if someone mentioned Nighthawk250 only, he might have forgotten abt the Honda Twister CBX250. This bike definitely consumes less petrol than a 400cc, tank is reasonably big as well, 16.5litres. U can consider this for a economical 2A ride:P

i was wondering... if phantom can't tahan your riding style (seems like motor gp type) that cause so much wearing that you need yearly overhaul, what makes you think the wave can take it? for better fc yes, but its simple engine is also designed for commuting. chances are you'll still need annual overhaul unless you adjust your riding style... overhauling the wave might be cheaper though.

suggest you address the main issue... your riding style :goodluck:

may all be well and happy

there's no such thing as a BEST bike...

if u dun mind a small bike, going slower on highways, den stick to 2B...

but u ll miss out all e fun on bigger bikes...

there are ppl who take riding as a hobby/interest...

i suppose u r those use bikes purely as transport kind...

if u still thinking of getting a 2A bike, my recommendation is Silver Wing...

Honda 400cc, big, comfortable... n auto... so not so tiring on e hands oso...

FC should be abt 25km/L if im not wrong...

Either a S4 due to riding style, as it has much more power, you don't need to throttle hard for acceleration. x2.5 to x3 the hp of phantom. Compare to every year overall, the saving in that comes with the phantom on the petrol is nullify and deeply in th negetive.

Or if you have no problem with a slightly slower acceleration compare to S4, and still want great saving on petrol get a CBR150R. Its about 40km/l, top speed about 140km/h once you hit 5th gear.

There are KRR150/SP that is fast, but have no idea about the comsumption and maintainance only heard from friends that its high.

Anyway, every year overhual is simply too much!!

Good Luck in your search for a better ride :)

Dear fellow bikers/drivers

After 2 years of passing, I'm thinking of upgrading my 2B to 2A but still couldn't make up my mind. main reason is the impeding high petrol consumption of most 2A bikes & bigger bikes.

So can any kind soul enlighten me (or perhaps motivate me to upgrade) on which 2A bike is the most fuel economical & easy-to-maintain (cheap to maintain too) 2A bike around Sg?

This is partly also due to my work as I travel around on bike claiming mileage so too high a fuel consumption= lugi hard earned $ in every trip! (on some busy days I travel more than 100Km!)

I'm riding phantom now which gave me average 35Km/l mileage but tell u the truth I gave up on this bike due to its high maintenance cost- I overhauled 2 times consecutively in 2 years!!! (cost me $1k plus total!) the savings I earned in my past yrs thru claiming mileage all went to the overhaul!

Guys/gals pls list down the recommended bike's make/model & most importantly its average km/l mileage clocked (must be more than 35km/l hor).

Thanks in advance!

RXZ, RXK, KR, SP, WR2 can whack alot. overhaul also very cheap.

if not consider a Cub-kia lor. cheap fuel, whack everywhere.

if 2A, consider XR4, DRZ400 or super4. all very good workhorses.

dude, like you said.. overhaul the riding style would be the ultimate choice. Leave the hard riding to NSH. :)

Well said, but a bit hard for him bcos if he was able he only need to overhual once...

For me, i also everytime think i want to ride slow.....but guess what when i am actually on the road!!!

i heard drz sm is 35km/l also? then need i plug and 1 litre enough..save maintenance.

No one mentioned a suzuki gn250. Its a japan built commuter bike and are lasting bike. Have seen some despatch using it too. Consumption is up to 35km/l. I have one and could outrun a phantom with the torque.

Anyway, I'm selling my japan 5 year old one so if anyone interested, pls pm me. Due to lack of popular, this bike is cheap and value for money for such durable bike. The cb250 is much more expensive to buy.

sounds like you like to rush from one place to another.:cheeky:

Phantom should not overhaul that much.. when i was riding one, between me and the previous owner (another friend), was a good 3 years, only that needed changing was timing chain and tensioner. Otherwise FC was 35-37km per ltr.
