I got a 1kg of live king prawns, they're all very big. Only $22. Thanks to Jie Liang, aka Sam, a young aspiring cook.

When I got home, 2 were alive, I've put them in a tank with tap water. They seem lifeless until I poured some salt in the water. They started twitching and jumped back to life. 1 passed away however.

Maybe the water/salt ratio not right. Anyone knows how to rear prawns?

You guys are invited to my place on CNY eve 9pm. SMS or call me if coming.

i think u can try setting up a sea water based aquarium to rear them ? since prawns r saltwater based .

I got some friends who always tell me about a RR4 repsol at their camp which got special parking lot and can park at special places. They are so envious.

Get well soon. Its new year with lotsa food.

Hmmmm............ didn't notice you were watching my every move.

So when and where did I demonstrate that I was a 'gentleman'??

When I did not wring her neck when she told me at the JB customs that she did not know she had to fill up an immigration card?? :faint:

And I had to park the bike on the side and go around asking for a card and a pen... and getting my ass chewed for nothing by a (PMS) Perpetual Menstruation Syndrome Malay lady immigration officer who felt that lending her pen to me was like giving her life to me??? If I was alone... I would have started a war with her and dragged the whole department in but did not (which was totally against my own personal principles) and swallowed my anger because I had an innocent sweet young thang with me. And all because I felt it was my responsibility to ensure that it was suppose to be a pleasant maiden trip on a one litre bike into Malaysia since her last ride was on a P-plate ridden Aprilla 125.

Or when she decided to step off the bike at the petrol station on the way back, when I was about to refuel the bike? Nearly toppled the bike over as I was not expecting that and I had to let go the refuelling nozzle and it took what strength I had left to pull the bike up when it was leaned over at about 45 degrees?? Talk about an adrenalin rush!! And I actually told not to do that again without telling me first with a smile on my face!!!!!

Yes Tashi...for a hardcore bike lover (all else deserves only seconds) I am also amazed and even impressed myself at the patience and the quatlities a gentleman that I displayed that night!!

She can ride pillion with me again if she wants to the next time coz I know she will not make the same mistakes again. After all, I believe... the first one is free... the next one...........................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :nono:

Am I not truly a gentleman?? :thumb:

notice ur HID is secured on the right middle cowl. wun it over heat when ur fan is ON?

nah, it won't overheat. its actually mounted on the right side of the radiator where the right middle cowl hole is. the hid thingie is supposed to be heat resistant. with the max coolant temp i hit around 110 during the JB jams, the hid is working fine for more than 2 months already. :-)

just need something to cover the right middle cowl hole, a wire mesh or something. maybe if i too lazy, just pain the hid thingie black. it looks ugly from far... hehehe

by the way the hid thingie we are talking about is called a ballast with the ignitor buuilt in made by hella.

Afdah, u had the HID on?

Guys, those who saw mine and Afdah light, how much brighter is the HID?

henry saw my light, maybe he can give comments. not sure about eddy though.

a 35watt hid can produce up to 3x more light compared to a 55watt halogen. as the hid is 35watt only, it draws less electrical power from our bike electrical system. the hid also last 3-5 times longer over halogen.

by the way, the hid light system does not work with just the hid bulb itself. unlike halogen, the hid requires a ballast to step up our 12V bike electrical supply to over 20,000V and requires an ignitor to ignite the bulb. once the bulb is ignited, it will require 12V only to power up the bulb. All this happens within milliseconds.

some disadvantage of hid over halogen other than the price which is xxxpensive, u need to locate some space to mount the ballast and ignitor. with the 1000rr so compact, good luck in finding space to mount ur ballast and ignitor... hehehe

A dinner of steak, chicken or fish under a starry night sky, next to your own parked bike sounds pretty right. This is a clean place to dine and chat.. perfect ambience.

Will check it out and get back to you.

Should be halal though coz that cafe seem to be patronised by the locals of that area only. One of the waitress is a local malay ger.

Seems like we are the first outsiders to invade their quiet neighbourhood cafe.

Ha!! Must be the fault of you guys. I have just changed my engine oil and oil filter at my friend's house and I put in for the first time in the years of owning bikes......fully synthetic engine oil!!!!

Anyway I got a 20% discount for it so it was worth buying. Someone did not want the coupon so the lady at the Caltex station asked me to use it.

The other day I was Motoworld and I watched the mechanic simultaneously remove the LH and RH lower half fairings as a complete assembly of a CBR1000RR to install the protective wire mesh for the radiator and I thought that was a very neat way of doing it although it is not mentioned in the fairing removal procedures of the manual.

To replace the oil filter...according to the Owners Manual, the lower right hand side fairing would have to be removed for access. Removing the bottom pan screws to separate the lower half fairing is difficult due to poor access and poor visibility, got to bend down like hell. Worst still they are size one Phillips head plastic screws which can be easily rounded off. :faint:

I was going to change the oil and oil filter only.. but I removed the lower LH and RH fairing as one complete piece. Did it in less than 5 minutes singlehandedly.

Dropped it from the bike and slipped it out sideways from below the bike.

My friend then did some measurements on my radiator... transferred the dimensions onto a piece of cardboard as a template. Took the cardboard template and tried it out on the radiator and found that we could install the wiremesh without using any wires to hold it in place. He cut the template in such a way...it was possible to squeeze the template under the edge lip of the radiator itself and therefore hold it in position.

Superimposed the template onto the wiremesh material and traced out the shape, cut the material and install. Time taken was less than 30 minutes and it cost me about $3.30.

Now my radiator has a protective wiremesh over it, so does the intake of my airbox.

It is the first day of Chinese New Year of the Rooster and I have not visited any of my crony relatives but did so much maintenance on my bike, time well spent indeed!!! Wahhahahahahah!!!! :thumb:

Raptor, there are lots of nice roadside stalls, one of them serves the best satay.

What engine oil are you using? Castrol R4 is good for 3000km only, after that it feels like water. Have you gotten the service manual already?

Ken, the additive Edward gave me seems good for 1000km only. When it was added, engine feels really smooth, gear shift also very slick.

Maybe due to weekly carbon clearing sessions, my oil degrades fast.

Nitekidz, if you check some couple of pages back in this thread, you will find what you seek.

Gong hei fatt choi everyone.

There were a fair bit of HC at my place during CNY eve, no SYT.

Happy Lunar New Year to you too, Nitekidz.

I bought the 2005 Repsol replica in Nov 2004 from Looi's Motor. The bike is a Boon Siew bike.

$24.5k on the road. I was told that the Repsol paint scheme cost $2k more than the standard colours.

Breakdown as follows:

Vehicle Price $20,008.57

GST $ 1000.43

ARF $ 2301.00

COE $ 602.00

Registration Fee $ 140.00

Road Tax $ 160.00

Transfer Fee $ 288.00

Total $24,500.00

I put a downpayment of $5k and loaned $19.5k @ 4% per annum for 36 months at $607 per mth. Interest on loan works out to $2340 for 3 years.

The 2nd Party insurance with one named rider is $602 with 20% NCD.

PS. The named rider and I have 20 over years riding experience.

Hope this info helps. So.... when will you join us with your new bike for a ride??

Tashi, to untilise the engine treatment, the base oil of the engine oil we used got to be good.

Carbon session do degrade our oil, but i felt that frequent overheating of engine oil also will degrade the oil.

Look at our weather, no matter what engine oil or treatment we use, i feel that the oil can at the most last till 4000km and it will start to feel lousey when 3000km is reached.

After a few tries of engine treatment, no doubt it is good for engine and feels good.

But after my calculation, i think it is not cost effective.

Cos with or without the engine oil treatment, the oil wont last over 4000km, although the engine will feel better.

So, by using a good engine oil like the fuchs sykoline oil is good enough.

But i will keep the fuel catalyst. Too good to let go.

When I use mineral based oils like Castrol GTX 20W-50, the oil starts to feel lousy after 2000km.

Compared to the synthetic oils that start to lose out at 3000km, I think it is gonna be much cheaper for me to keep changing oil at every 2000km, just using the Castrol GTX which I can get for $16.00 for 4 litres.

Frequent oil changes is good for the bike since I am throwing out all the carbon deposits held in suspension in the oil (hence the darkening of the oil).

Looks like I am gonna go back to the old habit of changing oil very frequently. No more synthetic oils for me from now on.

I strongly believe synthetic oils and thermostats were meant for cold weather operations, not for our tropical climate.
