even tho if u have alloy block, its still all right to use 92 octane fuel. unless u did more for the internals. anyway the metal ring aj mentioned i think is to hold the exhaust up to the engine. its a secondary prevention to stop the xhaust from falling down..

Come original, u gotta come original...

i've been experimenting with petrol for years .... best petrol was actually 92 ... its smooth and gentle to ur engine .... if u top up at mobil or esso .. use the red nozzle ... but personal recomendation still Shell 92 ...

thanks sharpey n maz for advice.

I tried your method and theres no sparks at all. towed to TA and change the coil. So which coil do you guys go for? the original one or the made in india one? the price is alot difference: $195 and $95 if i heard correctly.

How long do you plan to keep your scoot for wilsonbb? If you're going to sell in the next couple of years then get the cheap one.... Piaggio original should of course be better (can't say why though)...

Er... otherwise.... see how you feel at the time?

I'm not much help!

The way to gague this is accurately is a little tricky...

The quick and simple way is to do a compression test (screw pressure gague into sparkplug hole and kick over scoot) You should have between 100 and 130 with a stock kit in good condition, and 130-160 with a racing kit like a pinasco.

A stock scooter runs low compression (thanks to a squish clearance between piston and cylinder head of over 2mm).... this can be improved by machining the head to correct the squish to about 1.4mm... after this compression will be raised and require a higher octane fuel.

The harder way (but more accurate) to go about figuring out this is by measuring your compression ratio.... I think stock is 9.5:1 which will be fine with 92 octane.... The higher the octane, the higher the compression you can run without predetonation (ping)....

I am currently running 98RON in mine, despite the fact that I have lowered the compression to keep things safe while I dial it in properly... (was getting ping alot to begin with...)

Measuring your compression ratio is do-able... You have to "CC" your cylinder head to see what its capacity is... once you know how much fuel it can hold (around 30-40cc) an equation tells you your compression ratio....

I have a burette

I also have a compression tester. (you can get one for 60 bucks from ebay singapore) search ariestools (lisle compression tester).... Quick service.

As Vigano says.... run the lowest octane that you can (without getting ping)... you scooter will like you for it as using higher octane than you need only creates more heat... Heat = bad.

qn....ducati coil....is it stock?

saw a FBA plate px150 in a parking lot....:lovestruck:

yeah....seems like everyone is switching to 92....

i hear alot of sounds on my scoot..

from the slapping of the mainstand to the body when i let it go to this rattling sound at high revs.....

even my friend who rode next to me could hear it.....

:giddy:

Yes the ducati is stock equipment....

I still think this rattling is PING cephelix....

Does it occur when you go fast but are not accelerating (i.e. cruising at 80?)

Or does it occuring when you're accelerating when already going fast?

Try and explain what the rattle sounds like... is it high pitched, low pitched.... lots of rattle or infrequent tapping???

Cando maz.... but it will only tell you how high compression you have in PSI (and is mostly only usefull to tell you if your piston rings need replacing...)

Cephelix.... I'm betting that it is ping.... but then I could be wrong....

You might try running 98octane and seeing if it makes it sound better....
