Hi all, has anyone change the master brake pump before? Mine is worn out and need to replace but the bikeshop say it has been out of stock for quite some time.. Mine is a spec3..

Hi

What do you mean by worn out? Is it having double pump action when you brake? The stopping power not there when it rains? Yours a spec III and the master brake pump should not be worn out that fast. Maybe it's the pump kit that needs to be replaced. Had my pump kit replaced recently due to a worn out seal. As I had the abovementioned symptoms.

I'm not sure, the mechanic took out the brake pump and show me a hole, say the thread inside worn out liao.. My symptons are sometimes when i brake, it's very stiff and sometimes it's very loose.. Yup especially when it rains, i can pull in the brake entirely, and during a hot hot day, i only need a small pull and the brake is on.. I went to wash my brake calipers, change O ring, change brake pump and the problem only improves a little.. Last time my brake could even jam itself at traffic lights.. The mechanics say most prob is the master brake pump spoil cos every other thing is replaced liao..

Ths is very normal lah...if clutch plates wear..it's hard to change gears. Using thicker eo does help :)

Ya... understand that. using maxima extra... should help to a certain degree i hope.

What i trying to ask is that if change those plates, will i have a easier time w gear changing etc... by how much? Jus want opinions b4 deciding on doing any maintenance on the 3yr old bike.

I think he meant the tapping of brake lever. in different weather conditions, the brake engages with different finger strength applied to lever.

hot weather -> tap a bit the brakes bite the disc daamn hard

wet weather -> must pull in lever (machiam clutch in) before brakes bite disc

Got try playing ard with the screw at the lever as quickfix? loosening it could help. at least it did for me.

Hi

I think his main problem's not just adjusting the screw of the lever, he has a bigger problem. What I'm asking is to take a picture of the damage part and we can compare. Cos I also had his problem too. I had to replaced the entire brake pump kit to have effective brakes.

my idle rpm dropped from abt 1200 to 1000 flat. manual states 1350 +/- 100. thot its incorrect tuning but my bike is new.. mileage only 600km (still running in hehehe). cudnt be tuning rite? but dunno leh..

IMO,

if you guys intending to buy new master pump, can try CBR 929 one.. is 16mm compared to S4 stock 12MM IIRC..

the price wise should be a bit more ex, but it's quite worthwhile..

guys, i jz came back from a trip. went to bukit tinggi. it was fun.

btw, i jz noticed, when i "pushed" my bike, around 5K rpm onwards, it sounds like a jet plane sound until it reached 7k rpm, where infamous VTEC sounds is unleashed lol... hmm.. nothing's wrong right? haha
