Here is my advise, most bandits in Singapore, only the GSF400P models, not the Bandit 1200 are mostly more then 10 years old. These are really reliable bikes, as said on forums in USA and the UK, and I can say this, unless the bike got into an accident, the front forks were rarely ever serviced/maintained.

I recommend you just go JB and give it a good fork overhaul and have peace of mind :thumb:

When I first bought my bandit, I realised the bike needed alot of work, but once done up, she will surely be a lovely bike to ride!

Cheers

P.S. Jamest, welcome to the "Banditos".

So it is consider not smooth?

i think its jus too soft. Can try change oil maybe put 50-100ml more on each side n see if its harder or not...if not might have to change the spring.

All these got to do with your spring and the weight of oil you are using.

Change the aftermarket springs and heavier oil.

Bikelab is recommended.

Higher cost, but job well done.

And never consider increasing the amount of oil in there.

on a hot day, if the fork cap flies on your face, you know why...

heavier oil...depends how bad are yar springs are...if they are really soft might not help. As mentioned by my "clone" here....there is a risk in adding more oil other than fork cap poping up other things might go wrong with more pressure by oil. But on my bandit last time i added 150ml more n it worked no cap poped worked as a despatch rider whole day n nite go food delivery n also went for a couple of trips on nsh n trunk roads. So yes there is a risk ...so the call is yars to a cheap solution. So if u wanna try changing oil n see if there is an improvement as mentioned by jkaiser, contact DatsunKing who is also one bandit riders here.

hey rajoana! LOL the trip was fun wasn't it? I'm thinking of going to find tasik cini next time. some old guy told me it was nice.

re forks: go test ride a few other stock bandits, see how their forks compare to yours. if you're satisfied with theirs, you probably just need to service yours, i.e. new oil, seals etc, and it should be fine.

if others' forks are too soft for you as well, then you might want to talk to specialists such as bikelab, race incorp, teck thye, etc.

Hi,

Want to do some work on my bandit, but is there a way to remove the fuel tank completely? Cause I am afraid of taking it completely off without all the fuel dripping out, how do you guys normally take it off? I think there are 2 fuel lines attached to it right?

Do I have to completely drain the fuel tank first?

Cheers

Hi,

Frm wat I know frm someone, can just plug out the fuel line bcos the fuel is sucked by vacuum to the engine. it will not drip petrol. Hope wat I say is true.

yup thts true.

1. Remove seat

2. Unscrew the 2 nuts u see at the edge of the tank (below seat)

3. Lift up the tank remove 2 cable which do not have this spring coiling ard it one is vacumn another one is pump.

4. remove the last rubber tube which has the "spring" spring coiling ard it thts the fuel line.

remember which cable where u took it out frm n put it back to the same place

To drain out fuel use a suction pump which u use to drain fish tank those type.

Hi Rajoana

How unlucky can you get? But well, ROC is a nice place except all I remember was the damm sunrise at 445am. Good experience though.

Well, no choice that you can not make it. I can't make it other than that date. Now biz at my company is slowing down, so I can sort of relax now. However not every weekend.

To daniel, u seem real interested in your bandit. Well, when do u wanna strip her down? WHat do u intend to do on her? I can show u how to dismantle some parts too. U wanna do it together? I got some stuff to do as well.

Well to all, is anyone interested in a road trip on the 20 to 24 Oct weekend? Raring for a ncie riding trip. Coast to coast....

Hi guys,

Want to ask bandit400p riders,is ur bike metal enclosure with engine burning hot afta 5 mins ride? When u touch ur water hose is it hot?

I change coolant to maxima, motul semi and oil filter, dun feel my bike rite bcos it so hot afta a while even off engine.

Rgds

Yes, the Bandit engine does get quite warm while riding, I am not sure if it is something wrong, but it seems fine to me. Think about car engines, they run real hot! And the hoses are meant to be hot as coolant is being pushed through the engine block so it means it is doing it's job.

How much you change your oil filter ah?

Cheers
