Scoopz

This long-established ice cream outlet has been a fixture at Parkway Parade since 1997, with a second outlet at Jurong Point joining its ranks recently.

Scoopz's fruity creations include rare flavours such as watermelon, grape and avocado.

Another unique creation by Scoopz is sugarless ice cream that is safe for diabetic consumption. Artificial sweeteners like Equal can be added to enhance the flavour. Alternatively, fruits can also be added to sweeten the deal.

To complete the ice cream experience, Scoopz serves its ice cream in myriad ways; on a cone, in a cup, on a specially toasted bun called an in-between, flavoured ice and more.

The ice cream making process at Scoopz is also unique; it is hand made on freezing pans. The flipping and massaging of the mixture results in ice cream that is dense and smooth.

is this nice?

hey fel, in fact i wanted to organise outing to Scoopz for next monday but upon recee-ing at Parkway, i realised that the outlet is a takeaway counter. There isnt any seats for dine-in. Hence I ruled that out.

next outing at serangoon garden is suggested by emptyvessel de.

SCOOPZ

Scoopz, formerly known as Springdear, has been doing big business since 1999.

It underwent a name change this year as owner Alex Chua wanted a friendlier name for the shop.

Before setting up his own shop in 1999, he ran a homemade ice cream franchise for two years. It has since folded.

He does not use an ice cream maker, referring to make the ice cream by hand. Handmade ice cream has less air compared to those made by a machine, he says.

The ice cream is placed on a 'coldplate' and hand mixed until it hardens. It takes about 20 minutes to make 1.2 litres of ice cream.

Mr Chua says: 'Our ice cream is more dense and does not melt as fast, so you can enjoy it longer.'

Scoopz's bestseller is durian, followed by chempedak and rum and raisin.

Each scoop sells for $2.80 and takeaway tubs cost $11.20 each.

can only seat 1 dozen ppl at most.

ice cream not too bad.

only tried two flavours before.

a) rum

b) soursop

like the soursop fav, its a bit sticky & chewy and dun melt easily.

Why are people who ride motorcycles called bikers and people who ride bikes called cyclists?

BTW, single scoop only $2.80.

May be that's why less space for dine-in.

Less shop space less overhead but more affordable pricing.
