just curious.. since my bike kinda quiet.. there is no aftermarket exhaust for steed? went to check out python exhaust, cant see the listing for steed..

 

2nd idea was to remove the silencer.. but was told that i cant put it back in.. hhmm....

Take 1 cm diameter long rod and bash through the exhaust from the back. Sure got sound! The bigger the diameter, the louder the pipes, but still can pass inspection.. Unless you bash everything.. :cheeky:

my bike will suddenly lose power, even i rev higher the speed dun change, then after awhile it go back to normal. Sometime it will also die off at idling... sian...like nv ending prob...i went to chong and amir...still nv really solved.

 

update on the accident: ah chong repair my bike..he says "can claim anot is he settle...i no need to pay anything..3 months later go over to ask for compensation"

Don't think so. Very slight to no effect to FC as well. Sounds good only. Niwei, update on my own exhaust (half baffle removed), getting FC 19.5 km/L with RON 95. FC abt 17km/L with RON 98.. using bigger jetting cos more gas can exit the exhaust more easily. Wana try allowing more air into the air filter then see how the FC. In theory, more air into carb + bigger jetting = more air out, then good FC. Now air box still on stock set up sp the more air in part doesn't apply. :dot:

Usually the petrol/ air mixture not balance then will show that symptom (loss of power). I'm sure both Mechs did the tuning for your carbs so shldn't be a problem already. Maybe it's not fuel problem. Might be electrical. Maybe can 'loan' CDI from T1 and test. Or check the spark plug cables/ electrical part joined to the spark plug cables (dunno what that's called). My bike used to give that problem on rainy days. I just pushed the spark plug cables in place and no more problems so far. Good luck. :cheeky:

Hi guys just gt my steed. Love it totally. Haha morning went service by ah chong. all basic things changed and serviced. Now only monitoring the fuel consumption. Any recent steed riders gathering?

spark plugs, air filter, coolant, engine oil & oil filter, OWS flush, front forks, front wheel bearing, brake pads, brake fluid, alarm, carb washed, steering cone, rear brake light, fuel filter, jets, front tyre, dyna carb tuning, rear tyre, rear tyre inner tubing, rear wheel bearing, fuel tubing, alternator, rectifier, battery, valve clearance/top overhaul, chain & sprocket.

dear all, need all ur help again... my bike died on me the second time...it cant start...after i press the starter button it sounded, but it cant start... after awhile it the starter button cant even sound...

 

2nd time this happen to my bike...first ah chong claim no petrol...now i checked confirm got petrol... any1 have similiar experience?

ignition on - check

lights on - check

press starter button hear 'tiak tiak tiak' ONLY.

chances are starter carbon out. replace it for maybe 50$ i think.

 

ignition on - check

lights not on + press starter, total no respond.

chances are battery flat or fuse blown.

try push start,

push started WITH dim lights, battery weak.

push started WITHOUT lights, fuse blown.

i know every one of you steeders have someone to recommend to. just my share of info. sin ming auto care, alexandra motor #01-19 the boss there is my childhood friend's father. honest business and good service workmanship. i have been visiting them since 6 years ago when i realised that the other mechanics i patronise may not be doing what i expect them to do. might want to check it out.

 

ps: mods, if this counts as advertisement, let me know, i edit. just thought of helping a fellow steeder. : )

just got a steed so newbie reporting! bike is a fine old fl plater. rode it for a 5 days already. today i guess my radiator broke as my coolant was all over the floor at the traffic light. anyone knows the price of a new

radiator?

update on my problem: the previous owner may have broken the radiator and repaired it with copious amount of epoxy.. the mech that i go to made a few calls and told me that a new radiator would cost about $400. no luck with scrapyards. end up refurbishing it with the help of a car repair shop next to the bike shop~ : ) total damage: $200+

dear all. my steed gave me a serious problem on his 4th day debut. when i travelled along the highway at gear 5 arnd 80+km/h, i slow down due to heavy traffic and drop to 60+km/h and naturally drop to gear 4. when i tried to throttle, it seemed like the throttle has no power. i dropped to gear 3 and it's the same situation, no throttle power like as though the bike is on the verge of dying on me.

 

i immediately went to the road shoulder and stopped. i tried off the engine again, and dis time, it wont start! there are lights all dese, but it just give the tiak tiak tiak sound. after trying for the umpteenth time, it finally started! den i tot it was just temporary, so i took off as usual, and went i travel to gear 4 after like travelling 800m, i tried to release a bit of throttle and den the same problem happens again!! the throttle like no power. i changed to gear 3 and it feels like the bike totally no power. i stopped by the side and again, off the engine and couldnt start the bike again.

 

after trying umpteenth umpteenth times, by the grace of god, it finally started. this time i travel only max to gear 3. and i drop gear all dese no problem, and reach my destination. so bros here, can anyone identify whats wrong? shoudl i call ah chong to tow the bike b to his workshop? thanks man. SIGH~~~

Hi dwpang, sharing my recent problem with you. Abit similar to your situation but only diff is when travel in higher gears, no lost of power. My problem is when I move off at 1st gear, open throttle but bike moving slowly like engine dying, so i need to half clutch till I can kick to 2nd gear. After 2nd gear onwards, everything back to normal. But maybe becos I never tried long distance.My ride is short, just a few KM to let my bike charge after parking for days. I called up the bikeshop to enquire and they told me to do a check. Maybe is stand sensor or batt. Few days later, bike cannot start at all and was towed back to bikeshop. I was told to replace a batt and now bike back to normal with loud horn and brighter lightings. :)

but the weird thing is, just now i went to start my bike. it can start. rev gd. sounds gd. but i very scared to hit gear 4. could the gear be the problem? but if the gear gt problem, how can i still start the bike? hmmm. my fren say could either be the battery, rectifier or the CDI got problem. I think all i can do now is to head down Rosli at 60km/h at gear 3 to eunos. sians. somemore now i at tuas...

perhaps can check sparkplugs, the last time I had this kinda engine dying thing was sparkplug problem

 

If cannot pinpoint the problem, always change the cheapest part first

how do i check if the spark plug cable is faulty?

 

Use a screw driver, touch the engine block with the tip and move the middle part near the length of the cable.. If got spark means got current leak..

I got a used rectifier. Cab sell u for $50. Bought it as spare last time, but luckily didn't have to use it
