Just checking what EO ratings u guys using? Currently using 10-50 (I think).....anyone used 5-50 before?
I don't remember seeing 10W50 anywhere. Only got 10W40 or 15W50. I'm using the latter. First number is not so important as it's only useful in areas of cold climate. The second number is more important. The higher the second number, the higher the viscosity of the oil at higher temperatures. Hence a higher number would give you less response but with more protection and a lower number would give you the direct opposite. Try an oil with 40 as the second number and then try an oil with 60 as the second number. You'll feel a very obvious difference.

w40 or w50?

i was thinking that we should use the thinner EO ie w40, since viffers heat up easily..

the thinner one will allow the heat dissapation, but the w50 will offer "better" protection.

possible to chnage just the front or rear?

i was thinking since we use the front brakes more.. 80-20, in a harsh breaking

but den, thinking about it agn, i use the rear more, for slow spd control... hmmm..

Get a batt charger to prolong the batt life. Re-conditioned the batt. Our rectifier can never fully charge the batt unless you are riding non stop for 8-10hrs.

Even with new batt,my bike voltage will drop due to that I only ride it once or twice weekly. so every 3-6 mths,I will use a batt charger to slowly charge the batt.

i hav the limbat Ctek charger.. do you take ur batt out to charge? or just directly to the bike?

its wise to change it at a go... its cheaper by calculation...

Hi guys,

I have just bought a VFR800, and was thinking of doing a 50,000km servicing.

What do you guys normally service at 50,000km?

Want to check with you guys where do you guys do the servicing? Any specialised workshops? Or any other workshops where they have does a lot of servicing with the VFR?

The manual recommends 10w40 EO, what brand and grade do you guys use?

Also, i am contemplating to change all the brake hoses to braided steel ones, any other lower cost options other than HEL (which is $1200)

TIA

Kenneth

Since u just got the bike and its 2nd hand....I would personally recommend changing the EO, oil filter, air filter(aftermarket), coolant flush and change....also and maybe check ur plugs while u at it.....EO try Agip.....Maxima sucks big time on a V4! Liquid Moly if u got a ton of spare cash....

Hi Wingzero,

Thanks for the reply.

That is what i wanted to do also, some basic stuff to start off.

I was thinking of re-bleeding the clutch line also, seems spongy and quite abrupt pick-up towards the end of clutch travel (is it normal?)

Will try Agip EO (dun have that much spare $ through), the grade is as per recommended? 10w40?

Any recommended workshops that have (more) experience with VFR?

hmm.. any one tried unique motors @toh guan side?

any comments? theres only a few in the west that can do class2 bikes..

also, i read thru the pages, and some of guys said, 5 k , some guys said 10k, do EO change.

so which is which? wats the reccm from the manual? (sorry, i dont have the manual)

Went there to change brake pads. $25 per set for Goldfren.

I like the service. After changing pads another mechanic rode my bike to 'test'. The funny thing is that the 1st mechanic washed the swingarm/rims of my bike quite throughly using some detergent, because he cannot stand how dirty my bike was! (I busy lah + Scottoiler...). First time my bike leaves bike shop and is cleaner....

Might as well change ur brake fluids and bleed them as well.....while u at it.

Agip normally I used 1 full bottle of 15w50 the rest is 10w40. Shops I can't recommend...diff shops treat diff peeps differently...

Dunno guys for me even with the best grade for Maxima can only last 2k....after that can feel the bike no power....when draining the EO can see its totally blacked...looks burnt out to me.....Agip much better even after 5k feels good....now try Liquid Moly....but my wallet hurts so much with that biatch Moly
