Im looking at the full system, end cans are a waste of time as Im after performance.

Getting caught once is enough, thats $800. 2nd time, the penalty is heavier.

What I meant when I say how many streets Trips are there in Spore, is after you get caught, ure not going to continue using the exhaust right? So either u will be hanging that piece of metal at home or selling it to another triple rider right? But the mkt is small so its hard to sell so mostly end up with the metal pipe and cant use or get $$$ back.

I wasnt making any gang references dude :giddy:

BTW, when I had the aprilia, 2 of the guys got caught with illegal pipes with info from the forum. the guys' mum got a shock when they were knocking on their doors and escorted him straight away to LTA. no warning letter nothing, guess didnt want him to change back to stock then go for inspection.

Wah ok ok you really take my post word for word. The notorious gang part is just a joke. Of course you didn't make any reference to gangs. I'm just using it as an analogy.

Arrow exhausts as wall decoration hehe. Well as I've said, be prepared for the consequences if you decide to take this path. The choice is yours (or rather mine).

The 2 guys must be dam "lucky" to have that happen to them. Anyway serve them right because I truly detest the sound 2-strokes make. I think they must have sounded even more irritating with after-market pipes. You will understand why I hate them so much if you live beside a busy road.

Escort to LTA is the normal procedure right? I don't think they will come all the way to the house just to give a warning letter. Since they have come all the way, might as well escort you back haha.

I don't know but I thought you need to be caught riding with the pipes? Is it illegal to have the pipes on your bike, even though the bike is parked stationery with no fuel and deflated tyres? I mean some pple collect exotic bikes with after-market pipes. They don't ride them. Does that count as an offence? Need someone who is more familiar with traffic rules to calrify this. Maybe the Aprilia guys were caught on camera or something.

Ok anyway I'm not here to debate about the advantages of having an illegal pipe or encourage anyone to break the law hehe. Just a casual discussion. I think it is best that you keep your stock exhaust for now since you have so many concerns. Important thing is be comfortable and enjoy your ride. This topic can go on and on. Let's focus more on Triumph-related (road-legal) issues. It seems like we are the only pple talking here ..

Chill ... :)

its to be taken for word for word, so u know im taking u seriously

anyway i found out how to get the exhaust legal already :bounce:

yes 2 strokes out loud and also very smokeyyyyyyyy

those ppl with exotic bikes and more exotic pipes dont ride them prob dont have them rd registered also so its ok. ppl with exotic bikes usually have exotic wallets to support eXotic fines and multiple court appearances :giddy:

i have an exotic fren with a family who owns a law firm, somehow, managed to sneak off doing 180 on bukitimah road..........wowowowow.......

Hehe then I better be very careful with my words

You mean how to get our own imported exhausts approved by LTA? I think there is a thread somewhere that provides the procedures. I'm going to do that when I have the time. Actually my Arrows are road-legal in Europe. It even comes with a certificate but I'll have to submit some documents to LTA and do an inspection at Vicom to get it approved locally.

http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/5885/dsc00409vd3.jpg

Those exotic bikes not necessary are un-registered because if I do own one, I would want to ride it occasionally :) And it doesn't mean you need to be rich to own exotic bikes mah and also not all exotic bikes are expensive if you have the luck and connections :) Ok lah anyway it would be interesting to know whether even installing the pipes on a stationery bike is illegal.

Hehe 180km/h on Bukit Timah Road (which stretch?) No big deal mah if there isn't any speed cameras. Was he getting away from the cops? But he is not cheating the authorities, he is cheating death. Try just doing 130km/h that on PIE near to BKE where the speed camera is. Hehehe.

Yes, its possible to get yr pipes approved by LTA. But to go thru that process that involves someone else handling and revving your bike for durations I am not comfortable with. So I need a leader! :p

the dude who did 180 was driving not riding.

And he kenna from mobile speed camera not fixed.

So better play safe from now, go above 180km/h where their cameras cannot register :D

Haha even if the Vicom guys don't rev your bike, you will also rev it yourself (maybe even harder and longer than him) later on hehehe. No need to rev it for a long time also lah, they just need to get the sound and emission readings. Just like doing a normal inspection. BTW you can handle the bike yourself. I think they prefer that also because they do not need to break any sweat. I always handle my own bike when I go for inspection :)

So the camera got him but he wasn't charged? How did he know he was captured? Really very lucky.

yes, i will rev the bike on the move, theirs is stationary.alot of the times, the bike is revved at various benchmark rpms and held for awhile. of course they dont warm up your bike before doing that. do u think they care? if there is any minor damages, what can u do?

it takes a whole day or 2, it depends on them.

inspection and exhaust approval is diff. inspection everyone sits on their own bike and diy.

even after readings are taken, approval of the exhaust is not instant. a big bike shop told me that even after 6 mths, they are still waiting approval for their customers exhaust. a batch of about 9 ppl, all paid up for and still waiting..........

wont u rather do away with the hassle, go to a shop and slap on a street legal exhaust and ride away?

You mean you need to leave your bike there for 1-2 days for the inspection?? Sounds really silly. I don't think that will happen. BTW when you ride there, your bike is warm enough. And I am quite certain that it's a "DIY", just like what you do for your normal bike inspection. Nothing special, nothing extra.

How long it takes for approval might depend on how many pple went at the same time. In the case of the big bike shop, they might have to wait longer due to the large number of pple?

Of course I would rather get street-legal exhausts! But there isn't (at least for my bike)! I'm not asking pple to go get non-approved exhaust and go for inspection. I'm talking about how to get a non-road legal exhaust approved.

Anyway I won't know until I've tried. I rather do the actual process myself than listen from hear-say. People can say anything, it's up to you to believe how true their stories are. I think it's better to refer to this thread for more accurate information: http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171698&highlight=approve+exhaust :)

Alot of things in life sound silly but it is a fact and actually happens.

Warm enough?

You think youre riding into Maccas and expect people to serve you right away when you are at the counter?

The thread is just one guy's personal experience. Isnt this hearsay?

Go & speak to people who have been selling exhaust for a huge range of bikes for many years and are actually the ones taking the bike to get the approval done.

Approval is not dependent on numbers. Where did you get this idea from?

I just double checked with LTA and Remus, Arrow, Scorpion and Lazer exhaust dealers and they all say the same thing. It can be one exhaust or 1 dozen, at the end of the day, it is up to LTA. The 9 guys that ordered and paid up at M-Technik waited 6mths since their papers were submitted and still no approval from LTA. If not approved, then its $$$ down the drain and time wasted.

Erm, if you really read my post WORD for WORD, you should have noticed that I say "when I have the time". And I have to admit, I am very lazy. And as I've said, I ride as per normal, I don't feel paranoid, so I don't really care for now. And I didn't say it is easy, I'm saying it is not as complicated and silly as what you heard from others. Erm, anyway I don't wish to debate on this anymore. What's the point. This is becoming more like an exhaust thread. I'll be more than willing to share my experience with you guys when I go though the inspection :goodluck: to me!

Yohji yohji, why do u sound so frustrated??:giddy:

The exhaust is a highlight of the S.triple.

Much like the Termis is to the Dukes.

If you can get it approved and not Mah then it will be excellant news.

This might encourage more sales and you will have more kahkis!

More the merrier right?:thumb:

Duh, do I sound frustrated? Sorry if I do. To be frank, I do not really want more khakis riding the Street Triple. The less the merrier hehe. You know what I mean? :p  :) :D :thumb: :o :slurp: :p ;) :shades:

Actually I meant STREET TRIPLES. Oh nevermind .. it's just me. Don't bother about what I've said. Cos I'm pretty tired of explaning my every single posting. Maybe I'm getting old ...

So are you keeping your Tiger after all? Or getting the Concourse? Or relocating?

c14 gtr is 2 mths wait. 696 is also 2 mths wait also. tiger will keep for touring.

Simple reason, the less on the road, the more exquisite. So means you are keeping the Tiger for touring and maybe getting the 696 for play? So lucky .. wish I could do that.

I just hope it's worth the wait. So Yohji, how's the bike so far? I'm also wondering how's the agent service? Is there anywhere else that we can send our Triumph for servicing other than the agent? Any good mechanic to refer to?
