belt or shaft is less 'greasy'. In singapore context, it will be 'perfect' as no need to clean so often and can spent more time riding the bike.

F800ST is a nice bike that I am targetting. Once my fat bonus comes it.....maybe will visit PML for one.

But should a chain snap while riding(touring), can fix it back, easy.

Belt unless you bring a spare belt and shaft driven can leak too, which both is not as easy fix as chain.

A snapped chain is just as troublesome. It could be caught up in the countershaft and cause a lockup. How do you fix a chain that snapped?

There's more cases of chain snapping than belt snapping. Leaking drive shaft (keep finger crossed it's minimal), could be top up between every stop.

Let's be constructive and not procrastinate other drive system unless driven one before.

Snapped before, fixed before. Not too fluent with tools handling, 1 to 1.5hrs job.

More cases of chain snapping, but work out the ratio of chain/belt driven bikes on road. I once rode a HD, belt snapped and got to be towed.

I have nothing against any drive system, but just responding to a "not so preferred" chain drive system.

Kudos to you for rectifying a snapped chain on the go.

That's the dakar style. Less heat around the rider's leg.

You will be surprised that. The exhaust pipes are well protected by the handle -bar and footpeg when it's laid down.
