Hi guys, need a bit of an advice. My bike has reached the 60,000km mark. What MAJOR servicing should i do?

Brake fluid and coolant has been changed at 40,000km

Front forks have been serviced recently last month.

Brake pads are relatively new, change them at the end of the last year.

As it is, my bike still runs nicely with no noticeable problems.

What about valve clearance/full engine servicing?

What is that actually and should i get it done?

Yep, definitely cleaner but lack lustre, xD

mmk, 60,000km means that...It's time for an engine overhaul. Your current engine is gonna explode anytime soon.

Haha, anyway aside from that. Check out for any rusted screws and bolts and change them accordingly. Did you change tires? Does your bike sounds irregular and the marker on your rpm meter is jumping slightly up and down during idling?

Other than that, I got no particular thing in mind right now. Kinda tired.

Yup, tires were changed end of last year. Basically everything and anything related to wear and tear that could be inspected physically by myself has been replaced. (tires, brake bads, front fork seals, etc.)

Bike sounds and feels fine actually. No irregular or flunctuating rpm. Its just that with the Odometer at 60,000km, i'm more concerned with the parts i cant see, (i.e engine).

Haha, maybe i'm just being paranoid.

I'm not really keen of the idea of leaving my bike in the workshop for a few days and have them strip my bike and open up the motor when i feel the bike is operating normally and has no foreseeable problems.

So my qns is, should i send my bike for a valve clearance/full servicing, or should i just save my money and wait till i feel the bike is not performing well, cos i often hear my frens saying they send their bikes for a full or top servicing every year.

Is that necessary?

Save your money. If it is working....dun touch...once touch confirm more problem. In the end its up to you. Since its your money. Hahaha

As long as you take care of it like regular maintenance, the bike should last quite long.

Yeap was thinking the same too. i just needed a second opinion i guess.

On a side note, today saw Nazadidas on a Honda CBR1000RR. Sweet looking machine!

On another note, rainy day today. I almost fell/slip when i braked hard over a manhole cover on the road.

Fortunately, managed to regain control by using my legs to stabilise myself but unfortunately i stomped hard and twisted my bad left knee.

Sucks to ride in the rain.

Ride safe guys.

When it comes to tyres.. U can't get the best of both those categories.. Its u get GREAT Mileage plus CRAPPY Grips.... Moderate Mileage and Moderate Grip.... CRAPPY mileage but SUPER STEAMING C0CK DRIPPING GRIPS...

But for your case, i'd recommend Pirelli Strada or the ST Angel like most of the bro's using here... Most can vouch that they perform well in dry and still good in the wet...

Of course if u wanna keep the mileage of the tyres good. Do regular tyre pressure checks and change the air once a month or so. Some swear by using nitrogen mix but to me make not much diff.

I'm also using Pirelli Angel ST. Have been using it for the past 4 months, since early December last year. Cost me $450 from Unique. Good grip for dry and wet conditions.

Of course, dun take our word for it. Google up for reviews then try it yourself!

Great video, informative and only reinforce the idea that: I'm not gonna get a bike with orange balls for signals and lack of the twin underseat pipes.

It actually doesnt look that bad.... From a certain forward angle i almost mistook it for a Ducati Streetfighter cos of the aggressive headlight design. So when is this baby coming down to SG?

I might just be tempted enough to upgrade to this when i get my class 2.

Exhaust pipes! Yours a 400 or 600? If 400 you can only choose between Yoshimura and Leo Vince. Take LeoVince if u prefer a more bassy sound(like me). If 600, got more choices; i think.

I dun install PCIII for my ride. Some of our other bros do. Personally, since i ride a 400cc, i think its unnecessary cos:

1) I feel the stock fuel mapping in the ECU works just fine.

2) I only change the end cans of the exhaust, not the whole exhaust system so i think there is not much of a difference to tune the air/fuel ratio my ride.

3) Just how much power do i want to squeeze out from a 400cc motor?

Of course, these are just my personal opinions, but if u got the money and u want to try it out, no ones stopping ya! :D

Get some engine sliders or crash bars to protect your ride. You dun want to have a dent or scratch on your beloved bike when you accidentally drop it while you are still new to the bike getting used to it.

Perhaps maybe u might want to add a windshield. There are several options to choose from. I'm using:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=186377&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1292070033

May i also recommend Scott-oiler for your ride? Its a chain auto-oiler that keeps your chain always lubricated. Makes cleaning and lubing your chain almost maintenance free and also extends your chain life a looong time.

hmmm.... thats abt all i can think of now. Overall, the bike looks wicked and fine as it is. Not much u can do with it unless you super rich and want to change everything (handlebar, grips, mirrors) to Rizoma accessories and change the rear shock to Ohlins.

Hehehe...

Oh ya, where are my manners!

Welcome to the GSR fraternity! Congrats on your new purchase.

Okie, sleepy now. just got back from work. Good night everyone.
