Hey... who said it won't run in 4 to 5 years???? These scoots will go on forever if you rebuild the engines every once in a while!

I guess you have a Dan Motor Vespa then (Indonesian) square headlight is a dead giveaway.

Whether or not the price of the headlight is worth it... only you can say. Look around for 2nd hand parts :-)

Upgrading to a disc brake (yes I'm always going on and on about it) can be done at the same time as the headlight and will make you stop much quicker (the halogen headlight only makes you more visable....)

Just give it a go... it might help.... if it doens't it could still be a ping... just not one that is so easily solved....

How is your spark plug looking these days?

sharpey....

sparkplug...haven't taken a look at it since the meeting...carb so far hasnt flooded and my scoot starts with one kick at most 3, after the tilting of course....

so no reason to check....

ahaha..but yeah, i guess i do need to check just in case.....just been enjoying the rides, laying back, waiting for my next pay to roll in and praying that nothing happens to my scoot...

ahaha...

rae's headlight is cool looking.....is that the indon one?

at least I think so.... the Indo one has handles like a px, but a square light... Rae's might have older style handles.... the square headlight was used on the SS180 in the 60's I think.

oooo....it's not exactly a rectangle..more like one with drooping edges..

kos i've seen one with a solid rectangle headlight at aj...

not the most appealing i would say....hahahaha

oooooo......

but is that rae's one?i thought his looked different??...

must ask auntie if can knock mine into that....

mmn I think Rae's is the one I just linked to.... There is another one that looks much like this that was stock on DANMOTOR P150X vespas from Indonesia.

sharpey's right. that's my headlight.

i think indon ones are very similar to wat px's. 2 piece plastic set.

personally...i still prefer the plastic heads. you have more 'workspace' available to like fiddle with electrical or change cables. but the screw slot's a b*tch...breaks/rounds easily.

ooooo....

oh, update on the rattling sound i always hear..

it happens when i'm acclerating at high speeds and when i maintain my throttle at high speeds...usually happens when i'm in 3rd and 4th gear..but will also happen if i drag my first n 2nd gears

same sentiment shared... more space to manouver ya tools and less hasle to change cable and such.. already broke one screw slot after the mechanic screw it wrongly.. sigh. now it rattles at a certain speed.

Come original, u gotta come original...

PING.....

Cephelix.... buy a bigger main jet... yours is a 125..... try a 128....

Also, at the next meetup we shall check your timing (requires removal of flywheel)

Until then, avoid making the scoot ping... predetonation (ping) will eventually put a hole in your piston. New pinasco piston is like 150 bucks :giddy:

Well, changing to 98 won't hurt... it may give you extra insurance (but the fully synth oil is the most important here...)

Yep main to 128

Air corrector to 140 (buy a 160 also)

Middle bit (mixer BE3) stays the same....

So, the aircorrector is on the top, then the mixer, then the main.... they all pull appart (but may need some coaxing)... if you want to use pliers to help, do be careful and use a cloth in between....

thanx..i'll try changing the correcter n main jet first and test them out with 92...

if that doesn't work i'll up it to 95 then subsequently to 98.....

still using R2.....are we able to use maxima on our scoots??..kos my lx buddy said maxima 2Ts weren't made for old vespas

dunno true or not...

How much is Maxima???

Looks like its overkill.... any decent fully synth, like esso or castrol will be fine....

I see no reason why Maxima wouldn't work... I just don't think you need it.

The only thing to be mindfull of is that some oils are designed to be premixed (like you do, add to petrol when topping up) other oils are designed to be used with autolube (separate oil tank and auto oil mixing).... Some though will work with both....

Read the bottle and see what it says... like "formulated for premix" etc...

saw a bottle of maxima for vespas at mustafa going for $12.50....

if i remember correctly, it can be used for both premix and autolube....

maybe i'll try maxima on my next bottle and see if it really is overkill eh??

Mmmn check that its a fully synth oil also... for that price at mustafa I doubt it.

will do......

impt impt....must check...my first bottle of 2T was semi synth kos that was all i could afford...and the vibrations were hell....

quite abit to get next mnth...may not even be fixing the rack....
