MUST TAHAN!!!!

Although the K7 is really a good deal man..

You are the angel....then i'll be the devil....go with your feel....hahaha....

joke aside, i got one question about my tires that i'm kind of concern....this happen to me today while i went for a casual ride around the island.....

i was riding along the marina barrage, the day that we went....and then on my way back, i took the ECP (Airport) route....after traffic light i made the right turn and was about to enter the underpass bridge....initially, in my mind....i did thought of opening up my throttle since i'm at 2nd gear but never really did...then this stupid $%^&*( pickup at the side of the road suddenly made a U-turn and swing right in front of me....I managed to brake in time, but after going through my first experience of fishtail....that scare the **** out of me.....after that incident, i wasn't really swearing that stupid bangala worker but rather deep in my mind, i'm thinking it could be from 2 source that causes this:

1. Tires

2. Brakes

Currently, the bike is using the stock tires...and i remember you told me that the tires compound is hard, not good for corners....Secondly, i also know that the previous owner beef up the braking big time....so this could possibly be another cause for the bike to fishtail under hardbraking.....

Any bros of ESR can give me better advise on the above scenario to improve the ride....thanks in advance....

Slamming the rear brakes can lock the brake disc, causing it to fish-tail. It locks easily especially if your brake calipers are good. Hence, the common advise is 70/30.... 70% front 30% rear.

Hardened tires can be to a cause too, where compound does not heat up fast enough to "soften" and grip the road surface. Consider Pilot Power 2CT?

One other factor; there may be sand on those roads. The roads leading to Marina Bay are used by heavy vehicles. With those constructions, there are sand patches here/there - so not advisable to do hard cornerings or accelerations.

I've ever fish-tail on my bike before and that was on wet surface. Somehow rear brakes tends lock more easily on wet conditions than dry.

Sports bikes got lighter rear as their mass is more centralised or more forward so that the feel in front is really gd(feels planted) when ur going fast around corners in track.

Since the mass is so forward / centralised,a light tap on ur rear brake will lock it up easliy...and if at the same time,ur depressing the rear n front together,u are further lightening the rear load(cos ur body moves forward when u brake) thus all the load will go to the front, making the rear really light.

cos when u depressed the front(dual disc bigger calipers/disc) the load at the rear will be so light that when u tap softly at the rear,it will lock.....what u can do is sit back more to make the rear heavier....n use more of the front n little(v little from the rear)

I learn my lession in PG going into the bmw turn....i use a lot of braking in the front(plus engine braking) n tap on my rear n i lock it in the end fishtail into the gravel.....almost lost it but i hold on to my bike with all my might.....so bottomline is i cannot ride a cbr600rr in track like the way i rode my S4(s4 got heavier rear as compared to sportbikes)so its like almost impossible to lock the rear and i used more rear braking than front in PG for my s4.

For sports bike, better apply the chao chao method,70% front 30% rear,or even lesser at the rear....somemore ur rear is beef up already the braking....normally ppl change brake hose front only, rear they keep it stock, cos front is more applicable / important than rear....as for u,get more used to ur bike, and learn to apply lesser downward forces to ur rear as it's sensitivity is quite high.

Go track if u want then u will understand ur bike better.braking, control ur bike in high speed....

I had the same experience when I was riding my F4i before my busa. I din noe the rear was very light so it shook me when I did a hard cornering for the first time and it fishtailed a bit while i was banking. After that balls came to a halt in my throat.

Even when i did a hard braking on my rears, the F4i easily fishtails. Furthermore I was using Pilot sports tyres, not as sticky as pilot power but still stickier than yours now.

the 70% front 30% rear is a good method. Whats the worst that could happen? Your bike will just do a stoppie lor. But u need not worry abt fishtails.

Recommendations? For a bike of your weight and horsepower, you really should consider changing to sticky tires such as Michelin Power Race or Pirelli Supercorsa Pro. These are sticky tires that you can do hard cornering without worrying of fishtailing.

But if you are not hardcore, MIchelin Pilot POwer 2CT should suffice.

If my strommy project should unable to take off, maybe I'll get a Gixxer 750 at least a K7 for playing purposes..

Thanks for the invaluable knowledge...i'm learning everyday about this bike....after yesterday incident, i'm more wary about my rear braking....maybe my problem is that i'm using 2 bikes at one time....for my runner, i do braking for both concurrently....think probably it's 50/50 braking....maybe that explain why....and i'm cornering both bike like i'm riding a runner........think i got to change my riding style on both bike liao....:p
