Hi Rev running in is all fine and dandy for your pistons and rings seating perhaps.

But what will it do for your gearbox, crankshaft pins, and other moving bits... especially in the long run?

Can it be a case of Power!! now, but die prematurely 2 years down the road?

I didn't do it on dyno or track.

Better check with Ken or Looi's about dyno run price. Mine was never dyno-ed.

I'm touching 11000 km soon. This is in a little over 4 months. So far it's running pretty smooth. Tell you in 1.6 yrs time.

it is high rev, but, u might wanna tell meng tong how u wanna run it in.

be more specific with ur own desired run in method, if not he will ''run in'' his own way.

oic. ken, how do u break in ur engine then?

i dun dare to do it on public road especially in singapore.

if i wanted to do it in malaysia, i think by the time i reach there, my mileage reached 32km liao... then after that will defeat the purpose in breaking in my engine for the 1st 20 miles (32km)....

I just got an SMS over the weekend from Boon Siew. Those who got BS bike, and have not gotten the warranty card can drop by at the shop at Bukit Timah and get one.

It's 1 year unlimited mileage.

Dunno if you guys felt this.

The handle bars have a stronger vibration when using V-Power. On Esso F1, it's smoother.

• Honda CBR1000RR - Replacing the RC57

Meet the machine that's going to take Honda's Superbike championship legacy to the next dimension: the all-new CBR1000RR. Inspired by our World Champion RC211V MotoGP bike, with revolutionary Unit-Pro Link suspension and HESD, new-tech Honda Electronic Steering Damper, it's ready to race—and ready to win.

Current Honda Factory Super Bike the RC 51

Honda is extremely confident in their new CBR1000RR super sport bike, so condident that we were told it could replace the current RC51 on the race track!

UPDATE: Just in, expect changes to the CBR1000R in 2005. The 2005 Honda CBR1000R will be named the "A" model. Sorry, no further details.

We will know for sure if there will be an A model. Munich motorshow is around the corner. Expect 2005 CBR600RR, 2005 GSXR1000 ...

Can someone settle the debate over the "normal" run-in versus the "mototune" run-in methods? I have trawled the net, but the responses are split right down the middle. Some examples below;

1) This is a Ducati link, but it refers to the so-called "mototune" method, or race techniques for running in an engine.

http://www.ducatimonster.org/faq/faq_break-in.html

2) On this forum, the same debate goes on, with references to a variety of literbikes, including the RR4. Generally here one camp is insisting it works, another says its unecessary.

http://www.sportbikez.net/phorum/read.php?f=13&i=507&t=275

3) And here, specifically refers to Yamaha YFZ450, and an anecdotal description of the writer's findings and observations of testing and running-in methods at a factory plant.

http://www.eskimo.com/~daddog/breakin/

4) Lastly, some conflicting advice on running-in for a GSX600.

http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread/t-41943.html

WHICH is the more logically correct (if possible) and appropriate method? Appreciate if more light can be shed on this matter.

Sorry if :offtopic: but I'm sure all new RR4 owners would be interested in knowing the alternatives better

Thanks for sharing the links. I think this issue would bug any bike owners.

B4 I got my RR4, I was googling for a lot of these break in articles.

I've also come across the Ducati method which contradicts Mototune's. Well, I'm not riding a Duck, so I thought, what the heck.

I also came across a separate article that supplemented Mototune's method. It had diagrams and was showing the peaks and rings and all and came with a good explanation. It just made a lot of sense.

I'm no engine expert, but I'm more inclined to agree, if there're any problems, probably the bike won't go 1 mile.

If Afdah did an easy break in and then dyno his bike @ Looi's, maybe he can shed some light on the HP issue.

Any RR4 owners here did an easy break in?

Great, finally!

Since Ken was on fully syn when he did a dyno, probably will wait for you to change to fully syn and dyno.

Keep us posted. I suggest you dyno @ Looi's, since Ken also dynoed there. That will be a better comparison.

hi, how much does a dyno run costs at loois?

i intend to have my RR4 dynoed after i changed to a full synthetic oil.

then we can compare the results of between n easy break in RR4 and a hard break in RR4.

any more suggestions to make the results a fairer one?

normally, is $70.

treat meng tong a tiger beer n i was charged $60. ( worth it, hahaha )

so far, all those whom i tok to which had been in the bike market with fairly amount of knowledge, although each have some different ways of doing it, but all use high rev run in.

but, dun care too much about the hp thingy.

when i decided on the high rev run in method, hp isn't my main criteria, it is the longer life span that is claimed, will be granted to the new bike which triggers me to give it a try.

there's been toks about high rev or low rev run in, but no one noes for sure, until u try it.

guess it takes 2 years for us to determine it ourselves.

pay more attention to ur engine sound though.

Enjoy ur bike is the main way of rewarding urself for the money spent on the bike.

Stop all the worryings and go out ride now!~

Saw a small group with maybe a couple of RR4 riders at GP Esso coming back into SG last nite at ard 1am+ or so last nite. Got blue one, red one, and didn't see clearly other colors. Also had a Ducati with them.

I was with a silver CBR600F4 and a CB400. Anyone of you there?
