MERGED THREAD

Topic : For those who downgraded to a kup...

Description : Nil

********************************************************************

Hi. Just have a few question to ask those who downgraded to a kup kia... especially those from 2A and above...

Do you regret changing your bike?

Do you miss the times when you had the ability to chase other cars or bikes who bully you on the road?

Do you feel more vulnerable now that you are on a smaller bike?

Do you worry about not being able to ride a bike with clutch next time?

Any problems pillioning other pple, especially going upslope?

Just some questions i have in my mind as i'm considering about downgrading too...

Thanks.

I've ridden all kinds of bikes and one of my favorites was my Honda Sonic. It's a cub but unlike many it has a clutch and a normal pattern gearshift which is what I really liked about it. At the time the raider 150 wasn't available in Singapore and I didn't want a 2-stroke so the 125z was out of the question.

I first bought this because I had a Z1000 and it wasn't worth warming it up in the mornings to ride the short distance to work (less than 5km). By the time I could finish warming it up properly I was already at work on the Sonic. :thumb:

Later on I "upgraded" back up to a CBR150 mainly due to the extra fuel capacity (10L tank) and due to the fact that being 184cm tall a cub is a little cramped.

I've recently (last Fri) just upgraded back up to a DRZ400 which I really do find more comfortable than the CBR150 and more suitable for my size. The other reason for this is that I ride the CBR150 too hard which isn't very good for the bike.

I've always missed the sonic and whenever I see one I'm nostalgic about it. I'm kinda hoping my gf will get a raider 150 so I can ride it sometimes just for fun.

When I wanna "feel like a man" I ride my CBR929 (but only in Malaysia).

As for your questions:

NO: Do you regret changing your bike? (technically didn't "change")

NO :Do you miss the times when you had the ability to chase other cars or bikes who bully you on the road?

NO: Do you feel more vulnerable now that you are on a smaller bike?

NO: Do you worry about not being able to ride a bike with clutch next time?

NO: Any problems pillioning other pple, especially going upslope?

Ex-929 rider here, these are my views:

Do you regret changing your bike? No. If i were to continue riding, i lugi more $, anyway seeing my kup $25 become $5 full tank, very happy.

Do you miss the times when you had the ability to chase other cars or bikes who bully you on the road? Yes i do, but after i will also think that, win liao also like that, so whats the point? You win a couple. there are still tonns of them out there.

Do you feel more vulnerable now that you are on a smaller bike? DEFINITELY NO!

Do you worry about not being able to ride a bike with clutch next time? No, i can ride with any kinda bikes, anytime.

Any problems pillioning other pple, especially going upslope? No. Never planned to pillion anyone.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Kup must be quite good cos nobody regrets changing. Hope i dun regret too. Think i'll go scout around soon.

Just get a cub with a clutch and normal gearbox and you won't regret.

Sonic, Raider, 125z or X1 with the clutch option.

Wave, Smash, Kaze, X1 (non-clutch) etc aren't as good IMHO.

Might as well get a scooter in that case then no shifting required at all.

i dun really call that downgrading...just change of ride...i have been riding big bike for a few years...co-current i will own a smaller bike for get around in town...unless you are very into touring of something.....if not, very waste of money to get a big bike....this is of coz my own honest opinion.
