itsonfire> i tink $200 for a vespa is worth it, unless its a piece of scrap metal with a useless engine, otherwise if u take up Sharpey recommendations on the things to be done on it, i tink u'd haf gotten urself a very well restored vespa.

 

n i wld track u done too, get another vespa n do it up nicely, den sell for a profit! haha

 

i see the forum, still not standardised with the name vespa owners are called... one moment we are Vesporeans, the nx we are Vesparista, den there's the Vespians (sound more like lesbians to me).

or has anyone resprayed an open face helmet before?

i'm wearing a half-cap helmet, not much safety, but well... look out for every other vehicles on the road, in case they try to be funny.

if you wearing those not-so-safe helmets, try to be super duper ultra kiasee.

 

i tink there are ppl here who disapprove of endangering our lives this way... safety over style

 

i tink those cheap open face helmet u refering to...bside LAB got sell.. tink when u respray ur bike, ask the shop if its possible spray ur helmet together...free!

1/2-caps in S'pore usually selling for anything ranging from $45 - $60.

Yahoo.sg auctions r selling the 1/2-caps for 40 plus when i checked 2 days back.

If u going to places like Thailand or Taiwan, u probably get it cheaper, around SGD$30 plus minus (for my experience...).

 

I usually wear 1/2-cap when travelling short distances..... for longer distances tat requires me to hop up onto expressways, i stick to a normal helmet.

Less chio but at least, the visor keeps the wind from affecting my ride!

 

 

Anyway i pumped Shell 95 just now..... dun dare to try 92 yet. My seller told me he uses 95 all the time n once a mth or so, gives it a V-power for the extra 'oomph'.

 

n to follow sharpey's n jimi's advice, i be cutting down on my amt of 2T oil. I was using 4% so this time i reduced it to around 3%. Hopefully the bike dun seizes up on moi

planetscape... petrol companies, as I'm sure you know, are very good at tricking us into thinking we need the cleanest (ha ha) most powerful (ha again petrol)... V power will only make you think that you've got more power.... it will in-fact hurt the performance of an average scooter (i.e. one with normal compression) as the enigine can't burn it properly....

 

Can you tell us what your set-up is....(i.e. do you have a malossi block?? tong pipe?? carb jetting?) This would make us less worried that you'll seize... Check set-up of your carb esp the main jet... look on scooterhelp.com or vespamaintenance.com for a walkthrough... it isn't hard at all to do...

open face helmet are dangerous. gotta ask yourself whether its worth it? anyway to me that is fine if u going to nearby shop but long distance is a nono. and the feeling of rain hitting u right in the face is painful. not forgetting the grime,dust and stones from trucks.

i ride on expressway without visor...still alright, but i usually have my shades on (in the day) to block out the sun, the dust, the wind, and watever debris that fall off the trucks...

 

at nite or during not-so-clear skies, i wear a clear plastic 'shades'..something like a safety goggles. works well... except if i encounter rain lah! den u will see my mouth wrapped with hankerchief..

thats wat i used to do too 2 types of glass in my bike. for day and night used. haha. until i got sicked of it getting pelted by the rain and got a proper helmet.

i worn half cap for 1 year when i was riding a sprint.

 

Didn't have much of a prob, even when several occasions, where the tp / rov is jus beside me.

 

but still. Its an open secret is not legal. ha. Unless u got those approved ones, material fibreglass.
