Just asking do you guys know about the AN Plate Kawasaki Z1 at West Coast?? Was told to be own by a Japanese chap.

Hi, how do you know it's a Z1? Is the bike in a bike shop? There is a big Kawa in a bike shop in West Coast, and it has been there for some years now, but it's not a Z1, it's a Z1000A and it is not running. Yup, the owner is Japanese who has been here for several years. He's not selling as far as I know.

 

There is another green AN plate Z1 look-alike running around, but it's not a Z1. This green AN plate is another Z1000A as well. The Z1 is a 900cc with 4 into 4 exhaust system. Very nice on the Z1, but the Z1000A came out in 1977 with a 4 into 2 exhaust system...... not as nice. It appears that the AN plate Z1000A owner wants a Z1 but can't find one. If you see the bike again, you will see the home made brackets mounted to hold the exhaust pipes together on the frame. I last saw the bike in a bike shop in Sing Min, near the Kawasaki agent having some work done.

 

The original Z1 is very rare and only 2 are known to exist here now. One of them is in real bad shape and is in the Katong Area, a non runner as well. This one is a Z1 for sure as the bike was bought from the Kawasaki agent. The other is said to be in a private collection and was on display at a bike show some years ago. Not much is known about that bike but it does exist as it has been seen.

 

Hope this ingo helps. I have been looking for one a Z1 900 for some years now, but I only ever found the Z1000A or Z1R. Not then same in my book

Vintage brit bikes is very hard to com by, but u could try Mah. They do have nice triumphs.....

Not sure how to spell it but I think the shop name is Yi Yang or Yee Yang..... something like that. Shop boss ( one man show ) is always in blue overalls. We talking about the same shop?

 

The bike in the shop is not for sale unfortunately, many people have asked . Don't quite know of any old Z1 or Z1000 from the 70's that is up for sale. I don't think that these old Zed's will be cheap even if they were and parts are hard to find locally. Thank goodness for the worldwide web!

 

May be a good idea to look for something a little more common. You will have to look around.

Hi All,

 

Thanks for the update n suggestion.

 

Use to own a Honda C110 . Daily rider but got to let go due.

 

Was in a process of doing up a Suzuki GS550. Got to let go of the project due to family commitment.

 

Now since I am very stable n have a decent amount of cash to invest. Deciding to get one bike that is not be vintage but a classic would be enough.

 

Hopefully will find e perfect bike soon. Thanks again guys
