines which they care enough about and love enough to want to ensure the right fuel intake, air intake and various variables despite the cost involved.. And Ah Bee of all people to take over.. No doubt he has been beneficial to us consumers in the price wars that he has engaged in.. But wad is the point if he is so totally clueless.. He tried squeezing another bike model's pipe into my bike.. erm.. ok.. So he dosen want my money.. fine.. Rearsets that totally dun fit?? Yeah thats his job too.. Is the next thing he screws up going to be a wrong piston size? Gasket? Or is he gonna argue that mineral oil and synthetic oils are one and the same.. Oh and Mr Ah bee was the same man who so vehemently advocated the utter futility of a dyno machine and often equated it to him playing pool on his computer.. Erm ok.. Nice try.. but i tink they are kinda different.. But since u belief so den why spend so much to purchase a dyno?? For bragging power?? Well go beg all you want.. You would not even get near my machine... And guess wad?? There is no smoke without fire.. Those who are in the know of the biking community are aware of the masses of unity customers that have started to shy away.. Well.. clever them.. With the same two people running the place.. Wads gonna change? So wad if your machine has so many fans if they are blowing at all the wrong places.. So wad if Gillian is blowing me if she is just blowing my finger.. Well i rest my case.. Just wanted the general public to be more aware of wads going on.. Not directed at various supporters..

While I share most of your views (except for the Gillian bits n a few other ) I have a few other reasons to move to another dyno center.

 

I've been goin to Unity all this while cos I liked the mechs n their workmanship. I didn't mind paying more for that. But with this new management besides guessing that the standards will probably dip, I absolutely refuse to support the (speculated) unethical conducts of the new management.

 

If either mechs moved to another workshop I would happy to patronise that workshop.

Aiya 2 thoswse ppl who support ah siong n u found them is k then carry on 2 support him n 4 me i once support this bike shop S----.... But end up they cheat me so i went down to unity n i reall found ah siong n ah pui reall beri friendly n wat they do or change they show me n explain 2 me wat cause e problem,so wat i can say 4 their service n workmanship is gd although some say they charge quite Ex but i think is worth it.....GD...Gd.....gd........

Service might be good to some pple..but price not sure..when u r being quoted for $150 more u will know good or not good. Try to think back if both mech r reali tat gd, other shops would have take over rather den H--. Or even better job offer from other competitors. Best part is talking bad abt other shops. They oso c what bike pple ride. Some bikes they cnt even bother when u walk in n ask. I dnt think this is service. This is 狗眼看人低。I use to go there when ah tak is ard. Until he left den i saw alot of the above mentioned things.

Walked in when i parked my bike elsewhere to enquire on some services and aftermarket accessories..

Got a pretty stuck up reaction... I guess the mechs choose who they wanna be friendly with... I guess they can grossly underestimate some people's net worth.. Well.. It was after that i saw the dyno in the rain.. i'm glad i walked out before that..

shows the approved tuning centres... One does not have tuning link... Last i heard from Sunway, in charge of asiapac dynojet, unity has not had tuning link for quite some years since. For reasons i rather not divulge..

Racewerkz nothing to discredit thus far...

And sunway is simply so far...

Well i agree with ah_peh and fspider.

 

My own exp with unity.

 

Here goes, a few years back i brought my bike,a cbr 954 for tunning with a pc3r. Ah siong the mech agreed on 180 bucks with installation of my acumen gear indicator. Left my bike there for a day. Next day ah siong called me up and told me my bike is ready. Went down to unity to collect bike, ah siong showed me my dyno graph. It showed 148BHP from 138BHP b4. 10 BHP gain from just tunning. I was so happy cause my bike is basically stock. Paid my money and rode my bike back.

On the way back, bike still feels the same to me. 0 rpm to 3k rpm still jerking. Got home checked the dyno graph again........

It showed 148BHP yes but S.A.E was at 1.32........ for both stock and "tunned" map. U guys do the calculations.

For those who dunno wat is S.A.E? Its the correction ratio. S.A.E 1.0 or S.A.E 0.99 being the most accurate. Felt cheated and vowed never to go unity again........

With this new management...... i dun even feel optismistc about them improving at all. Dyno in the rain, dyno with fairing on. Fans pointing towards ram air, i have seen it also.And thanks the other dyno shop in the same area for tunning my bike the way i wanted it and correct BHP also. Just my 2 cents worth.
