Got my for S$720++ from US (w/o security bolts). Comes complete with:-

1. Damper

2. Brackets

3. Dot Punch

4. Drill bit

5. Tapping screw

5. Scotts stickers & instructions :cheeky:

Self install, hence installation cost = 2hrs = S$0.

US dollar is low now, could be even cheaper vs the S$1->USD1.6 rate back then.

Thank You.

most traditional tube dampers, dun require drilling....like Sprint, ohlins, hyperpro....radial dampers like GPR, Scotts, Pitbull are neater and nicer to look at. But do take note, when purchasing damper....who can service it for u locally or overseas and its charges.

just like ur forks, the product will be working every single second ur machine moves, which require annual servicing, which most of us dont....and simply end up clicking more.

look for those tank mounted dampers instead. no need to drill holes..

from wat i noe scotts damper need to drill frame rite?? issit safe to drill the frame?? or any other types of damper dat doent need to drill??

2006~2007 R6 requires drilling. The main reason lies in basic mechanical use of a rotary damper.

So why drilling?

Every damper requires 2 strong holding points. For rotary, it uses a tower pin as a medium to translate forces onto 1 of the 2 holding pts (in this cases, an M4 thread in an alu frame of abt 3~5mm in thickness).

With lateral rotary forces acting directly perpendicular on a holding point, the assembly (pin->mounting->bolt->frame threading) is subjected to constant forces, and with time to come, might strip the threading (aluminium threading is not as strong as steel)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Simple comprehensive illustration to relay the long story above

1. Stick a 1 long rod into a hole (hole & rod of the same diameter). Now you jerk forward & backards like shifting a car gearstick. What happens to the hole? The answer shld be clear to you, consideration the one in the bike frame is threads.

2. Stick a 1 piece assembly of 3 long rods (of course these 3 are welded or fixed together in 1 way or another) into 3 holes. Jerk it as before, this great resolves the issue in the above example. :cheeky:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drilling is completely up to you. GPR offers "resting" of its bracket on the 2 locations that is to be drilling for the case of SCOTTS. The resting surface has to be mated has to be in constant. Any gap, its fruitless.

I chose SCOTTs due to it easy servicability w/o special tool & independant circuitry. I chose to be drilled for long term reliability. When properly done, it should serve as good till you change your bike. Grimreaper & fruitcake hits the track at least 2~3 times more than me. Its a living example.

Hope its helps to bring some insights. :cheeky:

Thank You.
