Shop Name: Leong Kah Heng. @Ah Kow does welding for all vespas and exhausts.

His friend: Malay guy does all vespas maintainance.

Hi,

Tong Aik is very reliable and SME for vespas... Can head down there with the scoot and let them access. There might be more hidden minor problems which they can help fix..... http://www.teamvespa.com.sg ..... their add and contacts are all there.

Gear keeps jumping means the cross gear is worn out.

Here's what a cross gear looks like.

Experienced this problem before.

But to change the cross gear is quite tedious as you'll need to open up the engine.

Btw, here's how it's done.

Thanks!

Not too sure of the exact cost From what I know of, the cross gear is cheap, the cost of labour is costly as need to split the engine.

I changed the whole engine all at once inclusive of the cross gear before so not too sure of the exact price.

I just got a 1977 Vespa Sprint and the insurance for 3P was just under 170. It cost me quite a lot to restore (better get the engine checked out if you want to buy a classic vespa, restoration is a huge hidden startup cost) It's currently at Tong Aik at Golden Wall, I should be getting it this weekend.

But I hear that the running cost is pretty low and the cost of 2T is marginal. Anyway the engine seems hardy enough since the bike's older than me and still up and running

R u a sub-rider??

I, 25 yrs old, ride for 3 yrs 1980 PX, with 20%NCB, 3P Mitsui also have to pay around 240 .. ..

how come u oni 170?? how they calculate one!!!

If I am not wrong,

it can also be due to the worn-out cluth cable,

just change to new cable will do

(correct me if I m wrong)

just curious... ah kow was ah joo's master, but they seem to specialise in different areas? or am I missing something???

BTW, I sent my scoot to Soon Motor on Sat and the mech found that I have water in my carb!! Must've got there when I sent my scoot for re-spray at another workshop! Anyway, it's my first time experience with Soon Motor and I find their service and price to be quite good. Will definitely use them again...
