Easy....open tank and take out air box....See inside. If got K&N Sticker or emblem, its K&N. Correct me if wrong. Stock filter iz it white in colour (before dirt sticks to it)? Other colours usually represents aftermarket.

I cant recall if there is a K&N sticker or emblem, but i do recall the colour is dark red and it has its part number (SU-6006) embossed on the filter itself.

Which shop to go to, that will be up to your own personal judgement. One's opinion may not align with another.

All I can say is that, I'll go down Unique for anything major but nothing routine as well as for most bike shop as I like doing these things myself.

EO = Use what you prefer. Oil Filter - Stick to Suzuki Original Filter as the thread for it is Suzuki's proprietary thread.

Spark plugs - there's no NGX spark plugs available, I think you mean NGK. Iridium is definitely more durable than regular spark plugs but if you were to change Iridium sparkies as often as you do, I think you should just stick to the original sparkies meant for GSR4 which is NGK CR8EK, the "regular" spark plug. Besides, I don't think it often much boost in terms of performance.

K&N, Pipercross, DNA, BMC Air filters are known as "Aftermarket" Air filters and more importantly, reusable and washable. Foam filters such as Pipercross have the option of using other cleaners meant for foam filters to clean rather than using the Proprietary cleaners for these filters. K&N filters have their own filter cleaner and is available from Ah boy at quite reasonable price. Anyway, you should clean it regularly.

Battery are fine for an extended period of time as it is charging as the bike is moving. Unless it is failing to maintain the charge as can be detected by a voltmeter, should you mount it on.

Things to note are Chain and Sprockets, Brake pad, Brake fluid, Tires, General Wear and Tear, Lighting, and many many things abnormal that you might detect on your daily riding.

THanks Lexanez. Let me try planet motors, quite nearby in Ubi and I like their attitude. Just hoping that they have the originals if needed. I dont have the petrol tank holder .. and not many tools .. so have to wait for any DIY coming.

Any idea where I could get the petrol tank holder bar?

Yup, its K&N filter.

I'm using Pipercross so there is an large "X" on the filter.

Sorry, I got no idea what is a petrol tank holder bar. KS Motors are good for OEM parts, at a reasonable price too.

The one to hold the petrol tank at bay .. once its opened. So it keeps the tank on the upright position. Bone showed it to me in the last DIY session I attended.

Do u have KS motors detail?

Your's gone huh? Don't worry, you can borrow mine when I'm not using it on the DIY. Anyway, you should go down there yourself. KS motors don't give much information while on the phone. Its just opposite of Regina, along Jalan Besar.

Hi guys,

I am riding a 2006 GSR.. Been riding it so far, OK. But recently, my bike keep stalling while waiting at the traffic light, and also while riding. Change gear, either up or down, will stall sometimes. Cruising at 80KM/H will stall for no reason. But its like push start, it will start back again. Seriously, I have no idea what is going on. When it stalls, the right LCD panel shows "CHK".

Any recommended shop that I can go to, that specialised in GSR/EFI bikes/EFI coding. There is alot of possibilities for my bike, which I am unsure. EFI settings, ECM going to spoil soon? or a simple gear sensor short circuit? Anybody have experience this before?

I religiously change my EO, Spark Plug, Engine Oil Filter, Wash Air filter every 2000 - 3000 KM. :S

6. Reccomend me any metzeller tyre for touring?

1. Front tyre size: 120/70-17 Rear: 180/55-17

2. I dunno. Not sure if any of the bros here also got put mainstand or not.

3. More like personal preference. Personally i'm using:

$89 PACKAGE

• Fuchs Pro 4 15W50 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

• Oil filter

(from Unique Motor)

Filter? What filter u refering to? Oil? Air? Oil filter just use Original Stock Suzuki oil filter will do. Air filter if u got money and like to wash and clean your air filter yourself, can get aftermarket ones like BMC, Simota, K&N and Pipercross. Personally i'm using K&N. Dun ask which is good between the 4 i just mentioned, cos i never try all 4 before.

4. 50,000km?? thats like 2yrs plus of riding before changing spark plugs. Please dun be so cheapskate. I change my Iridium spark plugs every year (~20,000km). Spark plugs not that expensive.

5. I find it expensive. Refer to my ans no. 3 above. I suggest u save the difference and get your sparkies change. (refer to ans no. 4)

6. Metzeler? I heard the Roadtec Z6 Interact is good. I'm using, and i realise quite a number of the bros here as well:

Pirelli Angel ST

Hope this helps buddy. :D

Front Tyre Dimensions: 120/70 – 17

Rear Tyre Dimensions: 180/55 – 17

Sadly, there is no mainstand for our bike GSR400/600. :(

3.Also what is the reccomended engine oil and filter for GSR 400?

Up to individual pocket. Got money then get better grade, no money get normal grade. Our bike still runs fine in regardless of what brand or kind of engine oil.

4.Izzit true, only change sparkplug after 50,000km?

No. Wow, your sparky is made of what material? Hehe... 50,000km? The norms is about every 10,000km. Usually during every 2 engine oil change. For normal person, we change engine oil every 5000km. So during the second engine oil change then will change the sparky together. I also adopt changing the engine oil filter during every 5000km. Unless using iridium sparky then maybe twice the lifespan(20,000km? - that I am not so sure)

5.Can any advise me rgarding this package? -

$100 PACKAGE

• Motul 7100 10w40/20w50 or OWS 900 Synthomax Xtreme 100% Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

• Oil filter

looks ok.

6. Reccomend me any metzeller tyre for touring?

Already pm you the recommendation in your pm previously. There are only a couple of Metzeler tourer tyres.

This is my expericence with the "CHECK". Only happens when the kill switch is turned off. I am not sure if engage gear (bike not moving nor engine on) will show or not.

Do you always use the kill switch to turn off the engine? I had this encounter before on my GSXR and ever since I never touch that switch again unless its for emergency. If you do, you can try to use WD40 or equivalent to lube the rocker switch. There maybe dirt stuck there which kills off the bike engine.

As for Error codes, you can try setting the bike to Dealer mode. http://forum.svrider.com/showthread.php?t=118534. Ours is located on the left hand side near the toolbox section. This will show the code if something were to happen. Remember the code and see if the people here can help out.

BTW no need to do such regular servicing. Yours is too early. EO fully can actually last 10000KM. Sparks normal one can lasts 40000KM (its juz made of metal), iridium they can can lasts 100000KM and if aftermarket air filter can lasts 60000KM before washing. Doing too much may damage the item. Example Sparks if you keep changing 2000KM - 3000KM, wont the screw thread wear out? Or if the air filter you keep washing, wont the fibers deteriorate faster?

My practice..... EO every 3-4mths or 5000KM. Sparks every year as I would like to see the condition of the plugs, a lot can be told/seen of the engine condition. Once take out, I'd juz replace with new ones coz its cheap so I dun intent to get iridium unless for race use. Ohh and becareful of heat range as if you get plugs with higher heat range, you might fry your plug cables. Air filter have yet to wash...not dirty yet hahahah.

Try to google online and you will be amazed at the information you can get.

In the end it depends on you. hahah. I always change every year. I clock about 25000 or more and if like dat it does contradict with bro cyrix post of 10000km. If so means that every 6 months I need to change spark plugs leh. More on spark plug on http://www.autohausaz.com/html/spark-plugs_spark-plug-wires.html

And why I said my plugs are always fine....coz it looks like Number 1 every time I change plugs every year.

Haha, stalling while on the move. Had a scary experience when I was riding my Phantom and it's only on the 5th day of my ownership. Was in the CTE tunnels on the rightmost lane when the engine died, thought was out of fuel and proceeded to switched to reserved but the engine refuses to start. Had to stop but cars refuses to let me filter left and so, I tried to stop as close to the right of the lane and it was just after a bend!

Hell, almost got knocked into by several cars but managed to move off as soon as I discovered I engaged the engine "kill" switch by accident. So I'll never touch the "kill" switch anymore!

Iridium has high resistance, that's why it is more durable. Servicing wise, there's always a routine people adopt but of course, each to each's own. Say within a year? Oh, don't neglect coolant and brake fluid too. Doing research on your own will help greatly too.

I've never heard of tires failing inspection unless they are meant for off-road purposes. Correct me if I'm wrong as I've only went for inspection once in my life and that was for my Phantom. Still, your tire looks good to me as the threads still looks deep enough.

Oh yeah, front and rear tires tend to wear out unevenly.

The issue for spark plug is subjective to the rider too.

"Service life estimates can be up to 60000 miles for normally aspirated car engines and up to 20000 miles for motorcycles - this is extremely subjective though, a high revving motorcycle or extremely modified car engine will most likely wear plugs out in a few thousand miles." - quote from a source.

Like Razi mentioned, it is best that you are able to take out the sparky and check the color. There are some spark plug charts which you can use to see to determine whether your spark plug is still good or requires a change.

Hmm... my total mileage now is about 34,000++km and I have changed my sparky for three times already. Count me kiasu or a person who like to play safe. I am not a "techky" person, so I don't open my bike to inspect the spark-plug. :)

I forget to mentioned that my yearly mileage is about 10,000km due to the distance traveled daily is short. That means that I also change my sparky yearly just like Razi.

Eh? Really ah? i frequently use the kill switch to turn off my engine. Guess i should stop this practice.

Well, end of the day, its up to you. Its true wat IvikaRazi said, normal plugs can last 40000KM (its juz made of metal), iridium they can can lasts 100000KM.

But do u feel confident that it is still working fine after a year's worth of riding? Dont you wanna open up and check at least once a year? And while you're at it, might as well change like how IvikaRazi mentioned?

If u have the moo-lah, no one is stopping you from servicing every month. Inversely, if u are cheap and dun wanna change anything for a year, you only have yourself to blame for not maintaining your machine properly if any problems come up.

haha, i see thanks guys.

anyway, would the tyre be good?

Your tyre still looks good. From what I see, the thread is still deep and the profile is still round. Just go for the inspection, I dun recall they check the wheels leh?
