Frankly speaking, if u are riding at 90km/h (well it our top speed legally found in sing) and u crash. does it matter u wear jean or short, slipper or shoe? does the jean and shoe will protect u well enough?

Our GSR rider that went to m'sia and due to mistake of a car, he crash his bike, don't tell me he is wearing short but i think he will be properly attire and yet his leg got cast due either broken or fracture.

i have seen youngster tht worn bermuda and slipper and i have ask them, don't they value their life? well the answer is always, "Yes." but s'pore is a hot country and it rain "suddenly"! but what i observe is tht they tends to ride relax.

But i believe a good, well brand full face helmet, worn properly and secure properly can save life!

I'd say when riding, it partly depends on luck as well. Even when riding at 50km/h kena f()*&^@#($#% from behind. What more kena dragged on the bumper. I was lucky the car went over the leg and not my torso. LUCK is jus part of it. Still have to do our part to be safe... Anyway if anyone see this plate JEE120 in Singapore. Pls do call me. Thank u.

got difference bro.. seriously. that extra layer of material can lessen the abrasions that you might get. shoes can protect your feet from abrasions as well, unless you wear them loose and they come off easily. but we're talking about touring anyways. i thank the heavens that i decided to wear my jacket, FF, boots and gloves when i had a fall while riding in Singapore a while ago. only had abrasion at the knee and a partially torn wrist ligament. it could have been much worse. take it from me, you either go through the hassle of putting on all those stuff to protect yourself, or you can just wear shorts and slippers and suffer the consequences, should, touch wood, something happen.

You're right about that. When we ride on road... be it 30km/h or less, when we fall ... we will surely get abrasion. Even with protection apparels, we will still get injuries. It's how much the apparels can help to minimise the injuries... for those who have experienced it first hand... they know how much it is worth to wear the protection apparels while on road. For those who heck care ... they will have to learn the hard way when *touch wood*...

something to share,

i got my licence in 1998. from 1998 till 1999, for every single month i got into an accident,

from a small abrasions on palm,

to heavy abrasions on the entire right arm and ride shoulder,

to a hole in my left side of my body,

to abrasions on my whole left side of my face till my friends called me the two face,

till i left with 0 points and i took my class 2A with that 0 points...

and till to date, the only time i wear armoured jackets, boots, gloves and full face is when i go touring or track... other time in sg, is either sandal, shorts, jeans, shoes, singlet and my normal half face helmet....

as i get from class 2A to class 2, the experience i got from all those accidents really taught me alot, which money cant buy...

asked arzme, how i got into an accident with ONLY an injured balls and ah chong repair my entire bike...and i mean the entire bike...

its all depends on how u ride and react to situations and how u plan ur fall instantly, of coz with luck on ur side..no use falling on the pavement and have a car ended up on the pavement with u underneath it...........:)

and i got no intention of boasting or showing off.... all im trying to say is just ride with care...:)

well, to be honest, I got my license in 90s also.. And so far no big accident happened on me **touch wood** I always tell myself don't speed.. especially in trunk road and heavy traffic road.. you can beat the jam by squeezing the stationery vehicles BUT NOT WHEN THEY ARE MOVING!! NO NO!!

NO SPEEDING ON WET!! if u ride like Devil, well, you wear Arai helmet, Dainese suite, Alpinestar boot also useless.. (we heard that Arai Helmet also can break into 2 if impact is too huge)

Well thats what helmets are for. They crack taking all the force instead of your watermelon taking all the force.

Ahh!!! Well fate (or luck some call it)!! Even with full suit the rider can die. Even drive a car, and the whole metal covering the driver, the driver can die.

Some had accident every month n yet still ride while some didn't have an accident but their first is the last one.

To each his/her own.

It's for personal protection that you wear these safety apparels during touring. It will not prevent you from going touring, but you're putting your life at risk once you start the journey. Do keep in mind, there are many factors and elements that pose danger during touring... so when accident happens, these apparels may save your fingers, hands, legs and most importantly... your life.

yea have to get all thoese things first before going touring sia lol

Hey guys, been ghosting in the thread for quite some time and now then only decided to intro myself as a GSR rider. Heh.

Anyway HJC helmets are so-so in my opinion. I think the visor is abit flexy and I don't like the fit, but thats me anyhow. Go try out a few then decide which one suits you best.

Different helmets have different fittings and different "Feel" to it. U gotta go down and see it yourself. U may hear it "Calling"... I know wat it feels to be called. "IT" is still haunting me now... Helmy, testi and razi would know. But keep it shut k guys. Secret... hahahah... The rear shocks is a good replacement also.
