Hi Dos,

He was powering out, over powered the rear, simply stopped adding power and let the tyre regain grip. If he had closed the throttle, he may have highsided.

Thanks!

So all i have to do is just maintain the throttle for the tyre grip to regain?

or should i ease the throttle a little? Will applying the rear brake help?

wat i cn see is dat they all step on the rear brakes to slide out......

the are not skidding with rear brakes....but sliding with throttle open....too much power for the rear tyre to grip, so it spins...some done delibrately, like mccoy, rossi, melandri

Hi Dos,

It depends, the slide might be too big for you too hold it open, sometimes you have to ease off VERY slowly. Other times, you can continue opening. One thing for sure is to NOT slam the throttle shut. Best solution is to make a habit of feeling for the initial slide, so it gives yout ime to react BEFORE it gets to big. Rear brake will not help, but make things worse. The rear already is struggling with not enough grip, if you brake, it will just lock.

When they slide out of the turns, no brakes are used at all. They are using pure power to spin it out of turns. Thats why its called a Power Slide.

They do use the rear brake slightly some times, but that is to stop the bike from wheelying, nothing to do with the slide.

Hoiya Kingpet,

Nope. No brakes at all. the only time you use the front brake to slide the rear is either when you are:

Riding a Supermotard - Brake hard on the front to unload the rear, slam down the gears and get the rear to step out on the corner entry.

Stunting - Burnouts, hold the front brake and use the clutch to spin the rear up.

No one touches the front brake on teh corner exit, you just upset the weight distribution and slow yourself down.
