It's pretty straight forward to do - if we're talking about the socket used on cars, yeah ? In which you can plug any type of USB/Charger assembly.

I got one from Autobacs because they sell them already prepared with all the wiring and fuse you need. But I bet you can get one from Daiso, Mustafa etc..

http://www.batteryspace.com/ProductImages/connectors/Con-SlaCigRing.jpg

On the one below, you just cut the socket with a bit of cable with it and rewire it to a longer wire that goes to your battery.

http://www.styleceo.com/images/stores/714/1/12v-dual-plug-splitter-2538050

They come with a cable made of two wires. One neg one Pos. Just plug that the way you would any accessory (on my bike it's hooked to a switch to control when it's ON). Put a fuse on the Positive wire that goes to your battery, to protect whatever it is you're going to charge.

Decide where you want to fix it, I fixed mine on top of the dashboard. With installing a socket only, you can plug and play whatever goes in it.

http://dvice.com/assets_c/2010/06/Micro-USB-car-Charger-by-iLuv-thumb-550xauto-40441.jpg

I got a USB plus that goes in it, with two USB ports. Charges my iPhone and my Camera at the same time. Works like a charm and I'm sure it will be very handy on the coming long trip.

Or you can get a socket that only has the USB port on it, in one piece. It's cheaper, and probably all you need...

best if you can get one with a cover to protect it against dust and water

limbat is selling with all the wiring for $12

you seriously going to sell your hang guard?

one more thing

was chatting with ah teck when he was fixing up my bike

saying my disc brake might be slightly bent due to my accident and replacing the disc at UM will be quite ex

then we spoke about prices of the parts and bringing in parts from indon or india will be cheaper

he say he also interested to go batam if we are going to the bajaj showroom in batam

so how anyone interested to go there to scout out?

I don;t know how much it would cost.. but fr you, seems like the major problem is the head fairing and reassembling it - maybe you can get UM to give you a rough quote ?

If the engine didn't get damaged and if the forks are still operational, it's the wiring and head assembly that would take most of the cost. Maybe it's cheaper than when you have to overhaul. Plus, you're not liable for this accident, are you ? So the insurance should cover all your repairs no ?m

Thanks sis....

The HG sure looks nice - but I guess that's my little issue with them and with the riser: the bike looks and feel scramblery ! And I'm not a huge fan of scramblers. I'm warming up to them though, because I can see how useful they are for touring especially in countries where it's not all asphalt roads.

But both your bkes Alvin & MJ look really cool with it on :cheer: :cheer:

The other issue I have with the riser and HG is the lane splitting. MJ, you can tell now your hand grips and your mirrors are higher, so now thy are closer to the mirrors of other cars.

The stock height of the handle bar makes it just nice to lane split, even with high mirrors. But now, with the riser, it's another story..

Maybe you guys didn;t notice because with your side boxes you probably don;t lane split as much as me.. but coming back from errands yesterday I was stuck in traffic, and it was interesting to lane split to say the least.

Also, the higher handlebar should give a more comfortable posture but for now it's just uncomfortable for me: because I am not used to it ! My body keeps looking for its "natural" riding posture, so I think it will take me a few kms to get used to it.

I am thinking of putting the hand guards for the touring trip.. it might come in very handy on some gravels roads for sure..

@mjbs64, you did not hook up the HG lights ? Why ? Did you change the rear lights under the tail or its just giving them more room with the 135cc lights assembly that makes them look brighter ?

@haktek, I'm quite free if you want me to come along to enquire about your bike repairs, let me know ok ? I don;t know if you can walk already without help, but if you do and want to check it out let me know !

@alvinyansg, I'm in to go to Batam to look for parts :thumb: ! When do you wanna go ? Next WE ? We should make it a BTMO !!! :D :D :D :D

the width wise is not an issue...

also the height is ok too...

with boxes we do lane split also...

well i do that everyday otw to work...

just that i am more careful when lane splitting...

going on a weekend they might not be open...

@mjbs64, just checked my HG closely and found many scratches and marks on them. I didn;t have a close look before because they were in the box but now that I did, I'm surprised they are so scratched. Is it because of the shipping ? How did the supplier pack them ?

I'll post pics later. It's not the end of the world, anyway these are made to be scratched but it's strange that there are marks since brand new items.. So I thought I'd let you know so you can feedback to the supplier.

we were discussing this at UM ytd

likely is due to the packaging and the movement during the shipping...

if you see it the hand guards are only placed in the box without any cushion or padding...

what to do when its local made and not the original

i might be painting over some of the scratches...
