Oh and on the oil.... don't ever mix more than 3%.... too much oil makes your scooter run hotter and actually makes a seizure more likely... 2% should be fine if you're stock especially if you use Castrol R2 or Esso Gold or simmilar fully synth oil... (buy for 13-15 bucks from ah boy and not 20 odd at petrol stations).

That's something new. Wat's the reason behind engine running hotter? not enough fuel per jet intake?

i'm pretty much adapting scram theories here. some of them add up to 5% to prevent seizure. more 2t = more lubrication = happy piston. guess it'll soon be proven wrong.

claryce>> adding box's not a crime at all. sharpey's one with box and it looks alright. vespa to me is a bike which anything goes..no standard way of styling/what's right or what's wrong. its very much up to the preference of the owner.

azahoneystar> the green and yellow wire u talking about attached to the gear selector is for the neutral light indicator. Apparently px model dont have it. assuming its an excel bike or those square headlamp scoot. Engine oil use sae 30. what brand is up to u to use. thats for me at least. so long my scoot can move and transport me safely to my destination im satisfied.

claryce> i usually hang it at the hook under the seat. the hook for the side panel. but if rain, say hello to wet helmet. no harm putting box. its a trade off between looking uber cool and convinience.

claryce>> sometimes i secure my helmets on my scoot with bicycle chain lock.. you can add on to the security by putting a bike cover over it. Usually ppl won't be lifting others' covers...

i hope they don't

rae>> i read about the 5% of 2T before too... some ppl abroad do 5% to their scoots as well, no idea why they do so...

2T require higher temp to combust..more 2T, higher temperature??

correct me there

Sorry I can't prove anyone wrong here... I have just read that it makes things leaner, given that there is a lower percentage of fuel in a 4% mix....verses the ammount of fuel in a 2% mix... The autolube mixes according to throttle position and engine revs... anywhere up to a max of 2.5% I believe... You shouldn't have trouble running 3%, but I wouldn't use more than that...

Oh and on the "box is a crime".... Coolness is a state of mind...

My PX is looking more old and ratty by the day... I haven't washed it in weeks... it has a big "ah pek" box on the back.... Who the hell cares? Of course it looks cool... its Italian :thumb:

The box is just sooooooo practical, particularly since its a givi box with a rack on top.... You'd be shocked at the ammount of stuff I can strap on to it... My reckord for beer slabs is 8.... 2 in the box, 2 on the top and 4 behind me (wedged between the box and my back)... Try doing that without a box....

No comments about my alcohol problem please.... it was World Cup time and shop&save had a sale on ok!

Less weight = less beer = less fun...

Although one should never mix alcohol and scooters... unless undertaking scooter maintenance... in which case beer (Religion permitting) is compulsory.

heh, fell in love with that little cartoon 'mtv' already?

agree with u there, sharpey...some alcohol can relax the muscles, feel less tense... very good when you are fiddling with the scoot... which is frustrating, dirty and sweaty

Where's Gweester at.... I do believe he is a firm believer in the principle of beer and scooters...

He's away for CNY I suppose....

I saw that his scoot was gone from TA when I was there today....

Have spoken with TA about considering an import of the Scorpion... so if you're interested start pestering them :).... I'd be good to have a local supplier.

Also spoke about them getting some adaptors for their tyre machine so that it can accept the 10" tubless wheels... getting them changed by machine will be much much easier....

Fingers crossed on both counts....
