Hi!

Can anyone recommend a nice beach resort somewhere in Malaysia 8 hrs or less from SGP (riding @ & Transalp)? Somewhere with a NICE hotel or resort; not a run down dump - Im looking for somewhere to relax for the weekend and I like the idea of riding up there.

Thanks!

I think the nearest by road is Port Dickson? Then again, it's hardly near at all.... I also hope there is a weekend beach getaway that is closer to Singapore...

Let go.... let God....

cherating? which part of M'sia? If speed ard 130km/h take how long?

cherating on the east side of malaysia...

Tip of state of Pahang just before Trengganu...

There's 2 parts of Cherating....Cherating Lama (Old Cherating) or Cherating Baru (New Cherating)

The New Cherating is where all the resorts are...

the Old Cherating is where all the Pubs are..during the day it's dead..

best to stay at the resorts at the new cherating and at night take a slow ride to Cherating lama...

but the again...advisable not to ride at night cos it's really really dark n dangerous..

if u take route 3 from JB...u'll pass by junction to Kota Tinggi...town of Pekan...Kuantan town... (recommended for fuel stop)

along the way got some good food stalls to eat...

Hi guys, i'm planning a virgin trip up north to klang/kl with a pal of mine. Just wondering what are the things we need to note besides servicing our bike. i'm riding a s4 and my friend, x9. Nid some advice from u all

-wat speed to travel?

-what impt things to bring or prepare/plan before trip?

-wat if holland or breakdown? lol

Posted

when u going i'm leaving for kl this sat..

things to prep u can read around.. i've not been on a trip for a long journey but min keep urself well hydrated..

traveling speed last time i was on SP meter was about 120 at first then l8r 140.

according to the bros here got alot of workshops along the way. maybe you can go mustafa or ah boy buy tyre repair kit.

if properly serviced, tyres and spark plugs are the 2 most likely to foul.

in the case of holland u can ask the locals ma. maybe go petrol kiosk?

anyway its kinda hard to get lost along the highway most prob is nearing the City then the roads get confusing.

do some research and plan your route before u go. Take note of impt landmarks or anything. if u miss something u can always backtrack to your last known landmark right?

cheers hope it helps.

I went alone 3 weeks back on my ZX9. Virgin trip alone with only one trip to Malacca with my friends months back to support my visuals.

I left at 1.30am, reached Sungei Besi by 4.30 or so. Two stops in between @ Machap and Seremban (remember to refill at GP first of course).

Travelled at 150km/h at night.Make sure your headlight is bright enough and please, steer away from white lightbulbs if you're doing night travel. They will make your front look like a WALL.

Standby a small bottle of mineral water and lotsa tissues cos the smudges on your visor with insects are not something you can live with while riding.

You can buy a tyre repair kit or you can buy the fix-a-flat gas canisters at the Malaysian petrol kiosks.

Go and buy a map. If holland, bo pian, you're on your own but that's quite fun come to think of it..Just remember the correct exit point. The maps also, can only help so much. Once you're there, the roads gets quite confusing for firsts.

When you reach KL, please ride with care. Potholes aside, the sizes of dead animals on road seems to be proportionate to the size of the land itself. Huge carcasses of dogs, cats lying on the road so keep a lookout. Do not go over them else, you might get thrown off as well.

I went in the night, holland until 10am and that's damn fuched up cos the traffic in the city in the early morning is terrible terrible.

Get a reliable Malaysian contact from your bikeshop, just in case **** happens. Also, PLUS RONDA should be able to tow ur bike to the next available petrol kiosk if you're so unfortunate.

Last but not least, apart from being safe, remember to HAVE FUN.

u can get the kit from ah boy... one of the threads some where here :cheeky: got a pic of that.

basically it comes with instructions on how to use it.

in short

you use the tool provided to poke in the wormy thing.

after that u can use the gas canister to inflate ur tyre and limp to nearest help.

advise is not to go on the road shoulder. its worse than a minefield.

1)when big vehicles like buses or trucks pass by u at 110km/h - 130km/h with strong winds or when u pass by them, be prepared to be literally pushed to the opposite side due to the wind blast generated by them.. so grip ur handle bars and be prepared to tilt abit towards the centre of the road to keep a str8 line.

2)watch out for potholes on the NSH. nowadays the NSH is pretty much in great condition i must say except for like one or two potholes.

keep to the extreme right lane of the NSH as that's the lane with the best road condition. extreme left lane is the worst cos all the heavy vehicles use it.

3)but.. if u see someone coming fast at u from behind while on the right lane, always give way by switching temp. to the left lane. then when the right lane is clear again, u can switch back to the right.

4)keep checking ur mirrors to stay aware of the vehicles arn u.

5)always plan waypoints to stop in between the trip for fuel. these waypoints are also for u to meet up again shd the group be dispersed. if u are lost and ur fren is behind u, stop by the shoulder and hopefully ur fren spots u. if he doesnt, start chasing him in a safe manner and signal him to stop at the shoulder. if he is ahead of u, stop at the next planned waypoint. if he is tgt with u, u can stop at the next r&r to ask for directions.

6)most impt, KEEP AWAKE. help enuff slp the prev nite and drink lotsa kopi during the rest stops even if u feel so awake and fresh. cos trust me, when u travel for like 130km one-shot, ur bound to feel bored and u mite doze off esp for nite trips. shd u doze off and experience micro-sleep, good luck to u. u mite jus run off the highway and u shd noe wad happens next.

i wish u all the best and have a safe trip. enjoy urself man! touring is fun!

when i see the mech do doesnt seem to be too difficult i guess..

take the the nail or watever

use something to make the puncture bigger

then poke in the worm with a tool...

then done.

u start riding it will sort of melt itself onto the tyre.

Walk a thousand miles.
