I read most of US or UK bikes magazine, are there any local ones that caters to the region? Like tours, bikes destinations and so forth?

If you ride a GTR or ZZR 1400 we want to hear from you at www.kawa1400.blogspot.com

magazines i would tink not in our region.

MCA moslty are abt bike reviews and more bike review ( read: paid ads )

i tink wat FB is looking at is mags that tells places of interest reachable by bikes in SEA.

intro to great places/roads like Gua Musang , Mae Hon Son Loop

or places of great scenery , like Don Ithanon...

or great off road tracks in msia, viet or thai ( eg endau rompin )

seemingly, touring on bikes not very popular in SEA..

i was also looking for mags like tt too.. but i tink u`ve better chances looking at travel blogs..

or forum thread under trip outings or trip records..

keke..

gd day mate, heard u gg back?

wanna come out for a drink b4 u head home?

TBH, there are not very many places to tour here.

Cambodia and Laos are great for adventure and off-road or DP bikes perhaps. But in terms of great riding roads with good tarmac and fantastic sceneries, sad to say there aren't as many in this immediate region. TBH, the scenery going up Cameron is similar to going up Genting, Fraser Hils, and even the Gerik Highway. It's just jungles, plantations and MOTS.

We don't have things like these in SEA.

malaysia bike mag usually have article on tours.

but its in malay language.

when reading mca bike review, i feel like they not brave to be critical enough.

hehe. and articles which say product review are actually advertisements.

i do support them tho', as i've bought a few copies before.

haha.. at least i feel that Gua Musang is worth a ride for a difference..

it`s like travelling in an abandoned fortress through hills and cliffs..

some parts of the roads feels like u`re riding on of the mountains in lord of the rings.. hahha..

thou i`ve not been to mae hon song loop, heard it`s quite a challenge too...

Yeah, I've done Gua Musang before. Not too bad. The road there is unspoiled 'cos of low traffic. Nice sweepers. I think basically Spg Pulai to Cameron and Gua Musang are possibly the best riding roads in M'sia, by combination of twisties, road conditions, and the nice cool temperate climates higher up.

That and the Awana route to Genting. But I've yet to try that, only seen photos.

But honestly, the most interesting ride in my life so far was not done on my own bike, or in M'sia or Thailand, or even in the immediate region.

It was when I was in Taiwan and I rented scooters to explore the mountains in the National Parks and on Lyudao Island. :D

I hope to have the opportunity to ride in some other countries in the future.

Believe me, I've thought of that. Bringing in my bike there will be like a dream. I could ride the country in a counter clockwise direction, it will be a blast for sure.

Have yet to find out the hassle or cost of doing this kinda thing.

Team 27 is organizing a Beijing to Shanghai run mid next year. Per rider $7000.

So I guess it won't be cheap to ship it there and back again, plus customs sh!t and all.

The problem with riding in TW is that it's LHD. U ride on the RIGHT side of the road. Now, I got accustommed to it very fast, within a half hour. But there're restrictions on the road for small bikes, especially when making left turns at junctions (equivalent to right turn here in SG). U can't just turn with the cars.

So this is the danger for those who can't get used to it fast enough.

wow. those are very very nice sceneries..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.
