O'ren,

Fyi, Honda Phamton also has got no fuel gauge... Purely using mileage to judge.... soon u will get used to it...

Pulsar is good because it has a trip meter.... Anyway fuel gauge is often so inaccurate... Note that all bikes fuel tank are not build in a rectangle shape.. it is often narrow at the bottom and wide at the top.... so even u have a perfect fuel meter.... I presume that within 3 months u would rather use ur trip meter to ur advantage... cos that is usually more accurate....

Also, as pulsar is still using "carbretor" and not fuel injection system... the benefit to us is that at least we still have a reserve lever... that could last u a really really long distant before u go find a petrol station...

Actually... Lindavw, Do u know anything about UG1 wiring? Arthur_chan brought a relay some time back hoping to fix up the harzard light. But we can't seems to find the supply to tap the power for the relay. According to cookie_monster, his voltage is too low...

Maybe with you n cookie_monster eletrician knowledge combined, u 2 may figure out something about UG1 wiring n help Arthur_chan

Dun think is voltage too low problem. I realise that even with 11.9V and battery 10.4V, a UG2 can even electric start while UG3 cannot.

UG1 and 2 do not need relay for hazard light. As their bike got their own relay.

I read on that thread that S$300 would suffice - the rest is additional money if you want to shop. And I guess one should also think about budgeting for a tyre or minor repairs if something happens during the trip and you have to go to a bike shop, but I think it shouldn't be much.

The monthly buget of $300 is the min for maintaining a bike. Is base on the min calculation.

As much as I'm sure I'll get used to it, it does bother me to think I'm going to put so much money in and resort to old school methods to tell my tank petrol status. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of nothing, but I'm more curious than anything else: anyone here changed their sensor? Did it fix the issue?

Yes.. UG3 first batch have sensor problem (FBB plate). infact I have change 4 time during warranty period. but on the 5th time, i purchase a lastest verion of the sensor and it quite accurate now.

I see your point, thanks for taking the time to explain this. Just to make sure I understand correctly, by trip meter, you mean the odometer, right ? Basically, keep an eye on my mileage and by that estimate how much fuel I have left, considering I always ride at the same average speed. Well, I guess if everyone uses this technique, I don't see why I wouldn't be able to use it too.:cheeky:

I have another question - I'm going to post it on the correct section of SBF, but I wanted to ask you guys here too: What kind of jacket would you recommend for SG weather?

I have been reading a lot about jackets the past days, and I would like advices. I believe a mesh jacket is a must, otherwise it would be too hot right? Would you choose one with waterproof lining incorporated, or would you just put the rain jacket on top of it when it rains ? Sometimes in SG it can rain a lot but for a very short time, but sometimes the rain can go on for a few hours, so I don't really know what to choose.

Do you guys have 2 jackets, one for the rain seson and one for the dry season?

Should I go for a short jacket or a 3/4 lengh jacket?

If you're a girl, or know a girl who rides, what kind of jacket do you/does she use? (brand/model)

The only things I am sure of right now is I want a jacket with a good quality protectors, but with shoulder pads that won't make me look like a guy (i.e no external pads). And despite the fact that I find all-black jackets pretty cool, I think it's best if I go for a lighter color jacket (grey or white) to be more visible.

If you could share with me the model/brand of your jacket, and a short feedback on it (protection, movements, breathing & temperature) I would really appreciate it

EDIT: I just ran a search on the forum with the keyword "jacket" and found a few threads that might be useful.. sorry if my questions are very obvious and annoyingly noob-y :cheeky:

Almost all DIY hazard lights fixed are copied from lindavw bro idea. His is the first few pulsarian to do DIY sessions.

I only know the way to deal with UG2 and UG3 hazard light. Not sure if UG1 is the same as UG2, need Bro lindavw to 'enlighten' us on that .

anyone here changed their sensor? Did it fix the issue?[/b]

Yap, my are those non-magnetic type, changed for almost a year. Its very accurate to me.

It behave the same as the magnetic ones, at around +300km the bars starts to drop but slowly.

When its drops till 2 bars with the red LED starts to blink, I've 10-30km before I need to switch to reserve and thats at 620-650km.

Oren looking thru ur post and yep gotta tell u. Ok la i currently own a waterproof lining armored jacket.. Its ok not super duper hot la since u dun wear after riding anyways. For such jackets u can look at brands like RS Taichi, Rjays, Spidi(more ex) or even look at the CMO session now which is where i bought mine. No brand but quality wise its as good as spidi protection for its pads. And i mean by armored pads.. ^^

im ard la.

UG3 i can say proudly i was the first pulsarian with hazard light cos i found out the secret on where to tap the source from.

UG1 and UG2 wiring for hazard lights are just the same to other bikes on the rd.

UG1,2 and UG3 the diff is UG3 is electronic. u cant just tap anyhow.

dun juz rely on the voltage to determine whether the battery is strong.

The voltage only reflects the voltage from the source u tap. not direct from the battery.

Sorry, I change within my bike warranty so don't know what's the damage.

And I did the change a year ago so not such the new bike is using magentic and non-magnetis sensor.

Only when they take out the sensor then you can tell if its magnetic or non-magnetic.

If you see there is a curve row of metal contacts with two pin that slide on them - that the non-magnetic sensor.

You wouldn't find the row of metal contacts on the magnetic sensor.

We adjusted my magnetic sensor for three times before they changed it.

Yes, I agree. Let the master guide you all, so far no one have any problem after our hazard light DIY session.

Only 'someone' try to re-wire himself then shorted his bike, right?

Ok, thanks katana for the info!

I think I will go for something like the Komine Lotta Mesh Jacket. I want elbows, shoulders and back protection. Not foam stuff, but real CE/Knox or harder protection. Even better if the jacket has ribs protection, but it's quite rare to find. Will probably have to buy the chest protection and add it...

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?
