What sprockets are u all using?

Those AFAM, ISA, Vortex high performance sprockets are made of aluminium right, meaning they don't last so long? Are there steel sprockets for street use? Any recommendations?

Chain for gsr400 is size 520 right, but does the chain come in different lengths (as in different no. of links)? Which length should we use?

I'm still on my Stock OEM chain and sprockets since the bike rolled out of the shop close to 3 years ago. Odometer reading now stands at 66774km.

All thanks to the auto-oiler gadget; the Scottoiler Vsystem. Chain still looks good, will maybe replace it next year.

I read a few pages back bout someone asking about these chain auto-oiler systems. Get it, u wont regret it.

Most people i know change to anodised aluminium aftermarket sprockets. Aluminium is lighter than steel, so theoretically u should see a performance increase in pick-up, speed and fuel consumption. (due to the fact that its lighter and has less rolling resistance)

From what i know, based on my limited exprerience on chains (i've only changed it once, at that was on my previous ride), the chain length is 'fixed' when u purchase it, the mech will then use a chain-breaker tool to shorten the length of your chain to fit the bike.

And yes, i believe GSR400 chain size is 520. its 525 for the 600. I think i should be right, others pls correct me if i'm wrong.

Prevention is better than cure.

My suggestion for prevention:

USE BIKE COVER! Or park in multi-storey carpark if possible.

Some of my nuts and bolts got signs of rust already.

Two ways i have thought about getting over it:

1) Replace them rusty nuts or screws.

2) Get those paint over rust kinda paint.

I'm too lazy to get around doing either though.

My advice is as in answer 1 of MMKBAD. Get the screws replaced. Try to get it replaced with stainless steel or aluminium (Not so good as not as durable as steel). I dun think the screws are hard to get. You can buy at any hardware store. One shop that comes in mind is at Kelantan Lane near LAB. Along the stretch of shops sure got one. Do from time to time oil them to prevent rust. And yes Bike cover does help a lot. I rely on my bike cover a lot.

I read that if we change to aftermarket air filter, the fuel consumption will be affected, and we have to go for tuning. What is this tuning abt? And how much does it cost?

Anyone went for throttle body syn recently? Any advice which shop to go?

What abt brake pads? Are there any brands to avoid?

Hey guys, ask u all arh.. When u all kill the engine, using the kill switch, do u swithc it back to normal den off the power by key. Who will be interested in a pair of LED brake lights? Selling cheap. Bought it from this link. Unable to use it due to ABS power intake on my bike. @@

I'm using K&N aftermarket filter. I didnt go for tuning, my fuel consumption remains the same around 18~22km/l depending on how naughty or law abiding my wrist is.

Tuning is modifying your air-fuel ratio, your fuel mapping. Various methods such as but not limited to:

Power Commander

Teka Mapping

Read up the post a few pages back. Bro Ivikarazi has already mentioned about it and gave some helpful links.

In the first place, why u want to kill the engine and off the power? Might as well off the power by key straightaway.

My practice is to power off by key. The only time i use the kill switch is when i come back from JB and have jam at woodlands checkpoint after just top up petrol. then i push my bike to the counter. Petrol now expensive mah, need to save... hehe

The running lights on the display when u flick the kill switch back to running the engine is normal. i believe its the ECU communicating with your immobiliser to verify that it is the correct key being inserting into the keyhole. i THINK only ah cos i notice the red 'KEY' icon at the display is switch on at the 'kill' position and disappears when u flick the kill switch to 'running engine/normal' position.

Come to think of it, i have never given it much thought till u mentioned about it....

How bright'er' are the LED brake lights compared to stock?

My interest on the lights are relative to the brightness of the lights.

The brighter it is, the more interested i am...

i read somewhere it said never to kill your engine via the switch unless necessary. always use the key. not sure why though. haha

Use kill switch too often can cause the connections to become loose. One day, won't be able to start cuz switch internally stuck in *off*. Happened to me in ssdc. Push bike all the way back. Lucky instructor never scold, he knew, cuz he managed to press the switch hard enough to make it work, holding it down to ride to workshop.

Oh initially i thought by changing to aftermarket air filter, the air-fuel ratio will need re-tuning. So it's not really necessary.

My bike's idling speed now is less than 1k even after warm up, should i go for throttle body syn and adjust idling speed at the same time? What abt cleaning the throttle bodies, anyone did that before?

It is pretty bright. Definitely brighter than the stock for sure. It has 36 or 48 LEDs pointing 360degrees. Would strongly recommend using it if not for my bike's ABS issue.....
