waddup guys...

the damndest thing happended to me on my way back from shooting..

ard 11+ am...

can you believe it...i rammed into the back of a truck..

the one used to carry workers ard..

went to ah joo again to pound out the dents...

$25.....

really really poor now.....

haizzzz....

and yeah....

well, just wondering now i guess..

not going to do it anytime soon...

just gathering ideas so i can have a complete mental pic of what i want my scoot to look like....

sharpey: sorry to burst you bubble...

but i may not be changing to a disc brake

OH THE HORROR!!

well, due to the lack of funds streaming in into the "help cephelix get a really nice scoot" foundation, i have to prioritize the things i want done..

i may not even be repairing the speedo on the 12th...

probably going to get a new set of shoes for my beloved 2 wheeler....

the fron tyre is almost bare in the middle...

dangerouns i know..

but no cash to spare even....

are you alright? "rammed into a truck" sounds very bad.

After the accident and you decided not to change to better brakes? not that i'm using disc brakes, but if it does make you ride safer, pls do change it. Otherwise try to go slower and be more alert especially during wet weather.

Speedo can wait, it is not important, change your tyres soon man, it affects your grip and hence braking distance too. Not to mention you'll be more prone to skid.

i'm alright....

nothing serious....

can't change to disc brakes yet kos of the lack of funding [do contribute to the "help cephelix get a really nice scoot" foundation.......]

need to change tyres first...

will probably go to ah joo on the 13th morning to get a quote on the disc brakes...

oh, & found a site for scoot accessories, parts etc...

Scoot Shop Online

don't know what currency they sell their products. Anybody has any idea?

wah cephelix u super happening man. so many things happen to u within a short span. your 200 too powerful for u ah. lol. Luckily u ok. wats important u are ok and at least the vespa hasnt had new coat or else heart pain.

change ur tyre real soon. That is the main culprit for skidding esp when the thread is worn out. vespa is prone to skidding. if u no money to buy batlax BT39 ($34) u can always op for Hoop which is $30. both from bridgestone.highly recommended.price not inclusive of tube and labour charge. i usually change myself. hoop better for wet weather. more thread.

take ur time to now the capabilities of ur vespa. ie braking distance, control, pick up speed and anything related. if not u later more heart pain no rush.

eh cephelix u want to change to front disk brake ah? i got ask before cant remember the price. the bad news is it isnt cheap. apart from the special fork with disk, u have to change the headlight base. and changing it will cost more. but what is cost when ur safety is priority. want to learn change tyre? haha hard to teach la. i think i got post it in this thread before.easiest go shop see mechanic change. pay them once but keep ur eyes open. next time experiment urself.

cephelix, glad you are alrite....take it easy dude....

since you are rather new to the scoots and especially during these hard weather...

do take care and pace urself....

kaoz!! really heaps of sh*t happened since you take over the scoots....

i guess you really need to adapt to riding your scoots b4 you wanna do anything cosmetic...

after your pay, betta get the tyres change asap....if you need help and wanna save some labour on the tyre, i could offer help to change your tyres....

does your bro ever help you out? seems like sell you then leave you to rot like dat...if someone can help you on the tyres, he is the best person....

as for changing of the clutch cable, yeah....someone ever post the instructions....otherwise you could learn from the mechanic or anyone here or your BRO...

i guess most of the stuff you can get it from singapore scooter shop, try Tong Aik....dont need to shop online....unless you want something special....

ahahaha..

my bro busy...

summore never see him everyday kos he married n lives in his own house...

so i learn bit by bit.....

during meetup then can teach me everything!..

mainly changing clutch cable n tyres....

ahahaha..

no sh!t lah...

better learn now than later right?

named my scoot already... [quite cliched if you ask me but i just had to do it]

thinking of doing everything at AJ...but accessories buy at TA...

see how things go lah...

hmmmm...performance-wise...

i think i do carb n exhaust...

but see how things go first....

must learn to e-brake on the scoot.....

and my stopping distance is quite far....

is it normal?

and if in high rpms, if i change to 1st gear, then my rear tyre would skid a bit.

normal?

now, the only thing i scared is turning to sharply n the stopping...

cheers!...

you guys will see a beat up but running efficiently black scoot during the meetup

-= Unsure of what to get=-

Posted

yeah...u should slowly adapt to riding....bit by bit....

stopping distance depends very much your speed & road condition ...

the old skool braking system is not dat efficient hence better ride slower....anyway, scoots are not build for speed....

change to 1st gear at high rpm?? why would you need to do that??

you only need to change to 1st gear when stopping....

also if you were to clutch in properly, it should not be engaged....how would your tyres skid?

scare to turn sharply? then dont do it!!! turn gradually...

scare to scare to stop??? ride slower....

Ride safe dude!!!

need to engage gear when stopping...

so when from i speed i slow down, if my engine in high rpm,

n i engage 1st gear, my rear tyre would kind of lock up for a bit, hence the slight skid.

yeah, i know scoots not built for speed...

try to keep to the leftmost lanes at all times....

ouh, n turning too sharply...

kos i dunno the limits of my scoot....

WOW! cephelix! so many things happened to u and ur scoot just as u get it. Lucky ur safe. And i am considered lucky despite some occassions where i almost banged into some other vehicles but managed to weave thru them. hope my luck wunt run out. but nonetheless, if urs is battered up, i think mine is battered up + ugly looking. hahaha.

anyways, about the outing, i dun really noe how to get around singapore as i am just 2 weeks old on road. Hahaa! Bad at directions. any of u guys noe how to go there and are staying in the east? cos i definitely wanna be there to learn alotta stuffs from u guys. maybe those staying in the east can meet up somewhere and we can go together?

about my tyre, the aunty at tong aik adviced me to go change it since its lousy. but i still see the threadings. how to ensure tt my tyre is safe for riding? and my bike has this whistle like sound.. i am not confident to ride at high speeds. scared my piston seize or other damages to the engine might be made. maybe at the meet up u guys can hear it for urself cos the sound is very hard to describe. i dunno maybe its just me or the bike is sick. hope u guys can help me at the meet up. btw anyone can recommend me a good place to service my bike? cos i think my cables need to be lubed cos its hard to pull the levers. and i think my timing is off cos i cant put it on idle for long as it seems to be dying whenever i leave it to idle. but if this things can be diy, then its better. maybe someone can teach me, a newbie, how to diy whtever for the scoots. a workshop for newbie perhaps? haha

outs. cheers

ride safely guys!! may the scooter gods protect u all!

yeap yeappp...alot!!!!..

i stay in the east itsonfire.....

bedok reservior......

all this can diy.....

n most of them will say TA for servicing..

but if you stay in the east, then can be like me n go AJ...

friendly n they tell u about ur scoot....etc

learned quite abit n they dont make u feel awkward being in a workshop.

if you want i can bring you to the workshop...

but i think sundays they only open by appointment...

but saturday no problem...

n ur engine keeps dying when idling? idling rpm too low....

hahaha..noob helping noob..

anyways to all who know > does the rear n front bumper for the scoot actually work or are they more for decorations?

-= Unsure of what to get=-

cephelix>> when stopping, down to gear 2 is enough already. no need to go down to the 1st, cos the engine brake effect is very huge, likely to have a little skid.

and don't corner too low with the scoot since the tyres r small, the floorboard n exhaust most likely will touch the ground. Well, unless u r riding a Singapore Post scooter, then go ahead...

itsonfire>> i think your idling is too low, just turn it up can already. its a little knob on the little box above the engine, juz turn it clockwise (if i rem the direction correctly. haha)

Posted

wah, go AJ....

when i get my pay i'll go again..next saturday morning most likely....

look out for a black FB plate scoot if any of you happen to be there....

hmm...for show eh???

then must reconsider other things...

-= Unsure of what to get=-

Posted

ahahaha...yeah...cosmetic later later can....

just enquiring so i dont make a mistake in buying accessories kos i already know what i want to mod safety n performance wise

ahahahaa..

yeah yeah!!.

the mechanic see my plate number also he say for what i everyday come..

i say i hit a lorry lah!, then must hammer the mudguard back into shape....

2 times i go there only everybody also can remember

Once you see how much better the disk is, you'll want one. I have confidence.

It'll only cost about as much as a new carb (which you really don't need unless you buy a vortex [http://www.hotrodscooters.com])

Glad you're ok....

god of fortune eh???

sharpey > yeah, i don't really think i need a carb now & if i wanted one i would get the vortex carb too....

same fuel consumption after installation?
