Not really. I've already bought a HD Ready 42 inch plasma TV last December. Quality of picture OK to me and no problems so far... :)

haha now a days TV will have 3 years warranty so you won't have much fears for now ;)

That should be the 103 inch Full HD Panasonic LCD TV. If my memory serves me correct, that TV costs almost $100K... :giddy:

you're still young, memory still fresh and accurate ;)

I went to NTUC Xtra at AMK Hub and saw a 65 inch full HD Panasonic Viera plasma TV selling for $19,999. :lovestruck: Yesterday, I went to Best Denki at IMM and saw the exact same model and brand selling for $22,999. A difference of $3K... :slapforehead: :faint:

with that price, imagine how much GST you're paying :giddy: and to sell it at NTUC will be quite an awkward advert for Panasonic..

Hi,

I would like to get a new TV set.

However, i'm not really sure which is a better option - LCD or Plasma?

Which has a longer lifetime, and more maintenance free? electric consuming etc?

Pls advise. :cheeky:

Thanks!

I just bought a 37 inch HD Ready Palladine LCD TV from Carrefour Suntec yesterday for $799. An Akira LCD TV with the same measurement is also selling for the same price but I insisted on the Palladine brand cos Akira products tend to kaput on me after about a year plus of usage. This weekend got project to do liao. Intend to mount the TV on the wall of my master bedroom... :D

hows the quality of the palladine? how many year warranty

Quality OK. Not really crystal clear as it is not full HD and I didn't fix those HDMI cables. Warranty valid for two years. My hall Palladine 42 inch plasma TV is still OK and it is coming to two years since I bought it... :thumb:

Haha you can't expect much from palladine but average usage I'd say ;)

Aie, have you tried the quality via HDMI or VGA(laptop/cpu) input?

Nope. I fixed the aerial via the normal input and the video cables through the scart input. HDMI input best to use the HDMI cables, right? If so, I pokkai liao to invest in those. Have to wait for end of the year bonus. :p

:btw: , I saw a Chimei 52 inch full HD LCD going for $4999 at Carrefour as well. It was displaying the Spiderman 3 movie and the quality of the picture was crystal clear leh... :lovestruck:

If you have a HDMI player best to use it with HDMI cables ;) might have some lying around at home. No need for monster cables dude, Pm to deal :deal:

:btw: for your info and everybody elses. What is normally on display is with the best set up connections, players, cables, video quality etc. What you see there might not be what you can get at home with normal stuffs.

Why would I say so? Because I was dealing with those TV set ups back then with a foreign brand company

u r rite. i bought an LCD 37" panasonic for $2249 full HD. alpha panel, 6ms response time, motion pro etc etc. bought during rd show got $200 taka voucher + $400 NTUC voucher

becoz of tat, i bought a DIY pc with a very good graphics card with HDMI output just to connect with the LCD.

den later need to buy HDMI cable. LCD already so good, graphics also good, so cable muz be good also. if not signal transmission is lousy. again bought a blardy HDMI cable for $88 (only 2m)

analogy:

gaphics card is air filter intake

LCD tv is bike's end can.

since all change already, to get max effect muz change header and mid pipe also, which is the HDMI cables.

BUT BUT BUT, at the end of the day, watch tv only where got all Full HD unless u watch DVD from computor or dvd player. so, its like a 125cc bike with full system and super mod, yet power is still limited.

i say, an HD ready is enough. i regretted spending so much. but since spent liao just enjoy lor. bought blardy good speakers too. to sing KTV in my room.

No more regrets.

Ps: I personally don't buy that brand because it feels 'Lou-Gy'(lousy)

Don't look down on display sets though, if you're lucky to get one with very short 'operation hours' since it was left on display then you're like getting a 2nd hand bike with less than 10k mileage at dirt cheap price. But still the risk is there ;)

I bought a Pioneer DVD home entertainment system in 2001 which was a display set. Sadly, it lasted only for about a year and a half... :sian:

lol it would be wrong to reveal this, but usually why stores are selling display sets is coz they are more than 1 years old.:cheeky:

ps: i work part-time in courts so i know hehe

not necessary dude ;) new models sprout so fast in the market, usually Display sets or "soiled sets" are changed asap and also snapped up fast :thumb:

I'm on the lookout for a 52 inch LCD or plasma TV with a budget of $2500. Is it possible to get one at that price now? Cos I did see a 50 inch Samsung full HD TV going for $1798 at Courts Tampines just two weeks back. I intend to get it during the one week school holidays that is coming up. Must have free brackets for wall mount and installation included...:)

Hmmm, I noticed that Audio House has great promotions for LCD and plasma TVs. My only gripe is that every time I go to the place, they always say that the TVs on promotion are out of stock or sold out and then recommend me another brand that is more expensive.:sian:

Anyways, I saw a 50 inch LG LCD TV on sale for $1818 at Courts Toa Payoh. Now waiting for COMEX to come to town to do more recceing before getting my big screen TV for my new house before Hari Raya...

I just opened my 32" Samsung Series 4 TV today. HD is really HD that I can see the pores on the actors faces! I didnb't know the TV is a plasma TV until I read the manual just before logging onto SBF!

Got it for HK$5,000 (just under S$1,000). I feel it's a good deal

I checked out Courts Tampines and they are selling the same 50 inch LG plasma for $1788. Comes with 3 years warranty and free wall mounts and installation. Unless COMEX has a better deal than this, high chance I'm getting this LG plasma TV model for my hall this weekend...:lovestruck:

I love the new Samsung LED TV. Looks really slim and the clarity is superb. Price is also a tad on the higher side. I suppose the price fits the product.

I missed out on COMEX. Been too busy unpacking to go. Anyone has any idea whether there might me an extended sale at the warehouse or something? My friend told me that there were 52 inch TVs on sale that fitted my budget...:sian:
