back to your problem, heh, was rattling off topic...

i think you can either tighten your clutch cable or get it changed. It might have frayed.

brake pads wise, i think its time to change too, or maybe you need to tighten your cables as well...go down shop and see see?

i'm not very sure of the price, don't want to misquote, so perhaps someone can help here.

Anyone interested in donating their classic Vespa for the Revtec test? since they claim that it will work on all kinds of bikes, most bikes offered for test are 4-strokers mostly 400cc and above. My PX200 is now under my bro in-law's name so can't use it for the test. Does smoother gear change and better fuel economy sounds good to you?

Here's the thread

Please reply ther if possible cos your support will help prove Revtec's claims

hmm, i think only px200 can go for it, since its electric start.

the rest are all kick start and using contact point, while revtec goes directly to the 12v batteries yea.?

itsonfire,

lubrication on the brakes and clutch cost?

clutch is in the crankcase - dont think it can be lub!

brakes - you dont usually lub the brakes....they are dram brakes...

You might wanna elaborate further....

are you referring to the clutch cable or brake cable?

If you are, then i dont think it is necessary...cos if you are riding a old vespa, you have to take out the clutch and brake cables and lub them....you might as well change them....

For inspection

on top of the below list, they will also check the following

- horns

- number plates (if they are strict, to be safe, get the tradition ones...)

- wheel alignment

- tires

- exhaust

signal lights..

front light..

rear brake lights

bike noise level

check ur engine and frame serial no.

smoke emmission

front and rear brakes in working condition

Gweester>>u might just want to 'tong' your pipe if you want to have better performance. 'cause i doubt aftermarket exhaust will be approved. But u can still try asking lta, and let us know the results =)

after u done your exhaust, find that its still lacking the power you want...try changing to a 24/24 carb...should help a lot.

Ejatt>> what ever means you try to find ur vespa...just take your time.. don't rush into a deal. try to scout around for more and narrow down your choice.

just in case you regret.

Ejatt>> U got cash?..classic vespa range from 2k plus till up to 6k...u got the cash, there r ppl selling. GS in sg not many..some are even not originals according to plate n vespa. Sprints got 2 type...sprint V or normal sprint? nway it will cost u a bomb for done up n its very hard to find one in original number plate...most sprint will be modded or have newer plate number as previous owners usually retained their classic plates...

Tink there is one red AH selling for 6k..not too sure..u can try Yahoo Classified...

Gweester, you can look at the Scorpion pipe for a 150.... On the SIP website, you'll see that it has an "E-Pass" meaning, it'll likely be approved for use here, if you submit papers.... It ain't cheap though :-) Around $700 eek.

Basically, you'll need to get a copy of A) The 'E Pass' test certificate, and B) the test results data....

Submit these to LTA for their perusal... if they're happy, they'll approve it. I reckon they will, given that it's approved in Germany (where they're famously retentive )

I know for a fact that Un-Sith managed to get a scorpion pipe for his GT200 approved... Maybe he could chime in, telling us where he got it.... SIP charges a fortune for shipping!!!

Regarding making the vespa have better fuel economy, smoother gear changes, less vibration... or any other wonderful things.....

I shan't be taking my scooter for any test.... I'd sooner spend 2.50 on a new spark plug than 80 odd dollars on some miracle device... Approach with caution... Afterall, "It's a Vespa".... they're meant to have clunky gear change, lots of vibes and relatively poor fuel consumption.... Heck, the basic design hasn't changed since the 70's!

If you've had good results with this product on your 2 stroke Vespa, I'd love to hear... I'd also willining be a guinea pig for a test (provided it didn't cost me money....) I'd rather save for an alloy block :-)

Was using a Proma exhaust previously (until LTA raise the fine from S$50 to S$500)

Proma exhaust - fantastic responds but too bad it is not legal...

I have tried the "tong" pipe previously (quite good but not fantastic) but just scooting and wondering if there is any other legal exhaust that our scoots can use for better power optimization...

S$700 for submission of those silly papers? Gosh!!!

those money could get you more good stuff on your scoots....

a few good exhaust, 2 to 3 sets of alloy blocks, paint work and all...

*Sigh* o_O

Un-sith,

any comment on the scorpion exhaust? or any other legal aftermarket exhaust that you know of?

How much did you spend to get the exhaust approved?

Gweester... don't panic... $700 is the price of the exhaust (plus shipping to singapore from germany...)

I don't think LTA will charge you for doing approval... but may be wrong...
