Even for lessons in the circuit? I just don't want to attract unwanted attention from the instructors. Once I get my 2B I couldn't care less about how dorky Hi-Viz reflective yellow jackets look. ATGATT makes complete sense to me.

---

I just got a basic set of helmet, leather gloves, padding from CDC and did my first 2B lesson a few days ago. Was quite fun even though I let the bike fall twice when it got really slow.

just focus on getting your license first, that's the most important thing. for me, i wore open face helmet, some cheap glove, and always try to wear long sleeve shirt, if wearing short sleeve shirt, i would also wear arm sleeves.

after getting license, then i started looking around for the gears, currently wearing FF, with armoured jacket, and gloves, still riding a class 2B bike. those are my basic gears. it can get quite troublesome wearing it and taking it off all the time, and i get teased at for being a 'racer' for wearing all those gear, but i don't really care, just ride with those gears. after a while, other people also don't really care what you wear, so in the end it doesn't really matter what those people say.

For shoes you all got any recommendation or any covered shoe will do??

Was thinking of wearing boots for more protection

Any old pair will do. Boots could be too restrictive especially if you're a new rider. You'll won't have as good a feel of the rear brake and shifters

The school white helmet is good for custom design. Pass already just use as pillion helmet. Anyway noob helmet give tester better impression that u not chioggster on road, likely to give chance and let u pass

Yeah! Should always take the test with a lousy looking helmet.

I wouldn't worry too much about protection when learning. Firstly, most learners - by the fact that they are learning, tend to be more careful. Secondly, chances of FALLING off the bike is much greater than CRASHING. I fell once during my 2B course. I got away with very minor scratches only - not even bleeding. That's why the training school insisted on long pants, long sleeve and covered shoes. Next, with the kind of speeds that you are restricted to when learning, you'll likely get slightly hurt rather than seriously injured.

I've completed my 2B earlier this month. I bought a bike and now wear my riding jacket more often than not. I cannot imagine myself wearing that during learning - not so much because I'm afraid that I might stand out or look "kiasu" or be labeled a "racer". But it's super hot in Singapore. During learning, I remember I hardly generate enough speed to have air cooling me down. It's stop and go, stop and go, especially in the circuit.

I'd say that you'd most likely do alright with the minimal basic gears that the driving school mandates - sleeves, long pants, PSB-approved helmet, gloves. Save those extra expenses when you get your bike after passing the exam!

Well my 2cts worth.

When in bbdc, a good white silver w visor 3/4 helmet is good.... Can use as spare next time when u pass.... Well elbow or knee pads is good to own ur self..... Due to hygiene.

When u pass ur license and open to the main roads...its u look after urself Liao...

Helmet, get best u can afford.even better full face or flip ups. Or branded ones like arai shoei Nolan Hjc lazar bell , depends ur Budget.....

Dun tell me u spend thousands of $$$ on bike, and try to save and pay $30 no brand cheap helmet...its ur head u are protecting. If really Budget , get a decent branded one. Will cover u for a good 1-3yrs, $200-400 for a few years not v exp.... If u not flick minded keep changing. Or if u can 2nd cheap norm one as spare in case ur main one washing or wet. ....well pple will u laughing at u when riding a ducati w a $30 helmet...I saw before

Ur head repair will cost many times more than ur thousand dollar helmet. And might not be even able to repair.

Mesh jacket. Any decent brand like taichi or some branded is all abt the same. Damage change. Air flow is v impt as sunny Sg is not forgiving. Moving using a full mesh jacket is not that hot....

Glove at least knuckles protection.... And best leather as not fun when u know ur hands might be the 1st contact....

Kevlar Jean... Super hot mind u ... Even most , normally a normal jeans will do , better than berms explosed skin. Well to individual...

A good riding boots or army boots also good. Riding shoes or mid cut sneaker for bike... Is quite good too.

Pls dun ride w slippers or Crocs.... I ever Buang w shoes, my lace broke into 3 pleces....Imagine w slippers...yucks

Last a decent raincoat. As last thing is heavy rains spolit ur day

..... When u got pillion... A decent 3/4 is good. ...if can a pair of gloves too if ur spouse

I even enforce my spouse gloves and jacket.

All the Abv is cheaper when at times got sale be it branded shops like dainese or motoworld ... Ah boy u can try bargain....

---------------------------------------

Well advice is pple can say u siao.

If u Buang with ur bare skin, u will be siao more....

People also v funny , why u where so much , not hot meh u siao ah....

When injured, pple will say aiyo why u nv wear protection , u siao arh...

Abrasion is painful and can be minimised or avoided.

Always dress for it , not dress after..... All u need is one time...which no one wants....

That's my advice

Some might say I over kill, some say is bare min.....

Doesn't need to ride big bike to wear protection.... Scooter also can wear.

Some must be style some dun care as Long as it's good

It's ur skin hand and legs and head and body .... Pain also goes to u

These are experience from my riding since 16, ...now I 38....

Buang wo protection..., w protection.... Broken my leg in major acc. Due to taxi Chiong red...

I now do wear protection..... For my job and my family.....and myself .... I am still breathing happily and ride defensively .....

Sad to sad I do attend a Friend funnel , pple provoke and not sure racing... Cheap helmet. Crashed and helmet flew off , head injuries died ... At 22 yrs old boy.... Cheap or no cheap , ride safe and live longer ... Winning doesn't gain anything....

Oh.... And there's one more reason why you should spend minimal and get basic equipment, and then only splurge after getting your license and you dream bike - get gear with design and colours to match your ride! Unlike our 4-wheeler friends who's practically hiding inside the car cabin, every time we bikers mount on our two-wheeled machine, the whole bike and gear thing is a fashion statement! Since you've decided to ride anyway, why not look nice on it too! =)

Other than weight, not all shape of heads fits all brands of helmet. I read up a lot online when choosing a helmet. The rider have to feel the cushion on top, back, left and right of the head. It shouldn't feel gap, the. It wouldn't be a good fit. It shouldn't be too tight, it would make you uncomfortable.

There are also website telling you the impact rating of most helmet models. Some cheap ones have low impact rating. When rider falls, the helmet will crack easily and your head will be injured.

Just some suggestion for your safety. Ride safe!
