Hey guys quick question. Say my uncle buys a bike. Pays for the insurance and everything.

After awhile he decides to add me as his sub-rider. Do I have to pay for insurance as well or do I just have to pay a small fee to add my name as the sub-rider?

Thanks in advance.

think cannot.

after 6mths then u cancel lor.

i was told that you can renew for any length of time you want...

cancel the policy halfway is also another way, but then you will have to go and cancel it, plus some of the insurance agency will pro-rate, i got my 85% back from NTUC last time.

if you were to add a rider into your insurance (within the policy), we'll charge still based whoever pay the higher premium... min $25.

can insurance be bought for only 6 mths instead of a year

you can with NTUC Income. However, you premium will be 70% of the yearly premium and on renewal you do not enjoy the extra NCD

hi, jus wondering whether insurance can be bought under the name thts not of the owner?

Of course you can. Almost all of us do it.

When you decide to buy a bike and go and buy insurance, you are not yet the owner.

Since ownership can only be transferred after insurance is purchased, almost all of us are not "owners"... yet.

Whether you can transfer a laid up vehicle or not, I'm not sure. But based on one case I have heard (not confirmed) the answer is no.

my situation is tht my fren wants to get insurance under his uncle's name but the bike is currently laid up & i'm the owner. i can't transfer ownership b4 getting new insurance rite?

you don't need insurance to transfer a laid up bike. however, the current/new owner need the insurance and a valid vehicle inspection cert. before the bike can be unlaid.

bugger, kele,

believe you will be both looking at at least $800 - $1500 depends on your coverage (1st party or 3rd party).

insurance depends on mainly your age, generally, below 20 is super ex, below 25 is slightly less, 30 and above will be really cheap...

also depends on your driving / riding experience, if you just pass, also very ex... the more year you have your license, the cheaper it gets...

next, you will be looking at what bike you are getting; some bikes are generally more expensive, like aprillia... the bigger cc you get of course will be more expensive, lastly will be how new is your bike, if brand new will be more ex than old bikes...

lastly is your NCD (no claim discount), if you have not been claiming (that is never have accident) the insurance company will give you discount.

the other way round is true also, if you have claimed from your insurance, the insurance company will charge you more; call the loading factor...

so there is really no hard and fast rule to tell you how much insurance to pay... you will really have to get a quote from the insurance company or bike shop...

hope this helps to clarify...

third party means only can claim if the accident is ur fault & its actually the other party claim u, u can't get any money at all. 2ns party is the same case as 3rd party but at least if ur bike gets stolen or burned, u'll be able to claim
