haha.. paint such design? u talking about the design or the paint? hahaha..

if u talking about the strip of diamond plates then its nothing to be proud about.. i've seen it done to some bikes... but not on a phantom la.. if u talking about the paint.. its nothing to be proud about cos its jus undercoat paint.. wat i've always been using... if its the seat... also nothign to be proud about...i jus trimmed abit here and there.. eugene did the marvellous job of wrapping it to my specs.. hahaha.. if its the bars.. also nothing to be proud about.. i put it together with some scraps from my previous projects....

so in a sense.. its abike that has nothing to be proud about.. jus a normal riot bike.. lol

but wat i am proud about.. is that my lady likes it. hahahahha

well... ofcuz if u take everything apart, it might be nothing to talk about..

but good idea to assemble together in one piece.

and dont left out ur wide handle bar and stretch tank.

Photo ready yet bro? .......waiting :)

All cannot wait, go down and see for yourself la. Don't lazy la. heeee.

Good job X-iled. Is the tank that big or just a cover? Imagine pump full tank if it's really that big. Whooo!!!

its a modified daystar tank. so it will hold whatever amount a daystar tank holds.. which i believe is a few litres more than the stock phantom tank?

ahhhhhh yessssss......

finally some proof to show that i hadnt been lying about building a phantom... empty promises of pictures must have put off quite a few of the thread readers.. hahahha.. well here is it.. the phantom that went through a bit of RIOTing...

like i have emphasized.. i only did the tank, handlebar, taillights and seat. the fenders u can get fromm the ever famous MADMAN. hahah. i know the looks remind so much of the past builds that i have laid my hands on.. the hotrod dragstar, El toro's bar... u get what i mean.. thats why i said it was nothing big about this project... jus very very normal RIOT styling.

This bike was actually my girl's bike. and i wanna apologise to her for taking so damn bloody long to complete the mods.. hahaha... she is a tall chick... so she has absolutely no problems reaching the bars and handling the bike.. and did i mention she look so damn bloody HAWT on the bike? hahaha.. no pics for this.. u guys go spot her on the roads yourself.

ok enough of the yakking... time for the meat.....

LET THE RIOT BEGIN!!

i aint a very good camera man... so bear with me... hahah.. these were taken with flash.. so i;m putting them on for the clarity of the lines and shape of the bike.. the colour is slightly off due to some scientific reason which i have no idea about...

the gloss black strip u see running along the tank and the fender is actually a strip of Diamond plate which i sprayed black. These pics also show u the seat which is a 2 piece, pillion pad removable unit. ITs a phantom seat jus with some minor mods and reshaping. Eugene from Eugene's Saddlery wrapped the seat accprding to my specs and i didnt even need to check on his work.. i knew he would deliver. i merely told him how i wanted.. drew some guiding lines and viola! Hes the man. Eugene if u are reading this and there happens to be a spike in phantom customers.. u'll know who to give credit ah.. wahhahahahhaa

Sorry mate. I think it looks weird. The tank and seat flows very nicely, but the bike looks out of proportion. The large tank made the wheels looked skinny and small. Colour wise it's neither here nor there. A little bit of chrome here,a little bit of blacked out parts there and top w raw aluminium here and there. When I heard u saying that u chromed the bars and it's gonna be very diff from yat u normally do,I tot it's gonna be a glan looking boulevard style bike. It's a pity too dat u didn't tuck the wires from the control inside those pretty bars, cos it kinda messed up the clean looking bends. Sorry for so much criticism! It's not that I can create something nicer or half as good, but I'm not gonna say it's nice when I feel it' not quite there. Just sharing my point of view as another bike lover, hope nobody gets offended. This is not gonna be ur last build,I'm sure there are better things to come. 'Riot be the rhyme of the unheard...'

Its fine that you find it wierd . theres bound to be ppl who wont like what i do. so if you dont like it, i'm ok with it!. no offence taken at all on that part. a phantom has its limitations. size being the biggest disadvantage. i'm not small sized.. and my bike builds tend to be skewed towards the bigger side of things. so probably thats why i'm unconsciously trying to make it bigger.

However, its your descriptions about the build that has got me stirred. To me it felt like your criticisms were not that thoroughly thought out and u jus shot it out the way u felt like. If u had meant what u said.. then u hadnt been observant.. if u didnt mean what u said.. then you need think about the way you are presenting your arguements.

my colour combi is dull. yes. black is dull. but i didnt jus "black out bits here and there" the entire engine was blacked out. the black tank was part of the design and the gloss black strip was added as a form of contrast.

AND...

there wasnt jus "ABIT of chrome here and there" . handlebars, certain engine covers, tank dash cover, speedos , headlight were all deliberately left as chrome to again add contrast. if thats "abit here and there".. then where are the proper parts to chrome?

may i ask also.. other than the wheels that i have left aluminum colour cos i didnt wanna blow my pocket chroming it... where else was the " here and there" parts u mentioned? other than the carbs.. i dun remember anything else thats raw aluminum colour... dun tell me that i should spray my carbs black.. that would be a very dumb thing to do.

when i said its gonna be different from the rest of my builds.. i meant the use of chrome... i usually emphasized that i dun really manipulate chrome in my builds cos i kinda dislike the idea of polishing ... i like things raw. i nv once mentioned or hinted it would be a glam looking or classic looking bike.. in fact i even reiterated that it would be very normal looking and dun get your hopes high.. haha.. why wasnt that comment registered in your case?

hiding cables are definately cool. no doubts about that... i didnt do it simply bcos.. it exceeded my budget. and on a side note.. do u think newbies will apprecieate handlebar with hidden wires? when u reach the stage of apprecieating hidden wires.. will you buy a phantom with hidden wires for a price way way above market vlaue?

lastly bro.. seriously ask yourself this qn.... would you really go ALL OUT,... to mod a phantom?? would you really do that if ALL OUT modding your steed comes up to about the same price as a ALL OUT modified phantom? i think you know the answer and i think you know why i felt your critisms were not well thought out.

I'm not against phantom riders and i apologise if i sound like ihad been squashing phantoms down with my examples. but i've jus putting a very frank and honest view. ppl upgrade their bikes thats a fact.. nobody who really itches to mod stays with one bike for long. sooner or later.. the craving for power will also manifest when u start thinknig of moving as good as you look. its all about adequecy... for me.. the power not adequate enough for the looks i can bring to it.

my comment of ur ah gurl phantom:

lets assume this is a big-bore single cylinder bike hor --> well it sure look like one siah (from far only) he he

ok here goes:

1. front fender - shorten it

2. rear fender- shorten it

3. ekzos - change to the newer phantom model ekzos - looks more traditional chopper.

4. get rid of those side chromes. i mean the one in front near to the handle bars on the right n left. or at least black it out

anyway comments r juz comments. beauty is in the eye of the beholder hor

Great job x-iled.

I think for the limitations imposed by the bike being a phantom and budget, its a great job. You seem to be going for the classic relaxed cruiser look and you definitely hit it head on. I love the tail lights, seat and diamond plate!

Maybe you guys are expecting too much? Think of this project as a riot bike for beginners, changing the exhaust, internally-wired handlebars, modifying madman's fenders might be too much and too illegal (exhaust).

haha bro... u describing a bobber rite......... subconsciously we get affected by it. no matter how "rugged" it looks... we still think flare fenders look too tame..... aha!

nah.. its good that you guys expect more... i could have made it into a cafe racer... hahaha.. but then again like i said.. this was made with a "daily rider" tag in mind... the fender came with the bike and i jus joined it up with a bigger looking tank and streamlined the seat.

comments are always welcomed in my thread. be it good or bad like i have stated before.

and for bro terribleone.. i do apprecieate him having the balls to speak his mind. . but do come at me with proper well though out arguements and constructive feedback .. ahhh... I too have to defend the honour of the bike if i feel it has been critisized inadequeately...

Bro Terribleone is a hands on person as well hahah and is doing some good job stiring up steed members for mods.. so i'd also expect alot more from his critisisms when it comes to commenting about a bike build.

There are reasons why i chose to make the bike like it is now.. hahaha.. if u can catch me along that line you will see that huge deciding factors lie in legality issues and budget issues.

so once again. feel free to comment!!! good or bad!!! hahaha

Haha, I know you wouldn't care what other ppl think, you got plenty of fans here so I tot they might get offended. I didn't shoot anyhow, I stared at the pics like everyone else. Here's what I meant about the proportion of the bike.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2643/3728977115_e4b2a9a70e.jpg?v=0

It looked very "top heavy" to me.. the skinny fork could use some fork covers to make them look fatter, not hard to make using tubes and foam to hold them in place if u got the time..

As for the hidden wires, it's not that hard bro.. Since you've already custom ur own bars, not hard to drill 4 more holes right? Den it's just cutting the wires, extending them, soldering and cover with heat shrink.. It'll cost next to nothing and will defiantly bring out those bars.. I'll take some pic of mine and show you, maybe u can try it next time..

Colour wise what I meant was that there's a pretty uneven mix of black and chrome. Take for example the turn signals, front chrome and rear black. And the rear fender bracket blacked and chainguard chrome. I mean there's no fix rule of where to colour, it just doesn't looked "flowing" like your other builds.. Not a real problem,I'm comparing with ur other builds.. it'll be unfair to compare with other ppl's bike, but for me to compare it with ur old bike I feel it's pretty understandable..

Yeah I remember you telling us not to expect much, I seriously tot you were just being humble.. I forgot you got something more important to do right now.. Haha.. I understand that this is a daily commuter bike, that's why I never mentioned about the IU and loud horn..

As for spending, I really dunno how much I'll be willing to spend if I were to commit to mod my Steed. Cos I really got no money now, I can answer if i got more to spare.. Haha.. But how much to spend on mods is very personal, some ppl change bike every year,Madman can ride till COE finish! There's a Lau-K near my house that's very nicely modded,I think he might have spent a few grand on it. He likes it and it turn heads.. I think it's money well spent even tho I wouldn't personally do it.. I'm doing very budget stuff now.. Actually I dunno what I'm doing with my steed now,got a VSE solid wheel and it screwed up the look I wanted..

My comments are defiantly meant to be constructive.. I do admire some of your work.. Your exhaust header for the Max is amazing.. The spinger fork for El Toro is cool, just that it had too much offset.. But it's ok,it's not meant to go round PG.. K-aos is wicked.. And ur tank work is awesome.. Would love to do a lot of those too,but for now family come first for me.. For the rest of you, keep modd'n!!

now you are talking more like a bike builder! lol. and thats what i meant when u come at me with proper observations and i will gladly admit any flaws on my part. Its great that u pointed out all these nitty gritty details cos YES... they are the areas which i chose to disregard on this build.

me and my gf had planned to mod this bike so we can sell it off. wanna get her class 2 bike with the sales amount. and thats why i didnt really put too much effort into the details.... i cant sell off the bike at too high a price if u know what i mean.. all the time taken to address the issues u brought up would eventually find thier way into the final pricing of the bike... It is but still a FV plate phantom... hahahha.. i could make fat tire swingarms and do frame mods to lengthen the whole wheelbase.. but... hahahha how the hell will i be able to sell it off??? newbies cant afford.. old timers wont want the lesser power... both classes want rideable, legal looking bikes...so yeah... that how the bike ended looking like so.

as for the colour combi wise .. signals yes. lol.. i left the original signals infront.. thinking i will "change it in time" hahahha even my gf is making noise on that. good that u brought it to the attention of everyone else.. now my gf will have more bullets to gun me on that... lol.....the chrome is jus there to "highlight" certain areas..i know it would have looked better if i had chromed out the wheels.. but then agian.. cost versus selling price made me think twice..

u keep modding as well..keep me updated on your progress. As for me.. i'll be off to do u know wat... hahaha... this thread is gonna get really cold and quiet.. (hint hint)
