Agreed , that's why Z1000 is also one of my top choices but I dont want to spend so much on a bike as I only ride it twice a month...

I'm not going to take the thunderbird on track so why would I wear a race suit while riding it?

siao meh..

my full race suit, I'll probably just keep as a reminder of my "wonder years"

well here's some update.

I "test rode" the bike in the car park and found the handle bar a tad wobbly.

started OK, sounded ok, but idling is too high (1,100 rpm) Brakes feel a little soft in front and even softer at the back. I'm worried that the idling may be tuned up due to carb problems. very torquey and transmission is a little rough, i think due to a chain which is very poorly maintained. The exhaust headers are a little rusted and one fork seal is slightly torn. I dont see any leaks on engine though. Vibration felt for pillion is moderate. Seat is quite comfy for the 10 min ride i had.

I do like the bike but resale may suck I think. and i dont know if I will be marvelled by it for a long time as it is not as shiok as a true sportsbike like my Ninja.

I will need to top up for the following:-

handlebar and risers = $300

Carb tuning = $120

Chain = $130

Braided Rear Brake hose = $120

Other nitty gritties = $200

total to top up about $1000.

hhhmmmmm.......

hi throttle, to spend & touch-up the bike u loved would earn u pride & joy after u took her out for a ride.

Grab it!

(my two cents worth of thot)

VeeTwin Power after u rode a twin... u never want a straight four!!!

yeah you are probably right

but i only ride maybe a few times a month and perhaps even less than 1000km a year !!

Nope, I would prefer to buy a good handle bar and a good set of risers.

Not from those shops selling scrap metal from thailand etc...

dont want to compromise on such things.

ride halfway, suddenly the handlebar bend , then how?

hahah

anyway, not confirm whether I will get the thunderbird or not.

still looking. Maybe M900, maybe get bored, or too busy to look, then just drive my car.

Heh heh , I brand conscious lah...

shoes must be branded, watch must branded, car must branded, handlebar also must branded ......

Hi Duncan (did I get your name right?)

As you know, I'm working at Mah right now. And we took in a T-bird recently and it's for sale (within the price range you are looking at).

What's more, you can let me know what are the things you'd like change, and maybe I can throw them in as freebies, if reasonable (Have to nego, whether you are buying cash or financing it will have to be considered as well)

Do give me a call to view it.

Thats the one I saw, belongs to angmoh....

If you are willing to pay $7k, he will sell it for sure. I wasnt willing.

I actually dont need a bike to begin with, just play play. so have or not doesnt matter. But if the price is fair and the condition good, I'll just buy it.

Especially for Triumph thunderbird with a very small resale market. I'm only willing to pay about $6k for a 1998
