Agree with what bro IvikaRazI mentioned about starting voltage requirement.

Went overseas to NZ for 3mths, removed battery before I left, placed on wooden surface and coated both contacts with silicone grease to reduce losses.

Came back, tested with multimeter, found it was 11.85V. Thought siao liao. Wired up the gsr, cranked, and it fired up first try. Quickly kill engine, then do crank-kill, crank-kill approx 10times to get oil to the parts where they have drained from for 3mths. Then start and go. Mebbe got a good batch of stock battery. :)

As for batt, YMMV, but I might have been lucky with mine.

Hmm... mine is always at 11.3v every morning when I inserted my key and turn on the power. I can start up the engine just fine. One press of ignition and the engine got fired up. I dunno there is such minimal voltage to be able to crank the engine? My volt meter is linked directly to the battery as well.

Is there anything connected to the battery other than you voltmeter and the bike's main powercables? There maybe something that is drawing current from the battery. Usually I see people connect their voltmeters to the ignition powerlines. Mine is set as follows [battery] [Volt Meter] [Accessories] on the wires. This will give me the most accurate reading of the voltage.

This is the guide found online

Maybe you're right about battery drain from using other component as I have my bottom blue light(by default not on), ciggy charger and alarm. Even the mech also advise me not to add so many electrical component.

On thinking back, I think my volt meter is not linked directly to the battery bah... I have to turn on my bike then the volt reading show up. I guess you're right about linking directly to the ignition powerline.

I am curious ... ever since I first started installing the volt meter, the base reading is always at the range of 11.3-11.5v leh. Maybe the alarm system is the culprit in draining my battery. Anyway, I'm ok with the reading because so far I have no problem with starting my bike. It's always one press to start.

Yups as long as you know your bike....Should be fine. Maybe you might want to take note on the reading. Maybe you could use a multimeter to measure the battery's voltage when the bike ignition is On. The from there can do a simple maths.

Eg Multimeter shows 12v and volt meter shows 11.4 so the difference is 0.6v. With that in mind, you will know that if voltage falls around 11.6v, get ready to change battery. So a simple maths of 11.6v-0.6v = 11v shown on your volt meter saying the battery is holding a charge of 11.6v. Its just an example.

Yah, good idea. I will go back tonight and dig out the multimeter from my storeroom and do the test reading on my battery. Anyway, my battery is less than a year old. Dun think my battery is dying so fast right?

Yups should be alright. The battery can last about 3 yrs if take care properly. So once cross 2 years old line, do monitor. You dun wan the bike to fail in some desolated places (Singapore still OK, imagine Malaysia or Thailand hhaha).

Dun scare me leh... I'm going up north next month. Haha...

Anyway, the volt reading is the same during my first two trips to Thailand... so I dun forsee it failing me. *touch wood*... s.h.i.t happens... :p

Anyway, I will always go for a thorough checkup at the bikeshop before my trips. Just wanna be sure my bike is in tip-top condition before touring... dun want to let down or be a hinder to my fellow riders during the tour.

Cheers.

hi, need advise on my gsr..

recently i've service my bike with NGK Iridium Spark Plugs,OWS Syntholite 800 10W40 or AGIP Tec 4T 10w40/15w50 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil + Oil filter and also bought a BMC air filter.

I've experience high temp on my bike (96 deg) on congested traffics which I've never experience b4 servicing and sometimes when i throttle the engine seems like it is going to die off soon.. totally no power and slow down.. is it due to overheating? and also if im on netural gear.. my N indicator will be flickering.. like dying also.. i also experience heavy fuel consumtion =.= left 2 bar only (mileage ard 150km) wtffffffff.. y after servicing den e problem comes?

is it due to the spark plug? kindly pls advice T_T

Better send back to the same bike shop that you service. Let then figure out the problem. This is one of the reason y I do not recommend Iridium plugs unless the person knows what he/she is doing. Stock Plugs is the best. From my POV, Iridium plugs tends to have a higher heat range even when it is the same heat range. You may want to Wiki on this to understand more. But it could not be this issue.

Many factors can happen. It could also be due to the shop mech not putting back some sensors thus it detect error and now running in default mode to ensure that the bike can continue to run. My only worry is if your plug cables are burnt. But without seeing the situation, cannot comment much. Do ask the mech to check this out. Ohh maybe can check the coolant reservoir also. Ohh ya the colour of the smoke from the exhaust may tell something about it (if any).

When I bought new bike from Loois, they change a pair of great chrome S4 like mirrors. Key I also get from them at $50 but it keep on/off your bike to set.

I know I am asking something that might be redundant as I have seen long discussions on the topic earlier. But looking for some concrete sum up and the subject is mirrors. My bike has a carbon fiber look aftermarket mirrors which is terrible at speeds over 70kmph. I read earlier that the stock S4 mirror or Suzuki mirror is better. Which one do you guys suggest and where would be the cheapest for me to get it replaced?

Also I am trying to find ERP mirror mount but have found it quite scarce (checked Unique and some shops at Lavender), any idea where I can get that as well?
