A newbie question..

If I intend to get a bike from a pte seller, how can I test ride it?

Only around the car park or what?

cause I heard if you are not covered by the insurance, you can get caught by TP. So how to test ride before getting insurance?

From Honda's manual:

The motorcycle presents you a challenge to master the machine, a challenge to adventure. You ride through the wind, linked to the road by a vehicle that responds to your commands as no other does...

hi world. this post is so dead. now is my turn to sell bike. so uh,

1. my motordiam tell me txf of ownership is never done on the spot. need two days. true anot?

2. also understand that need the road tax for the bike. means i have to unscrew the road tax and bring it to the office?

3. btw, transfer only can be done at sin ming LTA office rite? usu how long it takes eh? does it still open on saturday morning? if yes, avg waiting time is how long?

4. also for insurance, if im buying another from the same company while refunding the old one, is it true that i usu can get 100% refund of the unused portion of the old insurance which will be used to offset the cost of buying new one?

5. for motordiam (as is under HP), will they refuse to accept full upfront payment of the entire loan and then return u the logcard? also, wat are the documents to be returned? only logcard? or got others?

6. is there a vicom inspection certificate for the bike as it is more than 3 yrs old. understand that this is necessary during the bike transfer. will the motordiam have it? or will the bike have to go for inspection again?

1. my motordiam tell me txf of ownership is never done on the spot. need two days. true anot?

>> if u ask motordiam to do the transfer usually it takes that at least 1 day to do it but if bike is no longer under installment u can proceed to LTA HQ to do the transfer on the spot w/ the buyer

2. also understand that need the road tax for the bike. means i have to unscrew the road tax and bring it to the office?

>>based on my experience 3mths back...the counter staff at LTA HQ dint ask me for my road tax disc

3. btw, transfer only can be done at sin ming LTA office rite? usu how long it takes eh? does it still open on saturday morning? if yes, avg waiting time is how long?

>>transfer can be done at other branches as well..but it wont be done immediately on the spot...only at the HQ at sin ming then can be immediate

operating hrs not too sure...pls check LTA website

avg waiting time depend on crowd level

i went there on a weekday afternoon and i was heading home within 15min

4. also for insurance, if im buying another from the same company while refunding the old one, is it true that i usu can get 100% refund of the unused portion of the old insurance which will be used to offset the cost of buying new one?

>>tink refund should be 80% of unused portion of the premium if u were to takeup another vehicle policy frm the same company within a certain time period...u need to check on the terms and condition found in the insurance cert documents...different company may have different practices

5. for motordiam (as is under HP), will they refuse to accept full upfront payment of the entire loan and then return u the logcard? also, wat are the documents to be returned? only logcard? or got others?

>>possible...i remember reading somewhere in this forum that pple who wanted to clear HP upfront was even asked to pay 'penalty' fee...

6. is there a vicom inspection certificate for the bike as it is more than 3 yrs old. understand that this is necessary during the bike transfer. will the motordiam have it? or will the bike have to go for inspection again?

>>dont need...as long as the vehicle got pass annual inspection can already...i wasnt asked for any inspection cert when i sold off my previous bike which is ard 3.5yrs old

like what bro aH_gUAn mentioned

most of the answers can be found on the website he posted

hi guys..

wats the step to c.o.i a bike ??

to COI

simply approach the relevant motordiam

since the logcard is kept by the motordiam

only they can do the ownership transfer etc for u

and although there's no law which sayz u must buy insurance through the motordiam..well..usually u will..

:cheeky:

in general...different motordiam different practices i guess

some bike shop wont allow transfer of ownership if bike is still under installment. only can add sub-rider; that is if the owner agrees to it.

rien d'autre que le max.

understand that some motordiam allow COI including ownership change provided u pay few months installment upfront and transfer fees and the motordiam's own agreement fees.

Hi guys, Lets say I owe the motordiam 1k plus and want to settle it and ask the bike shop to transfer it to the new owner. Question is, do I collect the agreed amount with the new owner or wait till transfer is done.

1) If I wait until transfer is done, the buyer may dua me and don't want to pay me

2) I collect the full amount, but seller is suspicious that the transfer is not done.

So what would be a good solution?

Another thing, assuming the buyer got the insurance and we have the go ahead to transfer bike to the new owner at the motordiam?

1) Can the owner ride off the bike? I will go cancel my insurance immediately.

What if the new owner has an accident (He bang other car), who is liable.

the good solution would be that u not let the shop do the transfer for u. since ur buyer have the insurance already, ask him to pay off your remaining loan at the bike shop to retrieve the log card and then go straight to LTA to do transfer. who pillon who to LTA is no issue cos both have valid insurance coverage. once there, do the transfer, once buyer gets new log card, pays off the rest of the $ to the seller, and seller says goodbye to the bike for the last time.

if buyer goes ahead and ride while the transfer is in progress, and meets with an accident, there is no legal issue as both have valid insurance. however, it becomes a bitter dispute case on who is liable to pay, whose insurance to claim from, and who shd pay for the repairs.

if u die die have to let the motordiam do your transfer, best option is to leave the bike at the motordiam. no ride = no chance of accident

can the NCB be transferred from 1 insurance company to another?

i have been riding for the past 6 months...no accidents whatsoever...

but the bike im going to buy may not use the same insurance company. does that mean i will not get to enjoy any NCB the next time i renew my insurance? meaning the insurance company views me as zero riding experience?

I heard that there are law firms that help people do mutual agreement

between buyers and sellers for COI. Is ther anyone who know of which

law firms that provide this service? And roughly how much would it cost?

Thank you in advance....

if you guys looking for a reloan for the next buyer, can pm me, i may be able to help you~

Hi bro how to get a 100% reloan? From bike shops? Need ya advice on tis thanks in advance bro :thumb:

first you need to earn above 2k payslip, second you need to make sure what you loan is according to the market value ie. a wave with a single digit number, you try loaning for 7k on a wave? impossible...If its a wave normal, you need to 2k loan i think it will be possible, something like this, cause they will assess your bike and your current pay and the the percentage of loan is calculated based on that.

Very informative thread.

Couple of questions here.

If selling bike to bike shop, do they pay you in cheque? Any worries about bounced cheques?

If selling bike to private buyer, ask for cash or cheque? Same issue with bounced cheques as above.

Anyone can advise?
