photoshop is a very good n versitile tool for designing.

however, how good a design turns out depends on how gd u r at using photoshop.

so.. if u r just 'ok' with photoshop.. i suggest u hand-drawn design, and ask someone who is good at photoshop to do a real good graphic soft copy of ur drawn design.

I use Photoshop all the time...from correcting lighting problems on my photos taken with my SLR camera -- to designing simple vector-based logos, brands, and stylized text.

 

(Actually, experts use Adobe Illustrator for logo and vector design, it's much more powerful, has more tools, and is complicated to use.)

Adobe Illustrator is too much higher lvl to use ...not for me yet haha...

i feel tat for normal usage photoshop is gd enuff anyway go buy pirated cd lor n try to find cracks or key generator for the programs (support piracy)

although designing is 1 part of it,

 

the printing part is another aspect u need to take note of. (impt)

 

its best that u can lias with the printing shop so u noe what kind of colour range their printer can provide. if not when they print out ur colours will not be what u see on ur screen.

 

For illustrator n fotoshop, both are basically the same programs. fotoshop plays around wif pixels while illustrator, a vector base program.

 

actually there are tons of 'cookbook' around in the net u can juz go dl and learn along. the more u explore the more u will understand the program.

 

as fer a note, dun go learn from the tutorials that teaches u from Pt A get to Pt B although they give u cool effects, u are juz following. Try to noe what they are implying on den u will have a better understanding of why they do this n tat to achieve the effects

 

you learn more like tat in the longer runs.

heyz...photoshop is basically a software whereby you could manipulate pictures....illustrator is another kinds which deals with vector based graphics...im using both...4 print, theres indesign which customize the exact proportion u want when printing.

im using photoshop, illustrator n pagemaker at my camp..... its just another software. but among the 3 pagemaker is more useful to learn.... if work outside wif pagemaker knowledge cn earn 10 times of wat i earn as nsf!! to me its jus another job. i learn to use it jus to do my job... its noting interesting

Actually, Photoshop can deal with Vector-based thingies.

Text is one of them. Drawing shapes are another. You draw em on top of...say...your photos.

 

The only thing is, when you save them into a PSD, they get bundled together with other elements on your sketch-document such as photos, etc (don't worry, the vector lines are preserved). Plus, you can't save em into pure Vector formats (such as .AI) just like every designer in the whole world are using.

 

In short, Photoshop is not 100% a vector-based editor but for convenience's sake, it also does (and saves) Vector graphics for beginners/intermediate usages.

 

People use Illustrator for these kinds of designs: Even this female face on Veerle's Blog is done with a 100%vector-based program such as Illustrator

i tink the more useful program in the adobe series is pagemaker. highly recomended. its smthg like ms powerpoint but used to design posters or magazine frontpage or booklets etc wif the exact position n measurement. (of course better den powerpoint) its the only fun thing dat i do in office everyday.

Well, I came from a camp which were desperately needing designers, photographers and videographers to do stuff for publicity stints on posters, video and audio for events, awards, parades, and for other camps as well...

 

so halfway through my NS stint as a combat soldier in my battallion, I was pulled out from my unit to join and assist all those high-ranking officers. Imagine, combat support batallion...but in audio/visual + design, that is
