alamak.. where is it exactly eh? sorry bro.. and mind telling hw much?

I think from CTE towards City from AMK exit Braddel road then make a left turn. Travel straight, keep to your left and make a left turn at the first or 2nd junction. Can't remember but its around there bro.

When I feel sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story. Hehe :thumb:

build-quality wise, bitubo is much better with the gun-metal colour finishing. no rough/coarse surfaces on the shock itself.

ohlins, i can't comment the same..

bitubo is much more trusted by s4 riders, slightly higher ride-height(~5mm or so) for better handling.

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

the recent bitubos are gun metal on the springs

are you talking about the shock body or the springs?

so far the only 2 colours available for springs are black and red.

shocks for s4 generally comes with red springs, but there are a couple of limited-ed shocks with black springs on the road..

the only springs which matches your description, is the titanium springs which does not come STOCK with the shocks

all i can say is that, you pay for what you get..

and top $$$ doesn't necessary mean top-value product.

products like suspension, you have to look at various factors:

1. price/affordability - how much are you willing to pay

2. serviceability - is there ready spares available at service center, or worth to service anot

3. show factor - how bling you wan it to be

4. resale value - how much can you get back if you resell it after your bike is sold

5. performance - will it make your handling better over the long run and not just short term?

point 1 and 4 usually will link up with one another.. renowned brands with good reviews will usually have higher resale value, meaning you wun lose much $$$.

point 2 is of extreme importance. it is always better to know that a service center is always around should anything go wrong with the shock.

Very valid points and thanks for sharing with us. I have no idea with aftermarket shocks, what's good, serviceable and not etc.

I am after comfort while riding, to be able to corner better with less bounce at front or back. Don't want to spend a lot and doesn't have to look the best so long as it does a good job. Don't want to spend as much as ohlins.

Most the talk in this thread centres around the rear shocks, what about the front forks? Are they adequate as is and people don't modify them with aftermarket parts cause I feel even with the front forks at their hardest setting the front end somewhat dives under heavy braking or when going up steep driveways.

With my old car I simply took it to a car suspension shop got all the shocks changed over to sporty ones and it completely changed the handling of the car and made it feel much better driving around corners etc.

Will changing the shocks etc on the bike have a similar effect?

currently the most popular and preferred aftermarket shock will be bitubo.

reason being the service center for south asia is right here in singapore.

product is affordable, and comes with 2 types to cater to different budgets.

front fork, a change in oil weight will be more than sufficient for most. chances are your fork oil could have broken down and lost its damping properties OR the oil weight is too light for your weight and riding styles.

and definitely, the simplest way to improve your bike handling is to change your suspension. all it takes is just a 100m ride after you bolt on your new shocks and you will feel the differences.

but of course, you have to set it up to your weight and preferences for the best feel..

cheers!

Bitubo looks nice and is getting positive reviews from what I can see.

I am in Australia so will ask my mechanic and local shops what their views on it are.

Bikes getting serviced at the shop so will get them to replace the front fork with the appropriate oil. To make the front a bit more harder and less bouncy what sort of oil is recommended? Do I need to go for thicker or thinner?

After that if still not happy will look at options on rear shocks.

pardon my minute knowledge, but isnt the thicker the viscosity of the oil the more harder the better?

if too thin, the forks may bottom out due to too less friction?

the internal springs also plays a part too. think really have to tinker with the settings before you can finally find what you are looking for?

Read a mag on S4, frm japan, they used RVF's front USD forks, the whole triple tree, steering yoke & stem to convert.

Tk note that the handle bar have to either customize drill holes for the handle bar riser to fit or change to using clip-ons...

but other than changing the stiffness of the spring? there's really nothing much to tinker about with the stock forks.

When touring, its usually the rider that give way first before the bike itself.

got box got tour.

what Im saying is to playing to the different level of fork settings.

i.e. thin to thicker fork oil or stiffness of spring or otherwise, to find the personal suitable set up.

as factory build is in conventional setup.

& unless u're anal about the fork sleeve tube & the bottom, then I guess the next level is to find a suitable aftermarket forks replacement... Ohlins, bitubo or WP? which I doubt they have it in this bike's spec... xD

you could get the inverted forks from rvf. i think gsxr400 is using inverted forks as well. as kev mentioned, you will need to change the top and bottom triples, and check if the brake calipers, steering stem, rims fit.

your mechanic will also need to drill the top triples to fit the bar risers for your handlebar, unless you intending to put clip ons, which might have an issue with clearing the petrol tank.

there are still other stuff to consider to change from conventional to inverted. in short, trust me, its alot of work.
