Hi i think you are looking for protector fork pipe, something like this:

This fork pipe is from VTR1000 the oem number for that part is: 51460-MT3-611

But i have also found this dust seals for NC39.I think it is what you are looking and it is for your model.

Hi AkalaPovic,

generally speaking, all cb400 S4s are fitting with the same stock oem showa. I've been told that the PB1/VerS/VerR versions are slightly different than than the Vtec versions. Need some "adjustment" to fix the Vtec ones onto the non-Vtec bodies (I dunno true or not, hope the S4 lau jiaos can comment)

It is possible to be "rebuilt"

there are also other (aftermarket) options i.e Gazi, Bitubo & Ohlins to name a few.

hope this information helps.

Just my $0.02

where to get rear showa serviced and at what price? will the changing of spring helps in better handling?

I've enquired before, Tachyon motor does showa servicing.

Ask the mech Amir there. he can advise you.

Hello, I want to change the old showa rear shocks with new ones but do not know the exact measurements. Can you tell me what are they?

On the internet I see that 330mm-13.5 / / / / 340mm-12.5 but I did not clarify which is for a CB400 vtec. thanks

Hi All S4 bros,

I just got my S4 recently. But I've heard there have been cases of Showa Suspension got stolen... any recommendation for anti-theft method to protect our beautiful suspension?

Unique motor selling security bolt.

You can check it out in the advertiser thread.

If not can get lock guard for suspension, cheaper alternative but I feel the security bolt is better cos need adaptor to screw/unscrew.

In addition, the brake calipers screws should be "re-screw" inside out or "anti-screws" to secure it. ;)

Need some inputs. Mine is the original Showa for my CB400 Version S. So should be the same age as my bike.

I asked my mechanic to rebuild, but he say the inner tube has a lot of scratches, and even if change oil seal, may still leak. Hence, he recommend to change the shock instead of rebuild.

Technically, I'm not sure whether can still rebuild or not because of the scratches. Opinions?

Au5h,

Yup, you may face this with models of that age (I did). My mech advised me to change shocks also... mine now GaZi...

strictly technically speaking, even with the scratches on the inside, still can rebuild but like what your mech said, it may leak again eventually.

which motor shop did you go to, btw?

I went to HKL. It made sense what they advised also. They do suspension service, but I'm going to Bikelab soon for an expert opinion. See what they have to say.

And I'm on a budget too. Haha. If can rebuild, I use for another year at least before changing to, probably, Ohlins or Bitubo. Then I will sell off my Showa.

Ofcoz they reccomend to "Rebuild" shock.. But take note, Honda don't produce Oil Seal for your Rear Shock.. Quality of workmanship also varies

End of day, it all boil down to your pocket

Y bother rebuild when it dosent gurantee your shock to last

Might as well u buy a new one..

Rebuild may cost ard 200

New shock may cost u 800 for a branded/ Oem Showa

Just my opinion

Thanks HaiR1 for your input. I am considering your opinion, and it is the most sensible option. Moreover, I can still sell the rear shocks separately in the future. The only let-down to this option is that it's pinching my pocket right NOW. Haha

Hence, I hope Bikelab can give me a professional advice as to whether it is ok to rebuild or to change. Like motorcycles; some would prefer to have them overhaul, while others would rather get new ones.

Yeah man

To each, His own

Rather spend 1 time doin a good job , then doin same things again with additional cost
