hi all triple R owners!

have a couple of qns regarding street triple R. i've decided to get either fz1n or street triple R in a few months time but cant decide between the 2.

how's the maintenance of this bike? like the availability and cost of the parts? are they more expensive compared to Japanese bikes?

any inputs will be very appreciated :)

For maintenance, i think its all generally the same. For accessories, most shop doesn't have stock for Triumph. So most of the time you gotta wait a few weeks. Get the Triumph. Go for something different! We have enough Jap bikes on the road... (No offence) :thumb:

Got a qns. For those who fitted Zard on their bike, do you guys remove the baffles or do you keep them on?

I have the Carbon Covered Zard cans fitted ( with an approval letter from the LTA ).

The cans make a great sound with the baffles in.

If you want to really upset your neighbours. Take them out, give it a load of revs in nuetral and your ears could start bleeding.

i removed mine and it sound awesome.. i love it.. esp when u decelerate and the popping sound goes on forever..

absolutely addictive!!!

Are you fed up with them or just fancy a change?

What are the alternatives?

I would just be asking for trouble taking the baffles out, mainly from the folks that live within 6 metres from where I park the bike and start it up at 5.50 every morning.

Sure they hate me as it is, wouldn't surprise me to fine some big scratches across the tank one morning.

A guy who parked a Z1000 with an Akroprovic can, next to mine, received this treatment. Not to know if the exhaust was to blame though.

I tried riding for a day each with and without the baffles. Beside the great sound from riding without the baffles, I think the greatest difference is the power I get. With the baffles on, the power is disappointing. I thought it was worse than the stock pipes. But once the baffles are out, I am left grinning all the way.

Now really contemplating whether I wanna make a legal pipe illegal by removing the baffles. Alternative is to chop off half the baffles such that it looks like its still there from the outside, but there's actually nothing inside.... heheheh...

Fed up? No way... they are just great..

I was just thinking of trying out the Arka... which i think will be very similar in terms of power and sound..

Confused.... sigh...

Not sure if its even worth while to do a chop.. i think it will affect the resell value greatly in future...

Since i dont ride my bike everyday, so this is not a issue with me.

So i take it you have bought the zard?

Great mate. I just love the sound, its really addictive. So much so that I have become a two wheel hooligan :thumb:

Not had the baffles out since I bought the bike ,it had the Zards on already.....bike was second hand. It didn't have any baffles in initially, by god was it loud.

If you do a cat removal, i think it will be even louder.. i am toying with that idea.. hehehehe

Wow... remove the cat and its going to be crazily loud! Bad for the year for long distance riding.... My ear is already ringing after the ride when I ride from west side to east side.... But i am loving it! :thumb:

Hi guys, do you notice any leaks coming from your bike? After parking for a day i noticed some liquid on the ground just below the belly pan. There are 2 patches, one seems like engine oil and the other seems like coolant. Not huge amount but enough to get my attention. Is it normal or is something broken?

Posted

it is normal.

every brand new bike in the range after 8wks onwards, fr the RIII to the Sprint, Tiger1050, bonnies, daytonas, leak, either from the engine gaskets above the belly pan and oil filler cap, coolant from the radiator hose & cap, fork oil seal, etc.

Please dont be surprised if it still leaks after round 1 of gasket replacements.

My bike had to have a coolant hose replaced at 5000km. The small one next to the oil filter failed. No leaks now though approaching 16000km. Big service coming up soon.

I leak more than the bike.

Thanx guys for the info. I am quite paranoid about all these leaks and it worries me whenever I see things leaking from any parts of the engine. Guess I gotta get used to it :)
