No not local ..

But I still think it's nice! :D Green with black = nice (at least to me).

the green on the speed reminds me of the ford V8 utes.

Had an issue with my Greenie a few days back. Sometimes the LCD display and headlights flicker like mad (as though I am flashing my headlights). The engine RPM dropped while riding. The bike rebooted itself at a traffic stop (clutch-in, 1st gear). But the bike starts up like a charm everytime. Suspect battery or some electrical issue ....

Brought it to the agent today and discovered that those are caused by loose contacts at the battery (under the seat). They cleaned up the contacts and tightened the wires for me. Voila! Greenie is well again! Good job! Phew!

Just wanna share my experience with you guys, incase anyone encounter the same symptoms.

Ride safe (and hard)!

Didn't the '08 models come with auto flashing headlights to warn the vehicles ahead to move out of the way?:angel:

No it didn't. But it's a good idea! Auto-flash will turn on when it senses a slow moving object (

I've been riding Greenie a lot man! I've neglected the Iron! The triple is sooooo addictive. It makes cars look like tortises. I wonder how I managed to ride it gently a year ago. That was before bringing it to NSHW :D

10,000km is way too early for a regular EFI street bike to be doing valve clearance so dats y u didnt feel the difference.

Actually Yaaa, unlike Jap Bikes, i can say we too can get valve clearance on the 100000km,just that how well we take care of our bike,i just got a reply from the email down at Triumph hinckley. They state that unless we are a great Carmichael's fan(Link below) in doing stunts ,then we must opt for valve clearance at least 30,000km.so far unlike in singapore i think we dun need that at the moment unless you are really a throttle master.hehe:angel:Cheers Triumphrat Brothers....

Unless the gaps were way too small you wouldn't notice any difference. If you leave it too long or don't change the oil & filter regularly then the first you will notice is a reluctance to start and idle smoothly from cold, although might not be so pronounced with local temps.

Usually the triple doesn't need much adjustment below 45,000 kms but checking every 15,000 kms means you might catch something going wrong before it does.

Hi guys, been reading up this thread with great interest.

gotta few qns tho.. read that maintenance wise is about the same as jap bikes except for the parts. how expensive are these parts compared to the japs'? how expensive is the maintenance labour at the official distributor? are there any other workshops that able to service the street triple if it breaks down? what about the capability of touring? any ideas on insurance for 27 ol.

the more i read up about street 3ple, the more intrigued i get. just wanna analyse the pro and cons on having such a unique make. unless im a rich ass *******. hahaha

cheers guys and happy chinese new year.

Hey bro happy chinese new year,

im your age as well with 4 years riding under my belt

tat said my insurance under Ntuc was bout $800 with 2 year NCD for my Street Triple R

which i feel is damn affordable cause my friends DRZ-sm 2nd party was 600+

that and the regular maintenance and minor electric problems( should they occur in the 1st place) are as cheap as any class 2 japense bike

which probably explains y ive seen 3 street triples on the road already in 1 week!!!! the streets are being taken over by the street!

i know of one other shop besides the distrobutor/agent where u can do regular service on triumph bikes.. crazy shop does harleys too +_+

but they get a whole lot of traffic so i'll check with the chief mech if hes ok with me telling others thier shop does triumph bikes

all that said u can own a cbr1000rr for the price of a street triple r + (1-2k)

and the cbr has bout 60 + more hp +_+ so if yur getting a continental naked roadster, it isnt bout out right horsepower its bout sex appeal ^_^

talkin bout power , i was riding my friends super 4 on PIE last friday ard 6+ pm but i cudnt do anything to safetly catch up with that Green street triple with Zard cans .. n he wasnt even trying didnt hear the bike howl even for a sec. +_+

nice feedback shin.. that helps alot. e sex appeal is e reason why Im looking at the striple. haha those bug eye headlight and humongous exhausts to boot. is the zard legal and pricey?

saw a remus exhaust in youtube and it sounds orgasmic as well.

cheers

+1 engine and Triumph specific parts are no more expensive, and often less, than similar Jap bikes if you get them yourself from UK, not difficult, plenty of suppliers are happy to send here and normally doesn't take longer than a week, I've waited up to 3 months to get standard Honda parts here through distributors :faint:

Suspension and brake parts are Showa & Nissin, so no problem getting parts and cost for those locally. Huge range of aftermarket stuff available if you are willing to bring in yourself.

Reliability is good with very few "common" issues, the engine has been around since the early 90's and is well sorted now, follow a few regular checks and you are unlikely to have a bad experience. I pays to use a workshop that has experience and passion for the bike, then you'll be confident. I can tell you who I trust and I can tell you one that I definately wouldn't but not here.

Riding a triple is a unique experience, in a good way, it will always leave you with a smile on your face, makes me want to wear an open face helmet. :thumb:
