bro u wanna play with these parts, u have to change 3 things at one go. the air filter, the jettings and the exhausts pipes. any other claims that tell u changing into KnN filters alone will give u better power is jus crap. these 3 components are integral and mods to either component requires u to change the other 2 as well.

so unless u are prepard to use an after market free flow pipe, i will also suggest u to leave it stock.

thanks for your suggestion, Btw after market free flow pipe means "illegal or loud" pipe? because from what i know, there are no legal aftermarket free flow pipe in singapore.:( I dont mind fitting a illegal pipe if it not too obvious or loud.

Not sure exactly what you mean by K&N cone air filter. The Intruder has two air filters, one is below the front of the tank, the other is below the seat. Basically there is no place for anything, everything is cramped up.

Technically, changing of air-filter would need to re-jet, but there is no harm if you don't re-jet on a non-racing machine. You will probably run leaner, but nothing is going to explode.

The Intruder was designed for a 800cc engine, to cater to the Japanese market, a 400cc model was added. So the Intruder 400 is very much under-power, and there is absolutely nothing that you can do economically to make it more powerful.

You want a louder rumbling note, that I can help. No need any money, everything is still legal, should be done within 15 mins. :)

Hmmmm,

let me guess, How are you going to make a louder rumbling note,, If i am not wrong, should be drilling holes on the black air box. Right? tell me if i am wrong.

that's one way. But I found a much easy way. No drillings, no illegal mods, process is absolutely reversible, LTA compliance, friendly to the environment, and don't cost you a cent. Sounds too good to be true ?

Let's arrange for a meetup. Put our Intruders side by side and compare note, I mean exhaust note, and check for "chicken screaming"

well, I respect people who know how to use the "Search" feature.

The inter-link pipe is right next to the battery. There is a clamp to lock the joints. You can either remove the clamp, or loosen it to allow some exhaust gas to escape from there, thus by-passing the mufflers.

So what's plan for your Intruder ?

wow.....thats a new idea.....i'm half xpecting someone to com in and explain the whole back pressure and all that science of exhaust..... i rem when i was in aust... my car exhaust had a leak some where before the mufflers..... sounds louder, and bassy....just at the expense of FC........

mebbe its not so significant on bikes??

i will be watchinh this thread.......interesting

When you modify the stock setup, no matter how minute, there is always a trade-off. For this particular situation, the trade-off is low-end performance. The bigger the leak, the louder the rumble, the higher low end loss. So it's all about balance.

Since Intruder is not a performance bike, the low-end loss is not significant. This bike to me, bling takes priority over speed.
