wow!! 1965 sprint or super actually i am not sure if there is any..

But well anything 1965 must have some deep pocket to buy from collector or shop(i don"t think there will restore untill someone order.)

so far i can think of at least one shop (Ah Joon in ubi but perpare lots of $$.)

back to the question.

- spark plugs, shorts ones that TA recommends (so far i only buy from them. so far so good.)

-engine oil - actually i never chk. AS long as after the servicing can feel the different

-CDI. HUm..i do a bit of read up about this..been very temp to change.

beside better light ,better start, the power of the bike will be improve also..at the very least will not have the problem i sometime face now..due to contact point. brake and engine die / or have to chk did the rear light blow also wil have the same problem

louder horn possible with CDI and also bulb 12v as compare to 6v easily to find.

as for the price wise..i chk with TA and AJ .a big different in price(in term of Hundred) not sure why the different .?

(should be some spare part new as comapre to recycle)

maybe someone here can help to answer this?

someone ask me this question CDI..after changing it is still a classic ?

after changing, its really considered purely classic. BUT for daily use, its only better to change to 12 v.

heaps thanks sharpy dude!

will ask TA when i pop by too.....

Nobody should hack down any model...we are all in the same breed....vespa

i guess the unique thing about vespa (older ones) is the way we change our gears...using the hands to switch the gears....that is a unique part of riding a vespa...no other bikes does it the way we do!!!

i guess it depends on the definition you gave as classics....

after all, we do mod our bikes with alloy block and all the rest of the enhancement stuff to make our bike a better one....

After changing to CDI, well i would think that it is just using model technology of CDI to enhance our bike electrical running....

i guess there are pple out there keeping their vespa as stock...nothing changed...

I would still consider it a classic due to the year of make....

As for the price diff, not too sure why it so...moreover in hundreds....

you might wanna check what they are going to do for this modification individually or how is it done differently which might give you an idea of the diff....

2 cents!

I didn't think about something though... Chances are that your sprint clutch will be a diff design to the px one..... The cosa clutch is an improved PX clutch (developed for the Vespa Cosa)....

You might be able to mod one to fit...

eh sharpey the new px 200 comes with a cosa clutch isit? i got ask ah wee abt the cosa clutch b4. he say juz stick to the normal clutch cos if u fit the cosa clutch there will be alot of noise coming from the engine. performance wise, yet to try out leh. do update the price ah. With regards to the malossi spring i heard also that it might be a prob if we not use to stiff spring. hard to engange. changing the clutch in the 150 to a 200 is possible. onli thing is need to chip off abit of protuding part in the engine where the clutch rotates. not sure abt sprint model but px it can be done.

ermm.. wat about a vespa, production in 1978 and have a FR plate? thats my case. previous owner took away the AU plate (put to his bike instead!) and give his vespa to me. :slapforehead:

I'm sure more people will have something to say about the cosa clutch upgrade for the PX.... I know there were many threads on scooterbbs.com that talked about how cool/brilliant/worthwile/fantastc/sexy (ok maybe not) it is....

Hi man!

For the CDI convert, i had mine done at TA by uncle Hui, he change a new set of px wiring, CDI coil, CDI plug coil properly mounted w/original coil bracket at the body, and also fixed a voltage regulator n the wires were neatly arrange w/a protective hose.

He is also very particular w/those rubber gromment n small mini items which we don't raelly take notes of, but they are very useful.

But my friend Mark was not so lucky, he has his done at AJ, we compared n found out that the wire are not complete px wiring but are those household fan grey colour wires (!!!) n very messy done.

For price wise it don't matter. important is the parts they give and the workmanship. For mine i was very happy n satisfied with the works done by uncle Hui at TA.

just my 2cents.

cheers!

Anyone selling AN plate and below vespa or lambretta. I'm looking for one. Pls pm me thanx.

Nway classic means vespa that is manufactured before the PX series..usually before 1980. The design is diff. All classic vespa has no horn cast like the PX ones. A most sought after classic vespa is the one that is legally without signal lights which is usually registered in SG before feb or april 1972. Those after 1972 is still consider classic but LTA compliance was passed and coe was introduced. and they haf to be fitted with signal lights which looks ugly. It destroyed the classic vespa body.....sigh...

Posted

COE introduced in 1972? Sure or not?

Signal lights don't look ugly... they save you from being eaten by impatient drivers... That's like saying Mirrors are ugly too.... Hmmm.

The only Vespa's that look ugly (IMHO) are the Cosa, and the 80's square headlight models based on the T5... The PX is cool dude... just in an 80's electronica and bad hair kind of way...

Hope you find an old Vespa... cos you won't get a Lambretta in Singapore without first ammassing a small fortune :D
