bugger, kele,

believe you will be both looking at at least $800 - $1500 depends on your coverage (1st party or 3rd party).

insurance depends on mainly your age, generally, below 20 is super ex, below 25 is slightly less, 30 and above will be really cheap...

also depends on your driving / riding experience, if you just pass, also very ex... the more year you have your license, the cheaper it gets...

next, you will be looking at what bike you are getting; some bikes are generally more expensive, like aprillia... the bigger cc you get of course will be more expensive, lastly will be how new is your bike, if brand new will be more ex than old bikes...

lastly is your NCD (no claim discount), if you have not been claiming (that is never have accident) the insurance company will give you discount.

the other way round is true also, if you have claimed from your insurance, the insurance company will charge you more; call the loading factor...

so there is really no hard and fast rule to tell you how much insurance to pay... you will really have to get a quote from the insurance company or bike shop...

hope this helps to clarify...

thx lots... really helps...

Can be done with Mitsui. The bike will be registered with his name as the owner with non-riding insurance (you as the sub-rider must have class 2A). Once he pass, notify the insurance company to change the policy to a normal one. No problems with LTA at all.

I did that when I bought my CBR400RR last year :cheeky:

questions...

my current situation is this

my insurance premium is almost due for payment, but i wanna get a super4(2a) in a abt 2 months time.

so i'm wondering if i pay for my current premium which is 2nd party for ta200, can i change it later when i upgrade, meaning i pay the difference.

and i've read in the previous posts, people advise not going the motortiam to pay for insurance.

on my insurance bill, they stated that i can pay by internetbanking etc, so the legal documents will be mailed to me or what is the procedure?

sry this is my first time paying for insurance myself, so lots of queries.

thanks in advance for reading :)

nov04 - oct05: TA200

you can either renew your insurance to the date you want (say 2 or 3 months) or can renew the whole year but later cancel the policy and ask for a refund on the pro-rate.

but have it's issue. if you renew for a short while, will you be able to renew your road tax since mini is 6 months.

if renew for a year, still have to go and cancel the policy as well as it is not a 100% refund. think will get back around 85% of the pro-rate only...

eg, you buy 1 year for $600, but only use for 3 months. by right you are suppose to get back $450, but maybe you only get back $382.50

dun quite understand your question...

coverage as in 1st party or 3rd party izzit? or period of policy?

that one will remain for as long as the policy is valid, so cant change half way.

dun understand your 'payment' and 'documents' refer to..

i mean is from insurance coverage from ta200 to super4

the payment i'm referring is how i'm gonna pay my insurance. i saw on the bill, it states that i can pay directly via internet banking and various paying methods...

documents i'm referring is the insurance information when u use it to pay for road tax and things as such.

so i'm wondering if i pay online, will i get the documents i need to renew my road tax?

not too sure on this, the last time i did my road tax, my insurance is still in force...so no problem.

sry for being unclear :)

I re-read until I blur.

Can I just find out.

1) When is your insurance for the TA200 due?

2) When is your road tax due?

3) How old was your TA200? Was it due for Inspection?

4) When do you estimate you want to let go of the TA200?

option:

1) go for inspection

2) renew road tax for 6 months

3) buy insurance for 2 months/6 months

4) sell TA200 and get your refund of your unused premiums (80% value back) when u sell in Dec 05.

the s4 is separately assessed. whatever the value back above for the TA200 is just simply returned to you for your later transfer into your S4.

In other words the scenerios might be:

You pay $400/- for a 2 month insurance to continue riding that TA200.

end one month you sell TA200 bike and get back estimate S$160 from your insurer (for the insurance).

your s4 insurance is possibly $800-$1000/-. so that $160/- can only come in handy for maybe paying for your petrol. :D

you cannot get the insurance for (say 2 or 3 months) whenever you like. the extension is for those who's road tax does not match with their insurance.

pls note that getting back 85% of the balance unused period is only for NTUC Income.

when are you getting your S4? if after 23 Oct 2005....

1. send your TA200 for inspection before 22 Oct 2005,

2. renew you TA200 for another year, and

3. renew TA200 road tax for another 6 months.

got your S4 and sell you TA200 after 23 Oct 2005...

1. get a refund (if any) from the insurance company.

you cannot transfer the TA200 coverage to S4.... but you can cancel your TA200 insurance and used the refund (if any) for the S4.
